Notable Cases On Monday, at 4:30 a.m., Officer Clinkscales and Sgt. Bowman were dispatched to a residence on the 6100 block of Mission Street on a report of a subject who believed there were people with firearms trying to break into his house. This same subject had called in earlier in the night saying a female and child were being raped inside of his house. The officers arrived, and the subject allowed them to make a protective sweep of his residence. The officers determined there was no merit to the call and believed that the subject was possible under the influence of a central nervous stimulant based on the subject s behavior and movements. Officer Clinkscales told the subject he was going to conduct some field sobriety tests, and the 21-year old subject spontaneously said he used methamphetamine a couple days ago and he was seeing things that weren t real. After conducting the tests, Officer Clinkscales determined the subject was, indeed, under the influence of a central nervous stimulant and placed the subject under arrest. On Monday, at 10:36 p.m., a 26-year old Chula Vista resident was arrested for driving under the influence after being involved in a collision with three vehicles in the area of northbound Highway 35 and Westridge Avenue. On Wednesday, at 8:00 a.m., following a traffic stop in the area of Mussel Rock, a 23-year old San Francisco resident was arrested for being in possession of a high capacity magazine and for being in possession of a narcotic (promethazine) with the name on the prescription bottle removed. On Wednesday, at 4:57 p.m., Officer Farrar and Officer Cordellos were dispatched to the parking lot of Jack in the Box on a report of a fight. The reporting party told dispatchers her son was

2 being jumped at that location. When the officers arrived, several subjects pointed towards a red Mitsubishi leaving the area. Officer Cordellos caught up to the vehicle and affected a traffic stop. The reporting party told officers that the subject in the red Mitsubishi possibly brandished a firearm at the victim as they were leaving the parking lot following a dispute. The reporting party said she saw two subjects in the parking lot who were previously in a fight with her son and confronted them, saying that one of them pointed a black handgun at her during the confrontation. After a short investigation, the officers arrested the two subjects, 19 and 21-year old Daly City residents, for disturbing the peace and exhibiting a firearm. On Friday, at 8:19 a.m., Officer Hyink was dispatched to the unit block of Brooklawn Avenue on a report of a white minivan with two subjects inside who were possibly having sex. The reporting party said the vehicle was parked there overnight. Officer Hyink contacted the subjects, and the female subject, a 38-year old San Francisco resident, was on probation. The second suspect, a 39 year old Daly City resident, was subsequently cited for possession of methamphetamine and for possession of drug paraphernalia. On Friday, at 10:53 p.m., Officer Collins and Officer Moody were dispatched to the intersection of 90 th Street and Edgeworth Avenue on a report of a drunk driver. The reporting party was on her way home from the City and called from the passenger seat while her husband drove. The reporting party said since the subject in the car almost hit several vehicles on the way home, they decided to follow him. The subject pulled over, and the reporting party s husband parked around the corner. Officers contacted the driver, a 34-year old San Rafael resident, and after conducting field sobriety tests, they arrested the driver for driving under the influence. Robberies There was one robbery during the past week. On Wednesday, at 10:51 p.m., numerous officers were dispatched to the area of Rio Verde Street and Partridge Lane on a report of a just-occurred robbery. The victim, a 29-year old Daly City resident, said she was carrying four paper grocery bags and walking northbound on the west sidewalk of Rio Verde Street and noticed a male figure walking behind her. The victim said moments later, the subject behind her asked what she had in her bags. The victim said she sopped, turned around, and the subject began looking through her grocery bags and asked her if she had any money. The victim told the subject she did not have any money, and she said the subject then brandished a black handgun holding it at hip level. The victim said out of fear, she handed her purse to the subject who then ran eastbound on Partridge Lane from Rio Verde Street. The victim described the subject as a black male adult, approximately 6 tall, average build, wearing a black bomber jacket with a hood and black pants. The victim was not injured, and the loss was a Michael Kors purse containing cash and miscellaneous items. Officers canvassed the area but could not find the subject. Residential Burglaries There were two residential burglaries during the past week. On Monday, between 1:00 a.m. and 8:00 a.m., an unknown suspect entered the unlocked front door of a residence on the 100 block of Bepler Street and took a Victoria s Secret brand backpack and three pairs of Nike shoes. On Saturday, between 9:00 a.m. and 9:30 p.m., an unknown suspect burglarized a residence on the unit block of Eastgate Drive. The method of entry is unknown, and the loss was $150 in currency.

3 Commercial Burglaries There were three commercial burglaries during the past week. On Monday, between 6:45 a.m. and 8:00 a.m., an unknown suspect cut off the pad lock to a locker in the men s locker room at the 24-Hour Fitness facility and stole the victim s wallet containing $180 and two credit cards. The victim said the suspect then made fraudulent purchases with the credit cards. This case is being investigated. Between Tuesday, at 7:45 p.m. and Wednesday, at 8:15 a.m., an unknown suspect burglarized a business on the 100 block of 87 th Street and stole a lock box, key and a cash box. On Wednesday, at 2:35 a.m., an unknown suspect forced open a rent drop box to an apartment building on the 6700 block of Mission Street and stole two envelopes. Vehicle Burglaries There were six vehicle burglaries and one attempted vehicle burglary during the past week. Southgate Preschool parking lot a bag was taken from a Mazda CX-5. The passenger window was smashed. Occurred on between 7:00 p.m. and 9:30 p.m. **On-line report made. Unit block of Royce Street sunglasses and keys to another vehicle were taken from a 2013 Nissan Rogue. The method of entry is unknown. Occurred between 9:00 p.m. on and 7:15 a.m. on block of Acton Street a camera, memory card and an ornament were taken from a 2016 Toyota 4-Runner. The vehicle was unlocked. Occurred between 5:00 p.m. on and 10:15 a.m. on Unit block of Royce Street a work vest was taken from a 2006 Dodge Magnum. The vehicle was unlocked. Occurred on between 12:00 a.m. and 11:00 a.m. Parking garage at 221 Lake Merced Boulevard 12 cats (yes) were taken from a 1998 Dodge Caravan. The left front window was smashed. Occurred on between 7:00 p.m. and 11:00 p.m block of Geneva Avenue a computer bag was taken from a 2013 Honda CRV. The passenger window was smashed. Occurred between 11:30 p.m. on and 9:55 a.m. on **On-line report made. 500 block of Atlanta Street an attempted burglary to a 2015 Toyota Sienna. Occurred on between 12:00 a.m. and 8:00 a.m. Stolen Vehicles There were eight vehicles stolen during the past week. Three were recovered. County Street/East Market Street 2016 Nissan Altima. Occurred on between 8:00 a.m. and 5:30 p.m. 100 block of Oriente Street a 2015 Toyota Sienna. The victim said her boyfriend took her car without her permission. Occurred between 8:00 p.m. on and 5:45 p.m. on **Recovered in San Francisco on Unit block of Penhurst Avenue a 1999 Honda CRV. Occurred between 10:00 p.m. on and 6:00 a.m. on **Recovered in Daly City later in the day. 300 block of Gellert Boulevard a 2016 Dodge Caravan. Occurred on at 4:53 a.m. ** Recovered by San Bruno P.D. later in the afternoon. 100 block of Velasco Avenue a 2008 BMW 335i. Occurred between 9:00 p.m. on and 9:00 a.m. on

4 6500 block of Mission Street a 1996 Jeep Cherokee. Occurred on between 1:30 a.m. and 12:30 p.m. St. Francis Boulevard/San Miguel Avenue a 1998 Honda Civic. Occurred between 10:00 p.m. on and 7:30 a.m. on Martin Street/Carter Street a 2004 Mazda RX8. Occurred between 5:00 p.m. on and 10:41 a.m. on Miscellaneous We responded to 11 domestic disturbance cases There were 10 cases involving an involuntary psychiatric hold There were 11 vandalism cases reported There were 2 hit and run collisions reported Scams/Other I.R.S. Scam This scam has been going on for years, and unfortunately another Daly City resident fell for it. The 20- year old victim reported that a subject called him saying he was from the I.R.S. and that he owed the U.S. Government for unpaid taxes. The subject told the victim he could pay the tax lien in many different ways, but he preferred the victim to use a gift card. The victim purchased a $500 Google Play gift card and stayed on the phone with the subject while he made the purchase and gave the card number and verification code to the caller. The caller then demanded an additional $600, and the victim purchased two Google Play gift cards and once again gave the codes to the caller. The victim told the caller he couldn t pay any more, and the caller said he would send the sheriffs to his door the next day if he didn t pay more money. The victim was afraid and called us. Please share this sad story to your friends, family and co-workers. The I.R.S. has repeatedly said that they do not conduct business this way, and they would never call, much less ask for gift cards as payment for unpaid taxes. Community Events/Information Household Waste Disposal Event Saturday, June 9, 2018 San Mateo County residents can safely dispose of household hazardous waste (HHW) free of charge on Saturday, June 9. To participate, residents must schedule an appointment at San Mateo County s HHW program: or by calling (650) , selecting option 3. The event location will be disclosed once your appointment has been confirmed. No commercial waste is allowed. The limit is gallons (liquid) or 50 pounds (solid) per appointment. Accepted items include acids/bases, aerosol cans, automotive supplies (car batteries, motor oil, antifreeze, brake fluid), cleaning products, fertilizers, pesticides, flammable liquids, fluorescent lights (compact and tubes), paint, inks, and photo chemicals. NO radioactive, explosive, medical or commercial waste is allowed. All waste collected is reused, recycled, or stabilized for proper disposal to achieve zero waste being landfilled.
