3 Braithwell can be found in pleasant countryside just a few miles from Rotherham and lying close to Maltby. The parish church dedicated to St. James is the village s oldest structure, dating back to Norman times. The appearance of the church sitting serenely in a wooded churchyard amongst ancient graves and tombs, is quite stunning. Braithwell lies at the centre of a largely rural community, the surrounding landscape is mostly of farms and leafy lanes. The village itself is a constant delight, it has narrow streets full of traditional stone properties, mixed with the brick and render of more recent times. This is an ideal place to stay for those wishing to explore the beautiful Rother Valley, visit historic Roche Abbey or to simply soak up the atmosphere of a ribbon of ancient Yorkshire hamlets, towns and villages. Braithwell is in close proximity to Doncaster, Rotherham, Worksop, and Sheffield as well as many local attractions and places to visit, including Roche Abbey, Conisbrough Castle, and Thrybergh Country Park to name a few. The village of Braithwell has plenty to offer its residents and benefits from excellent transport links for the motorways and airports, making it an ideal base for commuters who prefer a gentle pace of life but wish to be within easy reach of work and cultural pursuits. In naming our new estate road Doncaster Council agreed to a request by the Victoria Cross Society to name new developments after recipients of the Victoria Cross. Thomas Bryan served with the Northumberland Fusiliers from and was awarded the Victoria Cross whilst in Arras, France in Thomas Bryan was originally from the Doncaster area thus, our new road will be known as Bryan Court.
