Notable Cases During the past week, there was a rather unusual amount (17) of people who were issued citations for possession of either cocaine or methamphetamine. Officers made contact with these people either during traffic stops or pedestrian stops. On Monday, at approximately 5:09 a.m., a 30-year old Daly City resident was arrested for driving under the influence after Officer Murillo found him asleep behind the wheel at the corner of St. Francis Boulevard and Belhaven Avenue. On Thursday, at 8:59 a.m., officers arrested a 22-year old San Francisco resident for giving a false name to a peace officer and battery (via spit) upon a police officer. This occurred after officers were dispatched to a call of a vandalism in progress on the 6200 block of Mission Street. The subject was first placed on a mental health evaluation and then later booked into jail. On Friday, at 2:20 p.m., Officer Todaro and Officer Mendiara were dispatched to a residence on the unit block of Rice Street on a report of a family disturbance. The 50-year old reporting party said her nephew was at home throwing things and was fearful of her safety. When officers made contact with the subject, they saw that the subject had been drinking and was belligerent. When Officer Todaro asked the subject for his identification, he said the subject told him to take it out of his pocket. Without warning, the subject lunged toward Officer Todaro, and a struggle ensued. Officer arrested the 29-year old subject for battery upon a police officer, obstructing/resisting a police officer and for an outstanding warrant.

2 On Saturday, at approximately 12:24 a.m., officers were dispatched to the 500 block of Gellert Boulevard on a report of shots fired into a residence. Upon arrival, officers located numerous shell casings in the driveway. The investigation revealed multiple gunshots were fired by two separate people from both inside and outside of the residence. From the residence, officers arrested a 24-year old male from San Francisco for attempted murder and a narcotics violation. Two other adults were arrested from the residence for narcotics violations. The fourth subject, a 37-year old male from San Francisco, was arrested for attempted murder based on firing a weapon into the residence from the street. The 37-year old male sustained a non-life threatening gunshot wound to his leg by another resident. He was treated prior to being booked into the main jail. On Saturday, at 8:55 p.m., a 21-year old Daly City resident was arrested for driving under the influence after he was involved in a hit and run collision near Peoria Street and Roosevelt Avenue. On Sunday, at 8:36 p.m., subsequent to a traffic stop, a 28-year old Daly City resident was arrested for possession of a loaded firearm in a vehicle, carrying a loaded firearm in a public place, carrying a concealed weapon in a vehicle and for carrying a concealed dirk/dagger. This occurred at Westline Drive and Skyline Drive. On Sunday, at approximately 9:46 p.m., a 58-year old Daly City resident was arrested for public intoxication and for a misdemeanor warrant after threatening to shoot a patron at Buffalo Wild Wings. Robberies There were no robberies during the past week. Residential Burglaries There were two residential burglaries and one attempted residential burglary during the past week. On Thursday, between 7:15 p.m. and 9:05 p.m., unknown suspects pried the rear upstairs door to a residence on the 200 block of Bay Ridge Drive and stole a diamond ring, additional jewelry, coins and other items. The victim said he returned home and heard footsteps from upstairs and then heard someone run down the rear stairs. The victim looked into the backyard and saw two either Hispanic or black males running up the retaining wall of his residence. The victim said they were wearing black masks with holes in the eye area, black gloves and black clothing. Officers checked the area but could not locate any subjects. On Thursday, at approximately 6:30 p.m., an unknown suspect entered a residence on the 300 block of Skyline Drive via an open downstairs window. A resident was in the home at the time and heard footsteps and later reported it to his landlord. There was no loss. On Saturday, at approximately 8:41 p.m., unknown suspects used a pry tool on the rear metal gate and rear glass sliding door to a residence on the 200 block of St. Catherine Drive and stole watches and jewelry. On Monday, at 8:09 p.m., officers were dispatched an apartment at 850 Campus Drive on a report of an interrupted residential burglary of an apartment. The reporting party advised that the subject lived in the building and was most likely responsible for a burglary last week. After an investigation, officers arrested a 19-year old resident of the same apartment building for burglary. Commercial Burglaries There were five commercial burglaries during the past week.

3 Between Wednesday, at 10:15 a.m. and Thursday, at 10:00 a.m., an unknown subject pried the coin operated dryer at an apartment on the 700 block of Hillside Boulevard. On Thursday, between 1:30 p.m. and 2:40 p.m., an unknown subject entered the men s locker room at the Planet Fitness facility and pried a combination lock off of a locker and stole a wallet containing credit cards and identification. The subject then used the credit cards at Target. This investigation is continuing. On Thursday, between 1:30 p.m. and 2:40 p.m., an unknown subject entered the men s locker room at the Planet Fitness facility and pried another combination lock off of a locker and stole the victim s clothing and his wallet containing credit cards and identification. The suspect then used the credit cards at various locations. This investigation is continuing. On Friday, at approximately 11:30 a.m., an unknown subject stole 13 boxes of high-end fragrances from Macy s. This investigation is continuing. On Friday, between 6:00 p.m. and 7:00 p.m., an unknown subject entered the men s locker room at the 24 Hour Fitness facility and removed the lock from a locker and stole the victim s backpack and duffel bag containing identification, a credit card and a key. The suspect then used the credit cards to purchase items at a nearby gas station. This investigation is continuing. Vehicle Burglaries There were three vehicle burglaries and one attempted vehicle burglary during the past week. 400 block of Lakeshire Drive a laptop bag containing a book and paperwork was taken from a 2016 Toyota Prius. The method of entry is unknown. Occurred between 9:00 p.m. on and 6:50 a.m. on **On-line report made. The Habit restaurant parking lot a backpack containing DVD and Blue Ray movies was taken from a 2016 Honda Civic. The right rear window was smashed. Occurred on between 6:15 p.m. and 8:30 p.m. 200 block of Miriam Street old credit cards and paperwork was taken from a 2006 Honda Civic. The method of entry is unknown. Occurred between 1:00 p.m. on and 7:20 a.m. on block of Washington Street an attempted burglary only to a 2016 Cadillac Escalade. Occurred on at 4:49 a.m. Stolen Vehicles There was one vehicle stolen during the past week. 800 block of Skyline Drive a 2018 Dodge Caravan. Occurred between 10:30 p.m. on and 5:30 a.m. on Miscellaneous We responded to 10 domestic disturbance cases There were 12 cases involving an involuntary psychiatric hold There were 5 vandalism cases reported There were 5 hit and run collisions reported

4 Scams/Other Rental Unit Scam On Thursday, at 12:37 p.m., a 19-year old Pacifica resident reported that she was the victim of a fraud. The victim explained that on Monday, at 2:30 p.m., she responded to an ad on roomster.com regarding the rental of an in-law unit in Daly City. The victim said she agreed to send $600 via Zelle (money transfer) as a deposit for the rental. The victim later learned that the property on the ad was not really for rent at all, and the phone numbers she had for the landlords were unable to be traced. Craigslist Ad Scams On Friday, , a 57-year old Daly City resident reported a fraud that had occurred three days prior. The reporting party said she had made an ad on Craigslist earlier in the month to sell a used couch for $100. The reporting party said an unknown caller Sunni said a cashier s check for $1, would be mailed to her address for purchase of the couch. The reporting party said Sunni told her to deposit the check into her bank account, keep $100 for the purchase of the couch and to withdraw $1, in cash and give it to the furniture delivery driver who was scheduled to pick up the couch. The reporting party said she was later informed that the delivery driver was no longer picking up the couch and was given a Wells Fargo account number to deposit the remaining $1, to pay the driver. The victim said on , she deposited the check and withdrew the cash and deposited the cash into the Wells Fargo account. The following day, the reporting party said her bank informed her that the cashier s check she deposited the day before was fraudulent. Coincidentally, the same day, another Daly City resident reported being scammed in nearly the identical situation as described above. This 30-year old reporting party said a couple of weeks ago, he placed an ad on Craigslist for the sale of an entertainment center for $500. He said someone contacted him in the same fashion, but this time the check was for $1,850. The reporting party fell for this and deposited the fraudulent check and withdrew $1,850 from his bank. Community Events/Information Daly City Host Lions Club Pasta Bingo Friday, April 13 The Daly City Host Lion s Club is having their annual Pasta Bingo event on Friday, April 13, 2018 from 5:30 p.m. to 9:00 p.m. at the Café Doelger in Westlake Park.
