Notable Cases On Monday, at 11:26 p.m., Officer Pati was on patrol in the area of the on-ramp of 280 south from Sullivan Avenue when he saw a subject standing in the middle of the street. The subject, a 40- year old Pacifica resident, said he thought he was in Pacifica. He was arrested for public intoxication. On Tuesday, at 9:50 a.m., Officer Bocci was on patrol in the area of Mission Street and John Daly Boulevard and saw a subject with no shirt on pacing near the sheltered bus stop. The subject, a 37 year old San Francisco resident, was ultimately cited for possession of heroin, a glass pipe used to smoke methamphetamine, and a probation violation. He was released on a citation. On Friday, at approximately 8:42 p.m., Officer Fulmore was dispatched to the parking lot of the Civic Center Plaza on 87 th Street on a report of a vehicle on fire. A 2000 Mercedes CLK 350 was fully engulfed in flames. The Daly City Fire Department determined the fire was not intentionally set. On Saturday, at 12:36 p.m., officers were dispatched to an apartment on the 100 block of Eastmoor Avenue on a report of a male subject who was acting out inside of an apartment. When officers arrived, they found an elderly female with a head injury sitting in the lobby. The victim said her son had barricaded himself inside of the apartment and was breaking glass. The 78-year old victim said her 54-year old son had not been sleeping and was acting out by pacing and breaking things throughout the apartment. The victim said her son pushed her, causing her to fall and hit her head. The victim said she got out of the apartment, and her son locked her out. Officer Garay, who is certified in Crisis Intervention, responded and attempted to make contact with the son. The subject eventually exited his residence, and officers placed him on a mental evaluation until he was medically cleared to be booked into jail. He was subsequently arrested for elder abuse causing injury, vandalism, and possession of social security cards and identification not belonging to him. On Sunday, at 9:00 a.m., Officer Chittenden and Officer Hyink were dispatched to the 6200 block of Mission Street on a report of a subject sleeping in the laundromat. Officer Hyink attempted to

2 wake up the subject, and the subject yelled obscenities and attempted to kick the officer. The subject also elbowed Officer Chittenden. The subject, a 39-year old Daly City resident, was intoxicated and was arrested for battery on an officer(s) and resisting arrest. Robberies There were two robberies and one attempted robbery during the past week. On Friday, at 1:10 p.m., a 44-year old Daly City resident came to the station to report a robbery that occurred a few days earlier. The victim said she was leaving her apartment on the 2400 block of Geneva Avenue on at approximately 3:40 a.m. and was closing the gate when she immediately felt someone forcibly grab her by her backpack and spun her around. She said the suspect pulled her toward the metal grates that are located next to her apartment building and then slammed her upper body against a metal structure which supports a metal staircase. The suspect took a backpack containing one pair of gym shoes and gym clothing. The suspect was described as a black male adult in his mid-40 s, last seen wearing dark colored baggy clothing and ¼ dreadlocks. The suspect ran away eastbound on Geneva Avenue. The officer asked the victim why she waited to report the crime, and she said she was in fear the suspect would return to retaliate. The victim sustained bruising to her shoulder. On Sunday, at 9:36 a.m., officers were dispatched to a residence on the 200 block of Miriam Street on a report of an armed robbery via knife. The 24-year old victim said after she parked her vehicle on Santa Barbara Avenue and North Parkview Avenue, she was walking on Miriam Street when she heard footsteps behind her. The victim said she walked up the steps to her residence and when she reached the top, she said she was approached from behind by an unknown suspect who pushed her from behind and held her into the corner of the front door. The victim said she was unable to turn around to see the suspect and felt pressure to her right side and believed it was a knife. The victim said the suspect told her in Spanish, Give me your wallet, be careful, don t call police. The victim said the suspect grabbed her wallet and turned away, walking down the stairs to go northbound on Miriam Street. The victim could only describe the suspect as a Hispanic male adult, 6 0, wearing a plain gray hooded sweater with the hood covering his head. Officers tried looking for the suspect but were unable to locate him. On Saturday, at 12:05 p.m., Officer Clinkscales was dispatched to the 3100 block of Geneva Avenue on a report of a man brandishing a knife. The victim, a 31-year old Campbell resident, said he was in the area visiting a friend when he recognized a subject who bought a tent from him in the past who approached him. The subject asked the victim for money because the tent he purchased did not have poles. The victim said he didn t have enough to pay the suspect and then said the suspect brandished a knife and demanded money. The officer located the subject, a 35-year old Daly City resident, in the area, and he was arrested for brandishing and attempted robbery. Residential Burglaries There was one residential burglary during the past week. On Monday, at 2:30 a.m., an unknown suspect smashed a garage window of a residence on the 100 block of Hampshire Avenue and stole three motorcycle quads, two dirt motorcycles, a mountain bicycle and other miscellaneous gear. Thanks to the assistance of San Francisco P.D., two subjects were arrested, and three motorcycles were recovered. The suspects are 15 and 16 year old San Francisco residents and were arrested. Commercial Burglaries There were two commercial burglaries during the past week.

3 On Tuesday, between 12:30 p.m. and 1:45 p.m., an unknown suspect stole $600 from a locker in the men s locker room at the Planet Fitness facility. The victim said he had a combination lock on his locker. On Wednesday, at 2:09 p.m., a 30-year old San Francisco resident was arrested for burglary after not paying for merchandise he concealed in an aluminum foil lined bag. This occurred at Macy s. The suspect was also arrested for possession of a glass pipe used to smoke methamphetamine and for two outstanding warrants. Vehicle Burglaries There were eight vehicle burglaries during the past week. Serramonte Shopping Center parking lot near Macy s two backpacks were taken from a 2016 Ford F150. The right rear window was smashed. Occurred on between 7:45 p.m. and 8:45 p.m. 100 block of Knowles Avenue a JBL wireless speaker was taken from a 2016 Toyota Camry. The right rear window was smashed. Occurred between 6:30 p.m. on and 7:30 a.m. on Clarinada Avenue/Saint Francis Boulevard an envelope containing $200 was taken from a 2010 Toyota Tundra. The right rear window was smashed. Occurred on between 5:20 a.m. and 8:20 a.m. **On-line report made. Krispy Kreme parking lot two backpacks containing clothing, a watch and miscellaneous electronics were taken from a 2016 Nissan Quest. The left rear window was smashed. Occurred on at 2:45 p.m. Unit block of Westlake Avenue a key to another vehicle was taken from a 2015 Toyota Corolla. The method of entry is unknown. Occurred on between 11:00 p.m. and at 4:40 p.m. Westlake Shopping Center parking lot a backpack was taken from the passenger floorboard of a 2009 Toyota Corolla. The right front window was smashed. Occurred on between 4:15 p.m. and 6:55 p.m. **On-line report made. In N Out parking lot a duffle bag containing miscellaneous items, a backpack containing a MacBook pro, and clothing was taken from a 2015 Mazda 3. The right front window was smashed. Occurred on at 7:38 p.m. The subjects were seen in the parking lot, and this case was referred to investigators. Westlake Shopping Center near Walgreen s a Go Pro camera was taken from a 2005 Honda Civic. The method of entry is unknown. Occurred on between 8:30 p.m. and 8:50 p.m. **On-line report made. Stolen Vehicles There was one vehicle stolen and three attempted stolen vehicles during the past week. 200 block of San Pedro Road a 1998 Toyota Tacoma. Occurred on between 8:35 p.m. and 8:40 p.m. Unit block of Miriam Street attempted only to a 1997 Honda Civic. Occurred on at 9:00 p.m. Unit block of Los Olivos Avenue attempted only to a 2005 Honda Civic. Occurred between 9:30 p.m. on and 6:00 a.m. on Unit block of Los Olivos Avenue attempted only to a 2002 Honda Civic. Occurred between 9:30 p.m. on and 6:00 a.m. on

4 Miscellaneous There were 5 hit and run crashes We responded to 6 domestic disturbance cases There were 9 cases involving an involuntary psychiatric hold We made 11 warrant arrests Scams/Other Google Doc Phishing Scam This just started circulating on the internet, and it is worth mentioning. If you receive a link to a Google doc, you may want to do some investigating before clicking on the link. According to Business Insider, it will appear as if a contact of yours sent you a Google doc. If you click on the open in docs link, it will send spam to everyone you ve ever ed with a similar phishing . Google is aware of the problem and is investigating it. Community Events/Information San Mateo County Alert System (SMC) This alert is a free digital communication system used by emergency management agencies and first responders to send emergency alerts, notifications and updates to portable digital devices. In an emergency situation, an alert will be sent by San Mateo County authorized personnel and you will receive messages on your cell phone or mobile device.
