Notable Cases On Monday, at 10:00 a.m., officers were dispatched to the Home Depot store on a report of a possible kidnapping. The reporting party said he saw a female possibly being forced into a vehicle. The reporting party gave a description of the vehicle, and Officer Haas stopped the vehicle at the parking lot of Thornton Beach Vista. In speaking with the subjects, the officers were told by one of the passengers, a 17-year old Rohnert Park resident, that she had gotten out of her friend s vehicle to urinate in the parking lot. She said she was drunk, felt faint, and had her friend help her get back into the vehicle. After a subsequent investigation, two passengers, a 23-year old Colma resident and a 27 year old transient, were arrested for public intoxication. Another passenger, a 27-year old transient was arrested for possession of a controlled substance and for possession of stolen property (jewelry, iphone and a check all taken in a robbery in San Francisco earlier). The last occupant of the vehicle, a 31-year old San Francisco resident, was arrested for possession of narcotics for sale and for possession of paraphernalia. The 17-year old was released to her mother. There was no merit to a kidnapping. On Monday, at approximately 7:49 p.m., a 31-year old Daly City resident said he was the victim of the exhibition of a deadly weapon and criminal threats by an unknown suspect. The victim said he was with his wife and kids pumping gas at the Chevron gas station on Bayshore Boulevard. He said he noticed a white Dodge Charger parked in front of the air dispenser of the gas station and said they were not using the air pump. The victim said that after he finished pumping gas, he moved his vehicle near the air pump and approached the white Dodge. He said he asked the driver if he she was going to be using the air, and the passenger stepped out of the vehicle. The victim said the passenger brandished a knife, brought it up toward the victim s chest area and said, Get the f*check back in the car or I will use this on you. The victim grabbed his cell phone and started taking photos of the vehicle. The vehicle then drove away southbound on Bayshore Boulevard. Officers were able to

2 determine the identity of the suspect, a 22-year old San Francisco resident, and a complaint is sought against him. On Monday, at approximately 8:32 p.m., a 47-year old San Francisco resident was arrested for driving under the influence of alcohol after she backed up into a parked car on the 1100 block of Skyline Drive. On Wednesday, at 11:08 a.m., Officer Shoopman and Officer Digiacomo were dispatched to an apartment on the 6200 block of Mission Street on a report pf a subject who broke into a residence and then fled on a bus. The victim said she was in her kitchen when she heard a noise near the downstairs front door. She said she saw a black male standing at the bottom of the stairs, and then as the victim was yelling her brother s name, she said the subject started to make his way up the stairs. The victim said she ran out the back of the residence with her 2-year old niece. The victim s brother asked the subject what he was doing, and he said the subject left and walked northbound on Mission Street and then got on a bus. The officers stopped the bus at Mission Street and Acton Street and talked to a subject matching the description given to them by the dispatcher. The 33-year old transient subject said he thought he was walking into a travel agency and not a residence. The subject had a toy lightsaber inside his front waistband and a glass pipe with burn marks on it in his left front pants pocket. While speaking with the subject, officers noticed that the subject was exhibiting mannerisms that one who was under the influence of a controlled substance would be making. The officers conducted tests and determined the subject was under the influence. He was subsequently arrested for residential burglary, possession of drug paraphernalia and for being under the influence of a controlled substance. On Saturday, at 3:25 a.m., a 26-year old San Francisco resident was arrested for driving under the influence of alcohol after he was involved in a crash with three parked vehicles on the 200 block of Lake Merced Boulevard. On Saturday, at approximately 10:00 a.m., Officer Rodney Chittenden was dispatched to a residence on the 3100 block of Geneva Avenue on a report of a burglary in progress. The dispatcher advised that a male family member had cut a lock off a chain and was in the residence. Other officers arrived and contacted the 66-year old victim who said her nephew had cut the lock from a chain she had on her metal gate. The victim said she formally evicted her 35-year old nephew and wanted him prosecuted for trespassing. Officers contacted the subject who said he wanted to get some clothing and didn t plan to be there long, but then he ended up resting for a while. Officers transported the subject to jail. On Sunday, at approximately 4:46 p.m., Officer Lickness and Officer Yip were dispatched to the Moonstar Restaurant on the report of two males who were possibly overdosing on drugs. The officers escorted both subjects out of the restaurant. They smelled a strong odor of an alcoholic beverage on one of the subjects, and that subject kept dozing off while the officers spoke to him. The subject said he had six beers. Officer Lickness asked the subject if he could search him, and the subject consented. The officer found two green tablets (later determined to be Xanax) in the subject s pants pocket. The subject, a 20-year old Novato resident, was transported to the station, and his condition started to deteriorate. The paramedics were called and transported the subject to Seton Hospital for treatment. After the subject was medically cleared, he was arrested and booked in jail for being under the influence of a controlled substance and for possession of a controlled substance. The other subject was released. Robberies There were no robberies during the past week.

3 Residential Burglaries There were three residential burglaries and one attempted residential burglary during the past week. On Wednesday, at 11:08 a.m., a 33-year old transient subject burglarized an apartment on the 6200 block of Mission Street while the resident was home. (See notable reports for more information). On Friday, between 3:30 a.m. and 8:00 a.m., an unknown suspect broke into a storage locker located on the unit block of Park Plaza Drive and took a Roadmaster bike and a Craftsman tool set. Between Saturday, at 10:30 p.m. and Sunday, at 7:00 a.m., a residence on the unit block of Lausanne Avenue was burglarized by an unknown suspect who forced entry through the front door. The homeowner had not yet moved into the residence, but the suspect took two Dewalt drills, a battery charger and a 2006 Honda Civic that was in the garage. (The keys were left on the washer in the garage.) On Friday, at approximately 3:16 p.m., a resident in an apartment at the Peninsula Del Rey facility on Pierce Street was the victim of an attempted burglary. The suspect did not take any items but was seen inside a resident s room. The suspect left when confronted by staff. Commercial Burglaries There were three commercial burglaries during the past week. On Wednesday, at approximately 3:15 p.m., a 38-year old San Francisco resident was arrested for burglary and possession of burglary tools after stealing over $400 of bras and leggings from the Uniqlo store. On Wednesday, between 4:45 p.m. and 5:30 p.m., an unknown suspect entered the open office of the Abounding Grace Church on the 300 block of Gellert Boulevard and took an iphone 7 and an Apple Mac Book Pro computer. On Saturday, between 11:55 p.m. and Sunday, at 6:27 a.m., an unknown suspect burglarized the Flyer s Gas station on Serramonte Boulevard and stole lottery scratchers. This case has been referred to investigators. Vehicle Burglaries There were three vehicle burglaries during the past week. 870 Campus Drive parking lot an orange phlebotomist bag containing medical supplies was taken from the trunk of a 2007 Toyota 4Runner. The method of entry is unknown. Occurred between 7:00 p.m. on and 9:00 a.m. on St. Francis Boulevard parking lot three electronic tablets and a Kodak digital camera were taken from a 2001 GMC Yukon. The method of entry is unknown. Occurred between 7:00 a.m. on and 12:00 p.m. on block of Skyline Drive an onboard computer and an ipad were taken from a 1994 Acura Integra. The method of entry is unknown. The suspect also tried to steal the vehicle by putting a key into the ignition. Occurred between 10:00 p.m. on and 9:30 a.m. on

4 Stolen Vehicles There were two vehicles stolen during the past week. Brunswick Street/Templeton Avenue a 2008 Chevrolet Impala. Occurred on between 10:45 p.m. and 10:50 p.m. The victim left the keys in the ignition. Unit block of Lausanne Avenue a 2006 Honda Civic. Occurred between Saturday, at 10:30 p.m. and Sunday, at 7:00 a.m. Miscellaneous We responded to 7 domestic disturbance cases There were 8 cases involving an involuntary psychiatric hold There were 5 vandalism cases reported There were three hit and run collisions reported Scams/Other Nothing to report Community Events/Information Volunteers needed for Make a Difference Day on Saturday, (9:00 a.m. to 12:00 p.m.) On Saturday, , Daly City celebrates its 19 th consecutive year of participation in Make a Difference Day, a National day of volunteerism. Since 1991, communities across the United States have participated in USA Weekend Magazine s Make a Difference Day, and volunteers across the United States have donated millions of hours of service for the betterment of their communities. Daly City residents are asked to Make a Difference by volunteering on one of our community projects. All volunteers are invited to attend the post-event lunch at 12:00 noon at the City Hall Plaza and Rose Garden. The lunch is generously sponsored by the Daly City Host Lions Club. This year s event is with the Top of the Hill Improvement Association (TOTHIA), to host a cleanup and garden maintenance day. There are now eight Project Green Space drought tolerant gardens on Mission Street. The activities here will include litter cleanup, weeding, mulching, painting garden signs and much more. The City will provide all the necessary supplies such as trash pickers, gloves, vests, shovels, plants, etc. to make this volunteer experience a success.
