It is also the closest north coast settlement to Truro which is only about 15 minutes drive away to the city centre. LOCATION Wheal Turnavore is found in the lightly populated West Polberro area of St Agnes on the cliffs above Trevaunance Cove. The South West Coast Path leads down to the golden sandy beach which has excellent surfing conditions. The area is designated as one of Outstanding Natural Beauty, of great historic value, of Special Scientific Interest and is also within a designated Cornwall Wildlife Trust site. The area is well known for walking, horse riding and mountain biking with many paths along the coast leading around to Chapel Porth and also inland over St Agnes Beacon one of Cornwall s highest and most visible landmarks.

4 4 The friendly and community centred village of St Agnes offers a good number of amenities including butchers, grocers, fish shop, bakery, post office, restaurants, doctor and dentist, various inns and a primary school. There are village parties throughout the year including the wonderful Giant Bolster Parade where a man dressed as a giant roams the streets! The cathedral city of Truro is about 7½ miles away and offers Cornwall s foremost range of shopping, business, commercial and both state and private schooling facilities. St Agnes is the nearest and most picturesque of Cornwall s north coast villages to Truro and as such is held in high regard. The A30 expressway is about 3 miles away and links Cornwall to the motorway network at Exeter, as well as providing quick access throughout the county. The nearest railway stations are at Redruth and Truro on the main Penzance to Paddington line with journey times to London being around 4½ hours. Newquay Airport at St Mawgan is about 25 minutes drive away and has regular internal and international flights including to London.
