Notable Cases On Wednesday, at approximately 5:59 a.m., a 65-year old Daly City resident was the victim of an auto/pedestrian traffic collision in the area of Mission Street and Citrus Avenue. The victim was unresponsive with trauma to her head and was transported to San Francisco General Hospital. The 32-year old driver was cooperative. The victim remains in the hospital. On Wednesday, at 4:08 p.m., Officer Bruce Perdomo and Officer Lucas Taylor were dispatched to a residence on the 600 block of Gellert Boulevard on a report of a disturbance. The reporting party said her boyfriend s brother was being verbally aggressive and throwing items inside the home. The officers arrived to the home and were advised the brother who caused the disturbance had already left the residence. Dispatchers advised the officers that the brother who remained at home was on probation and was subject to search and seizure. Officers asked if they could conduct a search of the subject s bedroom, and he consented but said he thought his probation had ended already. Officers found drug paraphernalia (a pipe and a scale) and baggies containing methamphetamine inside the subject s dresser drawers. He was issued a citation for being in possession of methamphetamine and drug paraphernalia. On Thursday, at 1:30 p.m., Officer Ryan Hyink made a traffic stop on a vehicle for unsafe lane changes near the 3600 block of Junipero Serra Boulevard. Officer Hyink began speaking to the driver who became immediately argumentative. The officer advised the driver to stay in his vehicle, and the driver pushed on the door, opened it and exited the vehicle, against the officer s direction to stay inside the vehicle. The driver, a 33-year old South San Francisco resident, was subsequently arrested for obstructing/delaying a peace officer, driving on the wrong side of the roadway, for being an unlicensed driver, and for having no proof of insurance. On Friday, at 2:50 p.m., Officer Dave Uziel stopped a vehicle in the area of Geneva Avenue and Allen Way for failing to use a hands free device. When the officer approached the

2 vehicle, he could smell a distinct odor of burnt marijuana coming from within the vehicle. The driver was on court probation with a search and seizure clause. Two of other three occupants in the vehicle provided their identification verbally, and the officer was unable to identify the third subject. The third subject told the officer that he had to go a doctor s appointment in San Francisco, and the officer advised him that he would finish his investigation and to return to the vehicle soon. When Officer Brandon Scholes arrived as a cover officer, he assisted in searching the subjects for any contraband. Officers found a semi-automatic pistol under a jacket on the floor of the rear driver side area. Three of the subjects, all 22 year olds from Daly City, Richmond and San Francisco, were arrested for possession of a firearm, tampering with the serial number of a firearm, carrying a loaded firearm, owning prohibited ammunition, and for possession of a firearm in a vehicle. An additional charge of a parole violation was added to the subject from Daly City, and a charge of committing a felony while on bail was added to the subject from San Francisco. On Saturday, at 2:09 a.m., several officers were dispatched to the area of Mission Street and Evergreen Street on a report of a male subject lighting newspapers on fire and dropping them next to cars. Officers contacted the subject who admitted to lighting the newspapers on fire, but he said it was only to see if his lighter worked. He denied intentionally dropping any lit papers near cars. Officers searched the subject and found several credit cards and driver's licenses not belonging to him. The subject said he found them on the street. Officers issued a citation to the 39-year old San Francisco resident for possession of stolen property. Robberies There was one robbery during the past week. On Saturday, between 11:00 p.m. and 11:30 p.m., a 16-year old San Francisco resident said he was walking from the Wing Stop at the Westlake Shopping Center with three of his friends and headed toward the Daly City BART station when he saw three males walking near them. He said one subject, described only as a Hispanic male years old, wearing a red sweatshirt, reached into his waist band and pulled out a small silver handgun and pointed it towards the ground. He said another subject, described as a white male years old, 6 3, wearing a black jacket and gray hoodie, pulled out a silver handgun from his back area and pointed it at his stomach. A third subject (unknown description) grabbed one of his friends and told him not to run. The victim said the second subject pointed the handgun in his face and demanded him to turn over his wallet and money. The victim said he didn t have a wallet, and the suspect then patted his pockets and took his iphone and $3. After the suspect took the phone, he told all three victims to run, and they all scattered. The victim was hit in the right ear by the grip of the handgun. The investigation is continuing. Residential Burglaries There were three residential burglaries during the past week. At unknown date prior to , a storage locker of an apartment on the unit block of Poncetta Driver was burglarized. The victim called on to report the loss of miscellaneous electronics, kitchenware and family photographs and videos. On Saturday, between 9:40 a.m. and 12:00 p.m., a residence on the 100 block of Gambetta Street was burglarized. Entry was made via a pry to the front door. The loss was currency taken from a dresser in the bedroom.

3 Between Monday, at 6:00 p.m. and Tuesday, at 9:00 a.m., a storage locker on the 200 block of Coronado Avenue was burglarized. The loss was tax paperwork. Commercial Burglaries There was one commercial burglary during the past week. Between Thursday, at 3:00 p.m. and Friday, at 11:00 a.m., a storage unit at the Public Storage facility on King Drive was burglarized. An unknown subject pried the door and took a printer. This investigation is continuing. Vehicle Burglaries There were seven vehicle burglaries during the past week. 300 block of Palmcrest Drive unknown what was taken from a 2002 Honda Civic. The method of entry is unknown. Occurred on between midnight and 5:25 p.m. **On-line report block of Skyline Drive a backpack containing schoolbooks was taken from the backseat of an unlocked 2013 Toyota Prius. Occurred on between 3:30 pm. and 4:45 p.m. Skyline Plaza parking lot a purse containing an Apple Macbook charger and miscellaneous papers was taken from the front seat of a 2008 Honda Civic. The front passenger window was smashed. Occurred on between 11:35 p.m. and 11:45 p.m. 100 block of South Mayfair Avenue a GPS unit was taken from the glove box of a 2014 Honda Civic. The front passenger window was smashed. Occurred on at 9:00 p.m. Walgreens parking lot on San Pedro Road a messenger bag containing a laptop and a video game was taken from the passenger seat of a 2011 Toyota Corolla. The driver s window was smashed. Occurred on between 6:15 p.m. and 6:30 p.m. St. Francis Square parking lot a backpack containing DJ electronics equipment was taken from a 2007 Toyota Sienna. The left rear window was smashed. Occurred on between 6:30 p.m. and 6:35 p.m. Whittier Street/Hanover Street printer maintenance kits and a vacuum cleaner were taken from a 2011 Nissan Versa. The rear passenger window was smashed. Occurred between at 8:00 p.m. and at 7:45 a.m. Stolen Vehicles There were six vehicles stolen during the past week. Three were recovered. 200 block of School Street a 2000 Chevrolet 2500 Van. Occurred between 7:00 p.m. on and 6:00 a.m. on **Recovered by San Francisco P.D. on Westlake Shopping Center near Chipotle a 1995 Honda Civic. Occurred on between 6:00 p.m. and 6:55 p.m. 455 Eastmoor Avenue (parking lot) a 2005 Chevrolet Silverado. Occurred between 6:00 p.m. on and 7:45 p.m. on

4 44 Cypress Lane (parking lot) a 1989 Acura Legend. Occurred between 11:30 p.m. on and 7:00 a.m. on **Recovered by San Francisco P.D. on Pueblo Street/Geneva Avenue a 1994 Honda Del Sol. Occurred on between 1:30 a.m. and 1:40 a.m. **Recovered by Daly City P.D. on Target parking lot a 2012 Penske truck. Occurred on between 8:09 p.m. and 8:36 p.m. Scams/Other One of our Daly City residents reported she received a voic last week from a person with a distinct Indian accent who said his name was Steve Martin and said he was calling regarding an enforcement action executed by the U.S.Treasury. The resident reported receiving a call a few weeks earlier and ignored it. In this recent voice mail message, Steve Martin said, Ignoring this will be an intentional second attempt to avoid initial appearance before a magistrate judge. and listed a phone number. Luckily our resident was not duped into this scam. Please be careful and spread the word that this is not how the U.S. Treasury operates. Community Events Free Peninsula Humane Society & SPCA Spay/Neuter Clinic On the 4 th Wednesday of every month through June, the Peninsula Humane Society and the SPCA is holding a free spay/neuter clinic at Pet Food Express at 6295 Mission Street. No dogs over 80 pounds, and no pets over 8 years old. This free service is valued at $400+ at a private vet hospital. The dates are: March 25, April 22, May 27 and June 24, and the time is 8:00-9:00 a.m. first come, served. Free Household Hazardous Waste Collection on Saturday, March 14 at City Hall Residents looking for a safe and environmentally responsible way to dispose household hazardous waste are encouraged to make an appointment for a special collection in Daly City on Saturday, March 14, 2015 from 8:30 a.m. to 12:15 p.m. in the main parking lot at City Hall, th Street, near the intersection of Sullivan Avenue. Appointments are available in 15-minute increments throughout the morning and may be made online at or by calling (650) , select option 3.

Typical household hazardous waste items include acids/bases, aerosol cans, automotive supplies (car batteries, motor oil, antifreeze, brake fluid), cleaning products, fertilizers, pesticides, flammable liquids, fluorescent lights (compact and tubes), paint, inks, and photo chemicals. All waste collected is reused, recycled, or stabilized for proper disposal to achieve zero waste being landfilled. Materials that will NOT be accepted include electronic waste (televisions, computers, and cell phones), radioactive, explosive, medical or commercially generated waste. Unwanted and expired pharmaceutical products should never be flushed down the drain or deposited into the garbage. Daly City residents can safely discard unwanted medicines in a secure drop-off box at the Daly City Police Department inside City Hall, th Street, Monday through Friday from 8:00 a.m. to 5:00 p.m. and on Saturdays from 8:00 a.m. to 12:00 p.m. If you have unwanted latex paint, you may be able to bring it to paint retailer in Daly City.
