Notable Cases On Tuesday, at 8:04 p.m., Officer Rodney Chittenden attempted to stop stolen Honda Civic on John Daly Boulevard and Park Plaza Drive. The driver of the Honda then continued east onto John Daly Boulevard and then turned onto the 19 th Avenue/Highway 1 on-ramp. Officer Chittenden activated his vehicle s emergency siren and lighting equipment, and the driver of the Honda began to accelerate and took the northbound Alemany Boulevard exit. A pursuit ensued, and the driver of the Honda attempted to squeeze through two vehicles and crashed into a stationary vehicle. Officer Chittenden ordered the driver to get to the ground, and the driver made eye contact with him and began running. Officer Bruce Perdomo, with the help of his K-9 partner Utah, detained the driver who then tried to struggle and resist the officer. Officers arrested the subject, a 35-year old San Francisco resident, for felony evading a peace officer, vehicle theft, felony hit and run with injuries, possession of a stolen vehicle, obstructing/resisting a peace officer and possession of burglary tools. The passenger, a 45-year old San Francisco resident, was taken to Saint Luke s Hospital to be treated for a head injury. On Thursday, , Officer Sean Begley was dispatched to Jefferson High School on a report of a possible sexual battery that occurred that morning. The principal said a 16-year old male student said he was walking on East Market Avenue near Second Avenue when he walked past a dark colored 4-door sedan. As he walked past the vehicle, a subject in the vehicle asked him if he knew where there was a strip club or a place to have sex. The victim said he didn t know, and the suspect said he was new to the area. The subject then asked the victim if he was going to Jefferson High School and offered him a ride. The victim was initially apprehensive but then agreed. The victim said the subject then engaged him in a sexual conversation and then began rubbing his leg and chest area, asking if this was how he liked girls to touch him. The victim was very uncomfortable, pushed the suspect s arm away and got out of the vehicle. The victim said the subject told him he was sorry and he was joking. The victim then reported this incident to the school officials. The subject was described as a Hispanic male between 20-30

2 years old, dark short hair, medium complexion, wearing reading glasses and had a slight beard. He was wearing a white long sleeve dress shirt with no tie and gray slacks. This case was referred to Detective Ron Harrison who recognized the similarities of this case to a prior case last year. The next day, with a positive identification by the victim, Detective Harrison arrested 33-year old Hugo Leiva from Daly City for annoying/molesting a child. On Saturday, at 12:01 p.m., Officer Nicholas McCarthy and Officer Lee Aquila were dispatched to the Plaza Liquor and Deli on East Market Street on a report of a female causing a disturbance. The owner said he did not want the subject in the store again because of her irate behavior and use of vulgar language. The owner said he was willing to sign a Citizen s Arrest form if the subject returned to his store. The officers advised the subject that the owner did not want her to come back to the store, and if she did, she would be arrested for trespassing. About an hour later, the officers were dispatched to the store again because the owner said the subject returned and was causing another disturbance. Officers arrested the 51-year old Daly City resident for trespassing and for a bench warrant. On Saturday, at 3:59 p.m., Officer Korey Sprader and Officer Brandon Scholes conducted a traffic stop on a vehicle for expired registration at Geneva Avenue and Bayshore Boulevard. The officers smelled an odor of marijuana coming from the vehicle. All three subjects in the vehicle had just come from the gun show, and there was a bag containing four boxes of ammunition in the vehicle. The three subjects, ages all from Oakland, were convicted felons, and they were ultimately arrested for being convicted felons in possession of ammunition. Robberies There were no robberies during the past week. Residential Burglaries There were two residential burglaries. An arrest was made in one case. On Tuesday, between 7:55 a.m. and 1:00 p.m., a residence on the 100 block of Linda Vista Drive was burglarized. An unknown subject forced entry to the sliding glass window over the front door and stole jewelry, laptops and currency. On Wednesday, at 11:00 a.m., a resident advised her 40-year old son forced open the front door to her residence on the 800 block of Niantic Avenue and took a bible. The suspect was still at the house, and officers arrested him for residential burglary. Commercial Burglaries There were no commercial burglaries during the past week.

3 Vehicle Burglaries There were four vehicle burglaries during the past week. 200 block of Lake Merced Boulevard a backpack with an ipad Air, hard drive and memory stick was taken from a 2014 Honda Civic. The right rear window was smashed. Occurred on between 12:00 p.m. and 3:19 p.m. Serramonte Shopping Center near Dick s Sporting Goods a leather bag containing identification, credit cards and cash was taken from a 2004 Mazda minivan. The front passenger window was smashed. Occurred on between 4:00 p.m. and 9:00 p.m. Serramonte Shopping Center near Target an ipad mini was taken from the rear seat of a 2008 Toyota RAV4. The front passenger window was smashed. Occurred on between 9:55 p.m. and 12:30 a.m. Serramonte Shopping Center near Target two bags of clothing were taken from the rear seat of a 2002 Acura XDM. Both the left front and left rear windows were smashed. Occurred on at 11:08 p.m. Stolen Vehicles There were two vehicles stolen during the past week. One was recovered. There was one attempted stolen vehicle this past week. 900 block of St. Francis Boulevard a 1997 Honda Accord. Occurred between 7:00 p.m. on and 10:00 a.m. on block of Northridge Drive a 2007 Chevrolet G2500 Van. Occurred on at 4:20 a.m. **Recovered by Hayward P.D. on block of 89 th Street a 2000 Cadillac Escalade was the victim of an attempted burglary. An unknown suspect pried the ignition. Occurred between 4:00 p.m. on and 9:45 a.m. on Scams/Other Nothing to report. Community Events Martin Luther King Jr. Day Holiday Observance, Monday, January 19 City offices, including libraries and recreation facilities, will be closed on Monday, January 19, City Hall will re-open at 8:00 a.m. on Tuesday, January 20. Street sweeping and parking enforcement will resume on Tuesday, January 20. Garbage and recycling collection will follow the regular schedule on Monday, January 19.

4 E-Waste Collection event Westmoor High parking lot, Saturday, January 24 In partnership with GreenCitizen, a local electronic waste recycling company, the Westmoor High PTSA will be collecting electronic waste in the parking lot from 10:00 a.m. to 2:00 p.m. This is a free drop off event. Accepted items include: computer monitors, televisions, laptops, computer equipment, UPS batteries, appliances, ink/toner cartridges, phones, stereo equipment and printers. Jefferson High School Crab Feed Fundraiser, Saturday, January 24, 2015 Jefferson High School is holding a crab feed fundraiser event at the Pacelli Gymnasium at 145 Lake Merced Boulevard on Saturday, January 24, 2015 beginning at 6:00 p.m. In addition to crab, they will be serving salad, bread, pasta with meat sauce, and dessert.
