Notable Cases Early on Tuesday at about 2:20 a.m., one of our officers spotted an adult mountain lion running across Callan Boulevard and onto the wooded hillside on the west side of Callan Boulevard between Southgate Avenue and Clarinada Avenue. The Department of Fish and Wildlife responded to the area, however as of 6:00 that morning, officers were not able to locate the mountain lion. Since that time, we have not received any reports of mountain lion sightings. The Daly City Police Department will do everything possible to ensure the safety of our community during a potential mountain lion sighting and will also take every reasonable precaution necessary to protect the animal as well. Although mountain lion attacks on humans are extremely rare, we recognize that these sightings can be concerning to our neighbors and thus, we will keep the community informed of any additional confirmed sightings or developments of this nature. In light of the severe drought here in California, according to the Department of Fish and Wildlife, sightings such as this have become more frequent as deer have begun to venture down from their usual surroundings in search of food and water and thus, the mountain lions have followed. On Thursday, at 1:44 a.m., Officer Joshua Moala noticed a vehicle in front of him with expired registration at Washington Street and San Pedro Avenue. He stopped the vehicle on northbound 280 near the John Daly Boulevard off-ramp. The driver, a 58 year old San Francisco resident, was subsequently arrested for possession of methamphetamine, possession of heroin and driving with a suspended license. On Friday, at 3:51 a.m., Officer Jerel Tualaulelei contacted a subject he saw looking into windows of an apartment building on the 2500 block of Geneva Avenue. The subject, a 31- year old San Francisco resident, was on probation and was subject to search and seizure. The

2 officer found a knife with a 4 ½ blade in the subject s waistband. The officer cited the subject for carrying a concealed dirk or dagger. On Friday, at 6:15 p.m., Officer Noah Serbin and Sergeant Mike Brennan stopped a vehicle for a stop sign violation at Junipero Serra Boulevard and San Pedro Avenue. Officers smelled an odor of marijuana when they came up to the occupants. When the officers asked the driver if there were guns in the vehicle, the driver advised he had one in the glove compartment. The first subject, a 25-year old Daly City resident, was arrested for carrying a concealed firearm in a vehicle, possession a controlled substance while armed and for possession of concentrated cannabis. The passenger, a 24-year old Daly City resident, was arrested for possession of prescription pills without a prescription. On Sunday, at 4:27 p.m., Officer Tiffany Cook and Officer Garrett McKenzie were dispatched to the Dollar Tree store on a report of a theft. The reporting party said the suspect attempted to conceal store items on her person. When the store personnel confronted the subject, the subject became verbally abusive. When the officers arrived, the subject became verbally aggressive towards Officer Cook and grabbed her shoulder in an attempt to get away. The subject, a 46-year old San Francisco resident, was arrested for resisting arrest and for an outstanding warrant from the City and County of San Francisco. The officer was unharmed. Robberies There was one robbery during the past week. On Monday, at 1:39 p.m., a 92-year old San Francisco resident was pushing her shopping cart toward Safeway at the Westlake Shopping Center and was approached by a man who grabbed her purse containing miscellaneous credit cards and a cell phone from the cart and ran towards Park Plaza Drive. A witness described the subject as a Hispanic male, mid 20 s, 5 8 to 5 9, pounds, skinny, with very short hair and no facial hair. He was last seen wearing a black zipper jacket and black pants. The victim was unharmed. The purse and some of the contents was located nearby. Residential Burglaries There was one residential burglary during the past week. On Monday, between 12:00 p.m. and 4:30 p.m., an unknown subject pried the sliding glass door of an apartment on the 300 block of Half Moon Lane and took an ipad and checkbook. Commercial Burglaries There was one commercial burglary and one attempted commercial burglary during the past week. On Friday, at 10:00 a.m., a subject climbed the cement wall to the City of Daly City Corporation Yard on the 700 block of Niantic Avenue and took used tires. The subject is described as a white male, year old, , slender, beanie, white contractor s jacket, dark saggy jeans and fled in a green older model Ford Explorer with no plates.

3 On Tuesday, at 1:52 a.m., an attempted burglary occurred at the herb store on the 6300 block of Mission Street. The suspect removed the entrance door handles and chain lock but was unable to gain entry. Vehicle Burglaries There were nine vehicle burglaries during the past week. Serramonte Shopping Center near Elephant Bar a purse containing miscellaneous items was taken from the rear passenger floorboard of a 2015 Ford Fusion. The right rear window was smashed. Occurred on between 4:30 p.m. and 10:30 p.m. Lake Merced Golf and Country Club nothing was taken from a 2011 Audi Q5. The right rear window was smashed. Occurred on between 11:30 a.m. and 1:00 p.m. Lake Merced Golf and Country Club a backpack containing clothing was taken from a 2015 Porsche Cayenne. The rear window was smashed. Occurred on between 11:30 a.m. and 1:00 p.m. 300 block of 90 th Street an iphone was taken from a 2014 Honda CRV. The rear window was smashed. Occurred on between 1:00 p.m. and 4:40 p.m. Parking garage (first floor) at 273 Lake Merced Boulevard nothing was taken from a 2012 Acura TXX. The right rear window was smashed. Occurred on between 7:30 p.m. and 10:09 p.m. Unit block of Northridge Drive luggage containing a tablet and miscellaneous items was taken from a 2004 Toyota Highlander. The left rear window was smashed. Occurred between 6:30 p.m. on and 6:30 a.m. on Bed Bath and Beyond parking lot (rear) shoes, cell phone, cigarette and pens were taken from a 2008 Mazda 3. The left rear window was smashed. Occurred on between 5:50 a.m. and 8:00 a.m. **The items were found nearby. Gateway Drive/Skyline Drive a backpack containing earbuds and miscellaneous items was taken from a 2010 Volkswagen Jetta. The front passenger window was smashed. Occurred between 10:00 p.m. on and 11:50 a.m. on Carport on the 900 block of St Francis Boulevard a bag containing miscellaneous items was taken from a 2015 Jeep Cherokee. The front passenger window was smashed. Occurred between 8:30 p.m. on and 8:16 a.m. on Stolen Vehicles There were three vehicles stolen and all three were recovered. Rear of Dunn Edwards Paint store a 2012 Ford Focus. Occurred on between 1:20 and 1:30 p.m. **Recovered by San Francisco P.D. on Unit block of Poncetta Drive a 1987 Nissan pickup. This event is free for children and adults with developmental disabilities and includes free bowling, free lunch and fun dancing. 5 Daly City Police Athletic League 41 st Annual Golf Fundraiser Tournament Have you ever wanted to golf at the beautiful Olympic Club Lake course in San Francisco? Here s your chance to do so, as well as to sponsor and help hundreds of youth the PAL assists each year. The event is on Monday, July 20, 2015, with a shotgun start at 11:30 a.m. The format is a two person, with one best ball/two person with one best ball blind bogey. The cost is $350, which includes golf, lunch, dinner, trophies and prizes. The donations are tax deductible and much less expensive than a membership! Even if you don t golf and are able to donate any goods that can be used as raffle prizes, the PAL would readily accept them. (It s tax-deductible!)
