Maripsa venue El Segund, C PROJECT DESCRIPTION: The intent f the prpsed Prject is t cmply with the Transprtatin, Treasury, Husing and Urban Develpment, the Judiciary, District f Clumbia, and Independent gencies pprpriatins ct, 2006 Public Law [P.L.] ), Nvember 30, P.L requires cmpletin f RS imprvements by airprt spnsrs that hld a certificate under Title 14, Cde f ederal Regulatins CR), Part 139, Certificatin and Operatins: Land irprts Serving Certain ir Carriers, such as LX, t meet airprt design standards by December 31, LW prepared an RS Practicability Study and cncluded that the existing RS fr Runway 7L/25R des nt meet current airprt design standards and imprvements t the RS were needed. dditinally, Runway 7L/25R, as the primary departure runway n the suth airfield, and its cnnecting taxiways, which prvide the main access t bth Suth irfield runways, handle a large amunt f traffic. Due t heavy usage, the pavement n the east end f bth the runway and taxiways has deterirated ver the years and needs recnstructin. The recnstructin f the runway and taxiway will frce their temprary clsure and necessitate the extensin f Taxiway C t maintain access t Runway 7R/25L. T cmply with standards fr taxiway centerline t fixed r mvable bjects, ir reight Building N. 8 will be demlished and the Grund Service Equipment GSE) maintenance uses currently hused in the building, relcated t a new GSE Maintenance acility. It shuld be nted that the prpsed Prject wuld nt result in increased r decreased aviatin activity at LX cmpared t existing cnditins. Specifically, the prpsed Prject wuld include: 1) Runway 7L/25R RS Imprvements including extending the Runway 7L/25R pavement; grading and cmpacting the RS; cnstructing blast fences west f the Runway 7L extensin; several taxiways mdificatins as necessary; relcating the existing Lcalizer ntenna and blast fences t the west; replacing the existing pprach Lighting System LS) twers with in-pavement lights; and mdifying the existing Runway and Taxiway lighting and markings in the newly cnstructed pavements; 2) Pavement Recnstructin f the Eastern Prtins f Runway 7L/25R and Taxiway B including cnnecting taxiways and installatin f in-pavement apprach lights; 3) Taxiway C Extensin and Demlitin f ir reight Building N. 8 including realigning an existing service rad nrth f Taxiway C; realignment and eastward extensin f Taxiway C; and the paving f the ir reight Building N. 8 site; and 4) Cnstructin f a GSE Maintenance acility which LX Runway 7L/25R RS Prject and ssciated Imprvements Page 1
