1 Crime statistics at a glance: 9/15 9/21 9/22 9/29 Robberies 2 0 Residential Burglaries 1 0 Commercial Burglaries 2 0 Vehicle Burglaries 3 9 Stolen Vehicles 4 (2 recovered) 3 (2 recovered) Notable Cases On Tuesday, at 4:50 p.m., officers were dispatched to the area of Geneva Avenue and Carter Street in San Francisco to assist the San Francisco Police Department on a report of a hit and run collision that just occurred with the subjects fleeing on foot. The collision had actually occurred in Daly City, and the passenger in the vehicle was injured but fled the scene. The vehicle involved was stolen from San Francisco. Officers found a semi-automatic handgun in the center console, a cell phone and a small baggie of a white crystalline substance (presumed methamphetamine) under the driver s seat. The passenger who fled the vehicle was found a short distance away. The passenger, a 31-year old Redwood City resident, was arrested for an outstanding warrant and for being in possession of methamphetamine. The driver, a 29-year old San Francisco resident, was identified. He was subsequently arrested on for vehicle theft, being a felon in possession of a firearm, hit and run, possession of a controlled substance, receiving stolen property and for a no-bail warrant. On Tuesday, at at 6:20 p.m., Officer Lilian Tashiro and Officer Isaako Poti were dispatched to the 100 block of South Mayfair Avenue on a report of a female adult who was under the influence and in an agitated state. The reporting party said the female appeared to be drunk, was yelling obscenities and had walked across John Daly Boulevard to North Mayfair Avenue. The officers located her on the 200 block of North Mayfair Avenue and saw that she was stumbling. The female told the officers that she was drunk and wanted to go to her mother s house. The officers asked her if they could check her bag, and she allowed them to do so. Officers found a clear glass pipe (usually used to smoke methamphetamine) wrapped in an article of clothing. The female, a 20-year old Daly City resident, was arrested for providing false information to a police officer, being intoxicated in public, and for possession of unlawful narcotics paraphernalia. On Tuesday, at 9:25 p.m., Officer Rodney Chittenden and Officer Sean Begley were dispatched to the liquor store on Crocker Avenue on the report of an unwanted subject loitering outside the store. Officers arrived and found an intoxicated female who was having trouble

2 maintaining her balance. The female admitted to drinking three beers and granted consent to be searched. She had a small baggie containing a white crystalline substance in her hand. Officers placed the 27-year old Daly City resident under arrest for possession of a controlled substance and for being drunk in public. As she was being transported to the jail by Officer Cameron Newton, she escaped from her handcuffs and threw them out the window of the patrol vehicle. As Officer Newton was re-securing the subject in the vehicle, he was spit on the face by the subject. The charges of battery on a police officer were added when they arrived at the jail. On Wednesday, at 1:45 p.m., Sergeant Michael Brennan stopped a vehicle with tinted windows at the intersection of Brunswick Avenue and Wellington Avenue. The driver, a 33-year old Concord resident, was arrested for failing to register as a sex registrant in his city of residence. Robberies There were no robberies during the past week. Residential Burglaries There were no residential burglaries during the past week. Commercial Burglaries There were no commercial burglaries during the past week. Vehicle Burglaries There were nine vehicle burglaries during the past week. Planet Fitness parking lot a messenger bag was taken from a 2011 Ford Focus. The left front window was smashed. Occurred on between 6:30 p.m. to 7:15 p.m. Serramonte Shopping Center parking lot near JC Penney a laptop and personal items were taken from a 2008 Scion XD. The left rear window was smashed. Occurred on between 7:00 p.m. and 7:25 p.m. In & Out parking lot three cameras and camera equipment taken from a 2005 Chevrolet Colorado. The rear window was smashed. Occurred on between 11:21 p.m. and 11:53 p.m. Rio Verde Street/Geneva Avenue sunglasses, checkbooks, an iphone charger and a tire gauge were taken from a 2011 Toyota Corolla. The left front window was smashed. Occurred between 11:30 p.m. on and 10:00 a.m. on Planet Fitness parking lot a tote bag containing miscellaneous clothing, purse, credit cards, cash and keys taken from a 2011 Ford Fiesta. The rear passenger window was smashed. Occurred on between 6:45 p.m. and 8:30 p.m. Unit block of Forest Grove Drive a backpack containing a Dell laptop and books was taken from a 2000 Honda Civic. Entry made by unknown means. Occurred between 8:30 p.m. on and 8:00 a.m. on block of Talbert Street a money order was taken from a 2004 Toyota Camry. Entry was made by an unknown means. Occurred between 3:00 p.m. on and 11:05 a.m. on

3 100 block of South Mayfair Avenue an ipad and a backpack containing school supplies and eyeglasses were taken from a 2007 Honda Civic. Occurred between 4:00 p.m. on and 7:30 a.m. on block of Geneva Avenue a bowling bag containing two bowling balls and shoes was taken from a 2004 Nissan Xterra. Occurred between 9:30 p.m. on and 9:20 a.m. on Stolen Vehicles There were three stolen vehicles in the last week. Two were recovered. 500 block of Southhill Boulevard a 2009 GMC Savannah. Occurred on between 12:30 a.m. and 7:30 a.m. **Recovered by Daly City P.D. on block of Palmcrest Drive a 2002 Yamaha dirt bike. Occurred between 4:00 p.m. on and 10:30 a.m. on Brunswick Street/Templeton Avenue a 1997 Toyota Corolla. Community Events Fall Festival at the Doelger Senior Center, Sunday, October 5 th Please join the supporters of the Doelger Senior Center, Inc. and the City of Daly s Library and Recreation Services Department for their annual Fall Festival from 8:30 a.m. to 1:00 p.m. at the Doelger Senior Center, 101 Lake Merced Boulevard. For more information, please call (650) Daly City Council Adopts Urgency Ordinance to Regulate Outdoor Water Use On August 11, the City Council adopted an urgency ordinance regulating outdoor water use to conform with the emergency drought regulations recently adopted by the State Water Resources Control Board. Daly City s urgency ordinance prohibits residents from: Washing down driveways and sidewalks. Watering outdoor landscapes that cause visible runoff. Using a hose to wash an automobile, unless the hose is fitted with a shut-off nozzle. Using potable water in non-recirculated ornamental fountains. In addition, outdoor irrigation is prohibited between the hours of 11:00 a.m. to 6:00 p.m. and limited to no more than two days per week (Sunday through Saturday) Violations of the ordinance will result in a documented issuance of a written warning notice. If violations continue, then fines starting at $250 with a maximum of $1,000 may be issued per violation.
