Notable Cases On Tuesday, at 7:42 p.m., Officer Shiu conducted a traffic stop on a vehicle at Gellert Boulevard near Serramonte Boulevard after seeing the vehicle drive through a red light. The driver apologized and said she thought she could beat the light. The driver told the officer she did not have a driver's license and showed the officer her California identification card. Dispatchers advised the driver had a suspended driver's license. After receiving that information, Officer Shiu asked the driver to step out of the vehicle. The officer asked the driver if there was anything illegal in the vehicle, and the driver said there was not. The officer searched the vehicle and found a medicine bottle containing individually packaged twisties in the subject s purse. Each twisty contained a white rock-like substance believed to be cocaine. The subject, a 34-year old San Francisco resident, said she forgot she had drugs in her purse. Officer Shiu continued to search the vehicle and found a stun gun in the glove compartment. The subject was arrested for possession of a controlled substance for sale, transportation of a controlled substance for sale, being a convicted felon in possession of a stun gun, and for driving with a suspended driver's license. On Wednesday, at 4:52 p.m., Officer Perez saw an occupied vehicle in a parking stall at Brandon Court and Martin Street. The front passenger door was open, and a subject was sitting in the front passenger seat. The officer asked the subject if he lived in the area, and the subject said he didn t and was waiting for a friend. The subject advised he was on probation, and the officer asked him if he had any illegal narcotics or weapons on him. The subject said he didn t and consented to being searched. Officer Hyink arrived to assist Officer Perez. The dispatchers advised the vehicle was stolen from San Francisco. The subject, a 32-year old transient, was arrested for vehicle theft and for possession of a stolen vehicle. On Thursday, at 2:28 p.m., Officer Fulmore conducted a traffic stop at 88 th Street and Sullivan Avenue on a vehicle with expired registration. The driver initially gave a false name to the officer. When the officer asked the driver to step out of the vehicle, he saw a blunt on the driver s side

2 floorboard. The officer asked the driver if there was anything illegal in the vehicle, and the driver said the only thing was the blunt and some marijuana in her purse. The driver consented to being searched and emptied her pockets. The officer noticed a bulge in the driver s bra, and the driver said she had money in there. The officer said it appeared she was attempting to conceal something. The officer asked the passenger to step out of the vehicle. The officer found a small amount of marijuana and a stun gun inside the driver s purse. The driver, a 36-year old San Francisco resident, was arrested for being a felon in possession of a stun gun, possession of drug paraphernalia, driving with an expired driver's license, providing false information to a peace officer and for possession of marijuana under 28 grams. The passenger, a 32-year old San Francisco resident, was issued a citation for possession of a controlled substance and possession of drug paraphernalia. On Friday, at 11:24 p.m., officers were dispatched to the Walgreen s at Westlake Shopping Center on a report of a subject causing a disturbance. The dispatchers gave a description of the subject and said the subject was fighting with security outside of the store. When officers arrived, the security officer said the subject brandished a knife and left the scene on foot. Officers found the subject at the Chevron gas station on John Daly Boulevard, and the subject ignored the officers request for the subject to stop. The subject, a 39-year old North Hollywood resident, was subsequently arrested for brandishing, being under the influence of a controlled substance, resisting arrest, providing false information to a peace officer, and for possession of narcotics paraphernalia. On Saturday, at 8:37 p.m., officers were dispatched to the Royal Palace Inn on the report of a possibly mentally ill female. Dispatchers advised that the female caller said she was being stalked by her ex-husband and was stuck at the hotel. She also claimed that there were 20 unknown vehicles following her, and that she suspected her ex-husband of hiring them. The reporting party told the dispatchers that she would be waiting for the officers in the manager s office. When officers arrived, they saw the female waving her hands frantically at them. A male who was with her quickly exited the office towards one of the hotel rooms. The female spoke with Officer Collins, and the officer said she appeared very fidgety, paranoid and exhibited signs of being under the influence of a stimulant. Because of this, the officer decided to talk to her friend who was initially with her but who went into a hotel room. When Officer Collins was speaking to the male, he noted that he also exhibited signs of being under the influence and appeared to be experiencing a bout of paranoia. The male, a 49-year old transient, was subsequently arrested for being in possession of a controlled substance for sales, being under the influence of a controlled substance, possession of unlawful paraphernalia, destroying/concealing evidence and for a probation violation. The female, a 44-year old Menlo Park resident, was arrested for being under the influence of a controlled substance. Robberies There were no robberies during the past week. Residential Burglaries There were four residential burglaries and one attempted residential burglary during the past week. On Wednesday, between 12:30 p.m. and 4:00 p.m., a residence on the 200 block of North Parkview Avenue was burglarized. Entry was made via a pry to the security gate and front door of the residence. The loss was currency, jewelry, a laptop, an ipad, and three pairs of shoes. On Wednesday between 7:37 p.m. and 7:47 p.m., three unknown suspects shattered a window to a bedroom door at a residence on the 200 block of Bay Ridge Drive. The alarm was triggered, and the suspects fled. The resident s security footage captured one subject holding a black handgun. Suspect #1 was described as a male, years old, 5 8, 180 lbs., average build, wearing a hoodie, mask, light colored pants, black shoes and black gloves. Suspect #2 was described as a male, years old, 5 8, 160 lbs., slim build, wearing a hoodie, dark pants, gloves and possibly Nike Airmax shoes. Suspect #3 was described as a male, years old, 6 0, 200 lbs., heavy set

3 build, wearing a hoodie, dark pants, and black Nike foam shoes. The subjects fled in a silver SUV with tinted windows. This investigation is continuing. On Thursday, between 2:00 p.m. and 8:30 p.m., a residence on the 900 block of Martin Trail was burglarized. An unknown suspect(s) entered the back yard and smashed the rear sliding glass window to gain entry. The loss is to be determined. On Thursday, between 6:30 p.m. and 8:30 p.m., a residence on the 300 block of Bayridge Drive was burglarized. Entry was made via a smash to the backyard window/door. The loss was jewelry, clothing and designer hand bags. On Tuesday, at 11:01 a.m., a resident on the 400 block of Price Street said she was in the shower and heard a loud banging on the front door and window. The victim said she heard a male subject yelling to open the door. The front door was forced open, but it is unknown if the suspect actually made entry into the residence. The victim could only describe the suspect as a Hispanic male adult, with black hair and wearing a white shirt. She said the suspect drove away in a red Nissan SUV. Commercial Burglaries There were two commercial burglaries during the past week. On Monday, between 2:00 p.m. and 6:30 p.m., an unknown suspect burglarized a storage locker at the Public Storage facility on Mission Street. The victim told the employee at the storage facility that someone broke into his locker where he had marijuana plants hanging from the ceiling. The victim had a medical marijuana card and said he was drying marijuana for personal use and did not sell it. This investigation is continuing. On Wednesday, between 7:30 p.m. and 9:00 p.m., an unknown suspect cut the padlock off a locker at the Planet Fitness facility and stole the victim s wallet containing a driver's license, debit and credit card and currency. Vehicle Burglaries There were nine vehicle burglaries and one attempted vehicle burglary during the past week. 300 block of Santa Barbara Avenue a car starter/jumper battery was taken from a 2013 Toyota Corolla. The right rear wing window was smashed. Occurred between 5:00 p.m. on and 5:00 p.m South Hill Boulevard/Cloister Way a pair of earrings was taken from a 2015 Toyota Corolla. The right rear window was smashed. Occurred between 1:30 a.m. on and 9:00 p.m. on th Street/Junipero Serra Boulevard luggage containing suits, pants and a credit card was taken from a 1992 Volvo station wagon. The right rear window was smashed. Occurred between 10:00 p.m. on and 7:10 a.m. on block of San Diego Avenue clothing was taken from a 1999 BMW 528i. The method of entry is unknown. Occurred between 9:00 p.m. on and 6:15 a.m. on block of San Diego Avenue a Windows tablet was taken from a 2006 Chrysler 300. The driver s window was left slightly open. Occurred between 9:00 p.m. on and 6:15 a.m. on block of San Diego Avenue cologne, a FasTrak device, shoes, headphones, a dress, an ipad and a camera bag containing a Canon powershot camera and miscellaneous equipment was taken from a 2003 Chevrolet Tahoe. The method of entry is unknown. Occurred on between midnight at 7:15 a.m.

4 100 block of Parkview Avenue construction tools were taken from a 2000 Lincoln Navigator. The rear window was smashed. Occurred between 5:00 p.m. on and 3:00 a.m. on block of Parkview Avenue clothing and bags were taken from a 2001 Chrysler Town and Country. The side windows were smashed. Occurred between 8:00 p.m. on and 2:00 a.m. on block of Parkview Avenue clothing was taken from a 2002 Dodge Caravan. The rear window was smashed. Occurred between 5:00 p.m. on and 3:00 a.m. on South Hill Boulevard/Cloister Way an attempted burglary to a 2015 Ford Taurus. The right front window was smashed, but no property was taken. Occurred between 4:30 p.m. on and 10:00 a.m. on Stolen Vehicles There were four vehicles stolen during the past week. Two were recovered. Unit block of Northgate Avenue a 2002 BMW 325i. Occurred w 8:00 p.m. on and 8:00 a.m. on Alexander Street/Evergreen Avenue a 2005 Toyota Tundra. Occurred between 1:00 p.m. on and 5:40 p.m. on **Recovered by CHP-Los Banos on Jack in the Box parking lot a 2005 Ford F550. Occurred between 11:00 p.m. on and 6:30 a.m. on **Recovered by Emeryville P.D. on block of 87 th Street a 1995 Honda Civic. Occurred between 8:00 p.m. on and 9:00 a.m. on Miscellaneous There was one hit and run crash We responded to 3 domestic disturbance cases There were 7 cases involving an involuntary psychiatric hold We made 7 warrant arrests Scams/Other Lottery Ticket Scam On Friday, , at approximately 3:51 p.m., hours, a 76-year old Daly City resident was the victim of a confidence scheme. The victim said she was at the Smart and Final store on Mission Street when she was approached by a female who asked her where a certain church was. The victim said another female came along and started talking to them. The first female said she just won the lottery. The victim didn t believe them, and the second female suspect told the first female suspect to call the phone number on the back of the lotto ticket and put the phone on speaker mode so the second suspect and the victim could hear the operator. The operator asked the first suspect to provide the number on the back of the ticket, and the first suspect complied. The operator told the suspect she just won $1 million dollars but she would have to deposit $90,000 in cash. The suspects convinced the victim that she could receive a huge portion of the lottery money by splitting the deposit with them. The victim agreed and said she drove the second suspect to get her part of the deposit first and then drove to one bank to withdraw half of the deposit and then drove to the Wells Fargo Bank at Serramonte Shopping Center to get a loan for the other half of the cash. After getting the cash, the victim said the first suspect asked her to go back into the bank to grab her W-2 forms, and the victim agreed. The victim said she trusted the two suspects and left the $45,000 in her vehicle. When the victim returned,

5 the two suspects and the money were gone. The victim said the entire conversation between the subjects was in Spanish, and stated both suspects were from Ecuador. The first suspect is described as a Hispanic female approximately 5 5, 180 lbs., black medium length hair, black shirt and black pants. The second suspect is described as a Hispanic female, approximately 5 2, 140 lbs., brown hair, wearing a white shirt and blue jeans. The suspects may have left in a black BMW SUV. Community Events/Information Light up Our World Festival Saturday, at 5:00 p.m. - 9:30 p.m. at City Hall The Daly City Arts & Culture Commission invites you to the Light up Our World festival on Saturday, November 19 th from 5:00 p.m. to 9:30 p.m. Light symbolizes enlightenment, creativity, joy, hope and unity. HICAP (Health Insurance Counseling and Advocacy Program) presentation- Tuesday, Medicare Open Enrollment Period - Oct. 15 through Dec. 7 - is when Medicare rolls out new Part C and Part D plans for the following year. At this time beneficiaries may shop around and switch plans to save money, get a better deal on prescriptions or find a plan that s ideal for their current needs. Serramonte Library is hosting a presentation focused on the period by nonprofit HICAP (Health Insurance Counseling and Advocacy Program) of San Mateo County. State-registered HICAP counselor/community educator Diane Caradeuc will explain the importance of the period and how HICAP can help beneficiaries save. The presentation will take place at Tuesday, November 22 from 6:00 p.m. to 7:00 p.m. HICAP provides free, unbiased and confidential counseling at 28 sites throughout the county.
