These events are held in the USA and we wish Brett and Nigel, and the ther five PSQ members wh are travelling t the USA all the best fr these majr cmpetitins. Shting Australia Cme and Try May Cmmnwealth Games 2018 The Cmmnwealth Games shting prgram n the Belmnt Shting Cmplex prvided a great pprtunity fr a very psitive prmtin fr ur sprt.

Many psitive cmments and cmpliments were expressed by the Games rganisers abut the wrk dne by ur vlunteers.

It was interesting t find that many spectatrs were nt familiar with shting (pistl; rifle r shtgun) as a sprt, and were very impressed by what they saw.

2 Shting Australia Cme and Try May Cmmnwealth Games 2018 The Cmmnwealth Games shting prgram n the Belmnt Shting Cmplex prvided a great pprtunity fr a very psitive prmtin fr ur sprt. Our pistl team wn a medal in each event, finishing up with ne gld; three silver and ne brnze. A sincere thankyu t all the PSQ members wh vlunteered t wrk at the Games. Many psitive cmments and cmpliments were expressed by the Games rganisers abut the wrk dne by ur vlunteers. Such were the crwds that nt all the spectatrs culd be catered fr n the ranges and in the grandstands, and had t fllw the Finals via the big screen in the Spectatr Plaza. It was interesting t find that many spectatrs were nt familiar with shting (pistl; rifle r shtgun) as a sprt, and were very impressed by what they saw. Their supprt fr ur shters in the Finals was fantastic and it was great t see such a psitive respnse t ur sprt. The Shting Australia laser shting bth put thrugh ver 1300 peple during the Games and sme f these peple have nw registered fr the Shting Australia Natinal Cme and Try May days arund the state. Shting Australia s idea f a Natinal Cme & Try Day called Cme and Try May was put t ur 2017 Cnference delegates in Nvember last year, by SA s Cmmunity Develpment Officer, Jaime Drumm. The main aim f this initiative is t increase participatin in ur sprt. Many f the PSQ clubs represented at the Cnference expressed their interest in this idea, understanding that there shuld be sme leverage frm the Cmmnwealth Games and the interest that wuld be sparked there. Disappintingly there has nt been an enthusiastic uptake by PSQ clubs t be part f this natinal initiative and prmtin by the peak bdy fr the shting sprts: Shting Australia. Only a very small number f clubs have taken the pprtunity t prmte their club and the sprt in their area. Club registratins are nw being taken fr 2019 Cme & Try May. Blue Card Cmmittee members, and any club members having anything at all t d with junirs (under 18 years f age) shuld have a Blue Card, fr vlunteers. Applying fr a Blue Card is a simple prcess and can be dne using Pistl Shting Queensland as the Blue Card recgnised rganisatin. 2

3 This is a Queensland Gvernment recmmendatin and PSQ requires all its Bard Members; Crdinatrs; Caches; Range Officers and WSC Trainers t have a Blue card. PSQ Open Shts The fllwing shuld be checked each day. 1. Categry H Licence 2. PSQ membership card 3. PA Hlster accreditatin (fr hlster events) The sighting f the Categry H licence is a requirement f the Queensland Weapns Act. This als applies t weekly events at club level it shuld be a quick and simple prcess. Members wh can t prduce their Cat H licence must nt participate, and cannt sign a Frm 33 as an alternative. A Frm 33 is fr nn - Cat H licence hlders nly. Weapns Licensing Newsletter 01/2018 This WL Newsletter was frwarded n t all club Secretaries n 11 April. T summarise: Office WL Weapns Licensing will be available fr telephne inquiries n Mnday, Tuesday, Thursday and Friday between 9am and 4pm. Remember that Weapns Applicatins Online, via ur website, is available fr a Licence Renewal, Change f Circumstance, New Applicatin and Permit t Acquire applicatins. Club Apprval Letter T cmply with Sectin 100 f the Weapns Regulatin 2016 and Sectin 132 f the Weapns Act 1990, club apprvals must prvide the fllwing: 1. Calibre 2. Actin 3. Barrel Length 4. Descriptin f the firearm Barrel length is nt required fr Black pwder pistls. The club letter must include the type f firearm applied fr with a barrel length as: >than 100mm (nt semi-autmatic) r > 120mm (semi-autmatic). T streamline the prcess, it is recmmended yu cnsider adding the belw details t yur current club apprval letters: > than 100mm (nt semi-autmatic) is permitted fr use > than 120mm (semi-autmatic) is permitted fr use Officials Curses: 1. Great wrk by Suth Burnett PC members! Nine members gained Level 1 RO accreditatin n March. 2. Tw members gained Level 2 RO Actin Pistl accreditatin at the Twmba PC n 3-4 March. 3. Tw members gained Level 2 RO accreditatin in Metallic Silhuette at the Tglawah PC n April One new Hlster Examiner was accredited at the Twmba PC n 25 March. 5. Rex Wigney f the Qld Shting Assciatin prvided a Range Operatr Curse at the Twmba PC n 22 April. Well dne t everyne wh participated in the abve and t the Judges and fficers wh prvided the abve curses fr ur clubs and members. Caching: Cach the Shter sessins have been held, t date, at: Cairns TSC Services/WA Feb FNQ ISSF 25 Feb Caching is planned fr Warwick; Suth Burnett and Rckhamptn clubs, but we need many mre requests fr Caching, fr any f the fllwing: 1. Yung Athlete Travel Subsidy (YATS) ISSF Pistl Australia Natinals Brisbane 2018 We are lking fr PSQ members t help ut at the Pistl Australia Natinals which will be held frm 6-10 June this year, at the Brisbane Internatinal Shting Centre. Frm the Qld Gvernment and the Department f Natinal Parks Sprt and Racing: The Yung Athletes Travel Subsidy aims t fster the develpment f yung athletes and supprt elite athlete pathways by prviding financial assistance t help alleviate the csts assciated with attending champinship events. The travel subsidy prvides financial assistance thrugh three event tiers and supprts attendance at specific state, natinal and internatinal events. Officials (such as caches, referees and scrers) fficiating at eligible events can als apply fr assistance if they meet the eligibility criteria. The travel subsidy will allw up t a maximum f $1,200 in financial assistance ver the three event tiers, nce every tw calendar years. Eligible athletes and fficials can apply fr ne event per tier nce every tw calendar years. The fllwing travel subsidy amunts are available under the three event tiers: state r state schl event $200 natinal r natinal schl event $400 internatinal event $600. Applicatins must be crrectly submitted within six mnths f attending the event t be eligible.
