1 R I C H M O N D P O L I C E D E P A R T M E N T F I R S T P O L I C E P R E C I N C T Q S T R E E T First Precinct - Sector 111 Greetings, So far this year we have had 70 violent crimes compared to 55 last year. Violent crime in the month of July was 14 compared to 12 last year. Robberies went from 5 to 8 and Aggravated Assaults stayed flat at 6 compared to last year. We have made arrests in half of the robberies and have solid suspect information on others. We really need the publics help in identifying the person of interest on page 3. He is a person of interest in the armed robbery of a woman and her 9 year old son. We look forward to closing some of these in the near future. All but 1 of the Aggravated Assaults have been cleared by arrest. We continue to deal with people struggling with conflict resolution issues that resort to violence over very minor transgressions. Property crime for the month of July was up by 34% compared to last year. Burglaries went from 11 to 18 with shed burglaries accounting for a third of this crime issue. We went from 1 to 7 in this category alone. Residential burglaries were up by 5. Larcenies in general were up by 10 crimes. The notable increase in the Larceny category was All Other Larcenies. This category went from 9 to 17 an increase of 89%. These are crimes of opportunity were criminals are taking easily accessible items such as packages on porches and bicycles around houses. Other hot items have been construction equipment and cellphones left laying unattended. Theft from Motor Vehicles were flat at 13 last month and were able to arrest four juveniles connected to a number of these. Motor Vehicle Theft was up by 4 this past month. For the year, property crime is up by 4% and overall crime is up by 8%. In an effort in bring down the property crime numbers we are asking your help in helping us identify some persons of interest and locate a stolen trailer. As always you can remain anonymous and phone in your tips to myself or crime stoppers at A bit of good news after having a challenging July, 1st precinct detectives received a phone call from detectives in York County Pennsylvania reference a man wanted for homicide and home invasions from their jurisdiction that was supposed to be in the area of 2400 Venable Street. Our detectives quickly circulated pictures of the suspect and started searching. After a couple hours of searching, they were able to stop the fugitive behind Da Vinci s Pizza in the 1100 block of N 25th Street. After stopping him, the U.S. Marshalls Fugitive Task Force assisted with the arrest. The fugitive initial lied about his identity but when confronted with the facts gave up the fight. In addition to arresting him, his companion was also arrested for aiding him (See Pages 6-8 for background from the York Daily Record). Thanks to a joint effort of 1st precinct detectives and the U.S. Marshalls Fugitive Task Force a dangerous criminal was quickly taking off the streets. 6 PERSON OF INTEREST Theft of a lap top computer- Richmond Community Hospital 1500 N. 28 th St. On July 31, 2014 This individual walked into Richmond Community Hospital. Once inside the hospital, the subject took the elevator to the second floor and walked to the victim s unoccupied office. The subject took the laptop and is shown on video tucking it under his shirt. Update on Monday Jeffrey Reid, a 27-year-old man, on charges of criminal homicide and other related offenses, was arrested today in Richmond, Va., according to the U.S. Marshals Service. Deputy U.S. marshals and task force officers from the Richmond, Va. office arrested Reid without incident in the 2400 block of Venable St in Richmond, the news release states. The U.S. Marshals Service worked jointly in this investigation with personnel from the York City Police Department, Pennsylvania State Police, Latimore Township Police Department, Adams County Sheriff's Office and U.S. Marshals from the Eastern District of Virginia, the news release states.

Missing York woman was found in Virginia with homicide suspect Jeffrey Reid, family says Reported recently Homicide suspect Jeffrey Allen Reid Jr. told several witnesses Sunday that the "murder weapon" involved in a York shooting was inside a vehicle and that his fingerprints would be on it, police said. Reid, 27, said two males, "Squeeze" and "Problem," were trying to frame him for Saturday's death of Dashaun Davis, according to documents filed Tuesday charging Reid with homicide. He said that the gun used in Davis' death was in a car he had been in earlier that night, and that his DNA would be on it. Reid, of the 200 block of South Duke Street, York, was involved in two attempted home invasions earlier on Saturday one in which gunshots were fired before he allegedly shot Davis to death, the documents state. Police later seized a car, a 2004 dark-blue Cadillac SLS, and a.380-caliber handgun Reid owned, linking them to the homicide. A witness also placed Reid at the scene just before Davis' death. Davis, 23, of the 400 block of Juniper Street in York, was gunned down Saturday as he sat in the driver's seat of his car in the 200 block of Union Street. An autopsy conducted Monday determined his cause of death to be multiple gunshot wounds and his manner of death to be homicide. On Tuesday, police continued to look for Reid, York City Police Detective First Class Jeff Spence said. Reid is charged with one count of criminal homicide, one count of criminal conspiracy to commit homicide, three counts of robbery, three counts of criminal conspiracy to commit robbery and one count of persons not to possess a firearm. Police said Reid should be considered "armed and dangerous," according to a news release. Home invasions Reid's alleged criminal activity began on Saturday as police were called at 9:40 p.m. to the 400 block of East Market Street for a report of an attempted home invasion, documents state. Once there, Luis Martinez-Rojas told them he met a woman at a local bar and then brought her back to his apartment when she said she was hungry, documents state. Reid, armed with a silver handgun, and another male tried to force their way inside, documents state. After the two entered his apartment, there was a knock on the door. Meanwhile, Martinez-Rojas was able to force the males out of his apartment and lock the door. Then, at 10:54 p.m., officers were sent to a home in the 600 block of West Philadelphia Street for a shots-fired call. Once there, they spoke with the residents, who said they heard a loud bang on the apartment door, as if someone was trying to kick it open, documents state.

9 When the tenants went out back, they saw three males running from the area, and one of them shot four times from a handgun. The tenants said they had recently moved in, but that the only people who knew they moved there were Reid and a brother of one of the tenants, documents state. A witness told police he saw the three males one of whom was Reid walk up to the back of the house in the 600 block of West Philadelphia just before the gunshots rang out. The witness also said he saw a blue Cadillac speed away from the area, nearly hitting another car, just after the shots were fired, documents state. Homicide investigation When police responded to Davis' shooting, they found he was missing his Samsung Galaxy S3 cellphone, documents state. They also found the Cadillac in the 200 block of Union Street. Searching the car, police found the gun and two live rounds still inside it, documents state. About 15 seconds later, four to five shots were heard from the area, documents state. A witness placed Reid at the scene of the homicide on Saturday night, documents state. The witness told police that they saw Reid and a woman leaving a home in the 300 block of North Newberry Street, and then walk northbound, then westbound onto the 200 block of Union Street. About 15 seconds later, four to five shots were heard from the area, documents state. Neither Reid nor the woman were seen for the rest of the night.
