Notable Cases On Tuesday, at 4:48 a.m., an alert citizen reported that a subject was throwing items to break the glass at the Jack in the Box. As Officer Joshua Moala was arriving to the scene, he saw a subject who matched the description that the dispatchers gave and detained him. After reviewing video surveillance footage, Officer Moala arrested the 32-year old transient for burglary. On Wednesday, at 12:15 p.m., Sergeant Mike Brennan and Officer Noah Serbin, who are members of the Crime Suppression Unit, conducted a probation search of a 50-year old subject who lives at a residence on the 100 block of Irvington Street. When the officers arrived, they saw the subject sitting in the front seat of a vehicle in the driveway of the residence. Officer Bruce Perdomo responded with his K-9 partner Utah, who is a certified drug detection K-9. Utah alerted Officer Perdomo to the front area of the engine. Officer Serbin checked the area and noticed a carabineer wrapped in black electrical tape hanging off part of the engine, and attached to that was a cloth bag. Officer Serbin opened the bag and found a large sandwich bag containing what he believed was crystal methamphetamine, another small bag containing more methamphetamine, a small baggie of marijuana and two coin bags containing over 30 morphine pills. As part of the conditions of the subject s probation, his room was also subject to search. Officers searched the room he lived in and found more methamphetamine. They arrested the subject for possession of a controlled substance for sale, transportation of a controlled substance and for a probation violation. On Wednesday, at 5:44 p.m., Officer Phillip Wagnon was dispatched to the Westlake Shopping Center on a report of a male subject who tried to lure a male juvenile from the parking lot. The 12-year old juvenile told his mother that as he was leaving his aunt s store, a man he didn t recognize walked up to him, stood very close to him and offered to buy him an X-Box. The boy said he felt very scared and ran back to his aunt. Officer Wagnon was flagged down by the reporting party who pointed out the subject, and the officer asked the subject if he knew why the

2 police were there. The subject responded it was probably because he was asking a boy if he could buy him an X-Box. The subject, a 31-year old transient, was arrested for trespassing and for annoying/enticing a child under the age of 18 years old. On Wednesday, at 8:40 p.m., officers from the Crime Suppression Unit conducted another probation check on a subject who lived in an apartment on the 600 block of Sylvan Street. One of the conditions of the subject s probation was that he could be subject to search and seizure at his residence. The 37-year old subject said his girlfriend was in the other room with their baby. Officer Noah Serbin advised the subject that he needed the subject to sit on the couch while they conducted a search of the apartment. Prior to that, Officer Serbin checked the couch and found a cell phone on it, as well as a loaded.9 mm semi-automatic firearm underneath the cushion. Officers asked the subject if there were any other guns in the house, and the subject said there was one in the bedroom nightstand. The officer found an unloaded.32 caliber gun in the nightstand, which was approximately four feet from where the baby was sleeping. As officers conducted a search of the apartment, they found a concentrated cannabis manufacturing station in the kitchen, along with vials of what was most likely hash oil (concentrated cannabis), a case of butane and other items related to the manufacturing of hash oil. The 37-year old subject was arrested for manufacturing a controlled substance, possessing marijuana for sale, maintaining a place for the purpose of unlawfully selling and manufacturing a controlled substance, and possessing controlled substances while armed with firearms, and child endangerment. His 31- year old girlfriend was arrested for child endangerment. The girlfriend s mother took custody of the 11-month old baby. On Thursday, at 1:05 a.m., officers were dispatched to an apartment on the 600 block of South Mayfair Avenue on a report of a noise complaint/house party. This is the tenth time this residence has had noise complaints since September Officers heard bottles being thrown around and loud voices. Because this residence was a San Francisco State University Fraternity house, we requested that the SFSU police officers also meet us at the location. In an attempt to serve an unruly assembly notice, officers asked the subject who answered the door for his name. He refused to provide any information. The officers were able to identify the subject, and a complaint is sought for delaying/resisting a police officer. On Friday, at 8:40 p.m., a masked and gloved subject told a cashier at the Walgreens on Mission Street that he had a gun and demanded money. After getting money, he then fled the area. With the help of other cashiers, they were able to identify the subject from previous visits to the store. The next day, officers arrested the 40-year old subject at his residence for robbery. The cashier was unharmed. On Friday, at 11:25 p.m., several officers were dispatched to an apartment on the 600 block of Villa Street on a report of a male inside the apartment who had been slamming doors and possibly drinking. Officers knocked on the door several times, and a male subject opened the door in an aggressive manner. Officers said he was intoxicated, sweating, appeared unbalanced and was holding a large kitchen knife in his hand. The officer shouted to the subject to drop the knife, and he slammed the door shut. Officers who were on the outside of the apartment saw the subject had gone into an adjacent courtyard and entered another apartment. Officers subsequently arrested the 25-year old suspect for exhibiting a deadly weapon with intent to resist arrest, trespassing, delaying a peace officer in the discharge of his/her duties, resisting an executive officer and for possession of a controlled substance (cocaine). On Saturday, , at 6:23 p.m., Officer Phillip Wagnon and Officer Bruce Perdomo were dispatched to Woodrow Street and Parkview Avenue on a report of two males looking inside of car windows who were attempting to break into a vehicle. Officer Victor Cabatic advised he was attempting to stop the subjects when one ran away from him. The officers were able to corner one of the subjects who then resisted arrest by pushing Officer Perdomo in the chest and trespassing through several backyards. Officers arrested the 17-year old Marina resident for

3 battery on a peace officer, providing false names, possession of burglary tools and an outstanding felony warrant. On Saturday, at 10:45 p.m., Officer Benjamin Wagnon checked on a suspicious occupied vehicle parked to the rear of an apartment complex on the 400 block of Eastmoor Avenue. The passenger, a 39-year old Antioch resident, gave the officer a false name and was subsequently arrested for identity theft, giving false identification to a police officer and misappropriation of lost property. There were six arrests for people driving under the influence this past week. Robberies There were three robberies during the past week. On Monday, at 7:58 p.m., a 22-year old Concord resident was arrested for second degree robbery following a struggle with loss prevention officers after trying to steal merchandise from Target. He was also found to be in possession of burglary tools (an Exactoknife) and a controlled substance (concentrated cannabis) and was arrested on those charges as well. On Wednesday, at 9:55 a.m., officers were dispatched to the Dollar Tree store on Geneva Avenue on a report of a shoplifter described as a black female, approximately years of age, wearing a black raincoat with black pants. The manager approached the female after she walked out of the store without paying for the items, and the female took several swings at the manager and threw a mug at another sales associate, hitting her in the arm. The subject re-entered the store and took nine reusable bags. The subject was last seen walking north on Santos Avenue from Geneva Avenue. On Friday, at 8:40 p.m., the Walgreen s store on Mission Street was the victim of a robbery via threat of a gun by a male subject who then fled after getting money. The subject was arrested the day later. (See above Notable Cases ) Residential Burglaries There were no residential burglaries during the past week. Commercial Burglaries There were three commercial burglaries during the past week. On Tuesday, , at 4:45 a.m. the Jack in the Box restaurant was burglarized by a subject who smashed the rear door window. An arrest was made in this case. Between Friday, at 9:50 p.m. and Saturday, at 7:00 p.m., the House of Catfish and Ribs on San Pedro Road was burglarized by an unknown subject who pried open the front door and took tools. This investigation is continuing.

4 Between Friday, at 4:30 p.m. and Monday, at 5:45 a.m., a small storage area on the 200 block of Lake Merced Boulevard was burglarized by an unknown subject via an unknown means who took construction tools. Vehicle Burglaries There were nine vehicle burglaries and one attempted vehicle burglary during the past week. Unit block of Crestline Avenue multiple cases of cigarettes were taken from a 2013 Toyota Tundra. The rear window was smashed. Occurred on between 6:00 p.m. and 6:31 p.m. Outback Restaurant rear parking lot a backpack containing a laptop, birth certificate and miscellaneous items was taken from a 2013 Nissan Rogue. The rear window was smashed. Occurred on between 7:40 p.m. and 9:23 pm. Denny s parking lot unknown if anything was taken from a 1996 Acura 3.2TL. The rear passenger window was smashed. Occurred on between 7:47 p.m. and 10:47 p.m. Rio Verde Street/Geneva Avenue a backpack containing a passport, artwork and a Tifffany necklace was taken from a 2011 Mini Cooper. The right rear window was smashed. Occurred on between 11:00 a.m. and 11:05 a.m. 100 block of Canterbury Avenue an unlocked 2009 Chrysler 300 was ransacked but nothing was taken. Occurred between 4:00 p.m. on and 8:30 a.m. on block of Canterbury Avenue a wallet was taken from a 2010 Acura TL. Entry made via an unknown means. Occurred between 4:00 p.m. on and 10:15 a.m. on Casa Drive/El Dorado Drive a backpack containing a mobile hot spot, FasTrak, books and cell phone chargers was taken from a 2012 Honda Civic. The front passenger window was smashed. Occurred between 5:00 p.m. on and 4:30 a.m. on Serramonte Shopping Center near Buffalo Wild Wings a backpack containing clothing, cell phone chargers, and a Play Station 3 controller was taken from a 2014 Dodge Charger. The left rear window was smashed. Occurred on between 1:20 p.m. and 5:00 p.m. 200 block of San Fernando Way a laptop was taken from underneath the rear passenger seat of a 2015 Toyota Prius. The right rear window was smashed. Occurred between 5:00 p.m. on and 6:45 a.m. on block of Woodrow Street an attempted burglary only to a 2008 Nissan Frontier. Occurred on at 6:23 p.m. A subject was arrested in this case. Stolen Vehicles There were four vehicles stolen during the past week. Two were recovered. 200 block of Westbrook Avenue a 2003 Cadillac Escalade. Occurred between 8:00 a.m. on and 7:45 a.m. on block of alexander Avenue a 1997 Honda Civic. Occurred between 6:00 p.m. on and 7:00 a.m. on **Recovered by San Pablo P.D. on Unit block of Los Olivos Avenue a 1995 Honda Odyssey. Occurred between 9:00 p.m. on and 7:00 p.m. on **Recovered by Daly City P.D. on

5 300 block of Bellevue Avenue a 1993 Nissan Pathfinder. Occurred between midnight on and 8:00 a.m. on Scams/Other A 69 year old Daly City resident reported she was the victim of an I.R.S. telephone scam between Friday, at 3:30 p.m. and Saturday at 1:00 p.m. The victim said she received a call from someone claiming to be with the Internal Revenue Service who told her she had three allegations of misconduct with the Internal Revenue Service, including a violation of federal taxes, deflating income taxes and stealing from the government in 2011 and The caller told the victim on Friday if she didn t pay with an hour and a half, she would be arrested. He then hung up. The victim said the next day someone else called saying he was from the Internal revenue Service and again told her she would be arrested in an hour and a half if she didn t pay. A third person called and explained to the victim to go to some type of convenience store to purchase a pre-paid card so that she could pay the bill. After sending the $2,000 to the number as instructed, the victim called her son who then explained this was a scam. This has been in the news as of late, as it is tax season. PLEASE know that the Internal Revenue Service would never request this information via the telephone or ask for payment via these methods. Please alert all your friends, family, neighbors and anyone else you know that this type of scam is going on right now up and down the Peninsula. Community Events Daly City Host Lions Club Pasta Bingo The Daly City Host Lion s Club is having their annual Pasta Bingo event on Friday, April 17, 2015 from 5:30 PM to 9:00 PM at the Doelger Café in Westlake Park.
