Notable Cases On Wednesday, at 4:06 a.m., officers were dispatched to an apartment at 500 King Drive on a report of a mutual domestic battery via punching, biting and shoving. One of the subjects was on probation with a search clause. During a search of the apartment, officers found methamphetamine, numerous baggies and scales. The 30-year old subject was arrested and booked for domestic battery and possession of narcotics for sales. On Saturday, at 12:30 a.m., a 36-year old transient subject was arrested for obstructing a police officer in the course of his duties. This occurred after the subject was stopped for walking in the middle of the street and blocking oncoming traffic at Mission Street and Hillside Boulevard. The subject initially refused to provide his name and was uncooperative with the officer. On Saturday, at 6:53 a.m., officers were dispatched to the 600 block of Hillside Boulevard on a report of a collision. The officers saw a red Ford Focus that had crashed into a telephone pole and two parked vehicles. The driver, a 21-year old Daly City resident, was subsequently arrested for driving under the influence of marijuana and for having a suspended driver's license. On Sunday, at 2:23 a.m., the BART Police Department reported possible shots fired in the area of the Daly City BART station. Officer Soyangco and Officer Ortiz checked on two vehicles parked next to each other at Westlake Park, as they were in violation of a municipal code about after hours parking. The officers contacted two subjects in a Toyota and immediately smelled an odor of marijuana in the vehicle. The female subject said she was coming home from work, and the male had picked her up. The officers said the driver was exhibiting nervous behavior. The driver, a 23-year old Vallejo resident, gave consent to the officers to search his vehicle, and they found a digital scale, a loaded.40 caliber firearm, a 15-round magazine, marijuana and a bag of money. The subject said he did not fire the weapon. The subject was arrested for possession of a controlled substance while
2 armed, carrying a loaded firearm in a public place, possession of a large capacity magazine and for carrying a concealed weapon in a vehicle. On Sunday, at 8:15 a.m., officers arrested a 20-year old male from Southern California for being under the influence of a controlled substance after refusing to leave the lobby of Seton Hospital. On Sunday, at 5:00 p.m., officers were dispatched to the Denny s restaurant on a report of subjects in the parking lot who were involved in a disturbance resulting in vandalism to two vehicles. One of the subjects, a 35-year old female Daly City resident, was arrested for obstructing a police officer, contributing to the delinquency of a minor and willful cruelty to a child. Charges are pending for the other subjects. Robberies There was one robbery during the past week. On Thursday, at 2:04 a.m., officers were dispatched to the 400 block of Irvington Street on a report of shots fired. The reporting party said she heard 3-4 shots and then heard a vehicle driving away. Officer Sheldon got of his patrol vehicle and noticed potting soil in the area and followed the trail to a residence where he saw the front room window was shattered, broken glass on the ground and the window coverings disrupted. Officer Sheldon smelled a strong odor of marijuana near the residence, and as he knocked on the front door, he said the door swung open. The officer said there was potting soil, mature marijuana plants, clothing strewn across the floor, and video surveillance equipment. Officers found blood on the bathroom floor. Officers were able to determine who was leasing this house and arrested a 29-year old San Francisco resident for cultivating marijuana in the house, as well as stealing electricity from PG&E by utilizing a bypass system. They also arrested a 34- year old Daly City resident for being a convicted felon who was in possession of and who fired a pistol in the house, as well as admitting to cultivating marijuana for the intent to sell. 4 There were 3 vandalism cases reported There was one hit and run collision reported Scams/Other Internal Revenue Service Scam By now, you must know about this scam and how people have received phone calls from the I.R.S. telling them they owe back taxes or will face immediate arrest. In cases like this, the caller instructs the person to go to a store and purchase a Green Dot Money card or an itunes card to use as payment. This past Friday, a 51-year old victim received a call at her work in Daly City from a subject claiming to be from the I.R.S. who said she owed $16,000 and would be arrested if she did not make a wire transfer immediately. The victim did exactly that the next day and made a wire transfer for $16,000 only to find out later that she was a victim of a scam. The wire transfer now seems to be yet one more method of collecting money, and I wanted you to be aware that the I.R.S. would not ask for payment over the telephone.
