1 BCHA Vlunteer Hurs Reprting Guide List each participant in the prject and their individual cntributin t the prject: Wrk hurs. Miles f trail maintained. (Wilderness areas and nn-wilderness) Travel time t get t and frm the prject site. Miles driven in persnal vehicles. Miles hauling stck t and frm the prject site. Treasury and persnal expenses t supprt the prject. 2. Summarize the effrt n a particular prject. The VHC enters the prject ttals reprted by the prject leader (i.e. ttal hurs fr all vlunteers, ttal trail mileage, stck usage etc.). 3. Aggregate the effrt f a number f vlunteers wrking n several minr prjects. Typically this is the effrt reprted by individuals directly t the VHC. 4. Fr tips n entering and cpying data fr reprts see the tips n using MS Excel in Appendix C. Actual hurs spent scheduling, crdinating and planning wrk rides within the chapter as well as crdinating rides with agencies and/r agency representatives. Actual hurs ging t and frm prjects, educatinal r public meetings Actual persnal vehicle miles frm hme t prjects, educatinal r public meetings and return nly the driver reprts miles. Actual miles using a truck and/r trailer rig t haul animals AND/OR Heavy equipment etc. t prjects and back. Only Driver reprts miles. (Claim either stck hauling r persnal miles but nt bth, unless the prject has bth then claim the actual miles hauling stck/equipment and the miles using persnal vehicles.) Ttal actual hurs using persnally wned pwer equipment n prjects (e.g. Chainsaws, weed whackers, mixers, etc.) Ttal hurs charged at hurly rate fr heavy equipment used n prjects. (e.g. Tractrs, Pst Drivers, Backhes, etc.) Stck Used Number f livestck used t cmplete a prject. Stck Days The number f animals times the number f days used. (e.g. If 2 animals are used fr ne day that equals 2 stck days. If 2 animals are used fr 2 days that equals 4 stck days.) If a prtin f a trail has been previusly cleared r wrked n, but again fr a secnd r third time still needs mre maintenance, that sectin shuld be cunted each time it is wrked n. 4 Often several peple will travel tgether using ne trailer fr several animals. Basic: Trail Maintenance (cut, lp, clear, drainage) Prep wrk fr skilled wrk. Skilled: Recn: Packing, Carpentry, Bridge Cnstructin, Teamster, Search and Rescue, Trail survey, GPS, Chainsaw peratin, Organizatin fr majr wrk parties. Hurs ridden in advance planning fr a trail prject. What Cunts: Trail clearing and Trailhead clean up, rad clean up. Trail wrk n public land r pen private lands. Onsite supprt r fd prep fr wrk parties. Campgrund hst if agency requested/required. Planning and Prep wrk fr future wrk parties. Reprt hurs ridden fr advance planning a trail prject t determine the level f effrt required as Recn Hurs. What Desn't Cunt: Cleaning up after yurself n the trail r at the trailhead. Trail wrk n yur wn prperty r ther private prperty nt pen t the public. Wrk Miles Recrd the actual miles f trail maintained. Distinguish between miles cleared in wilderness and nn-wilderness areas. Use either a GPS system r use a best guess system f the distances cleared. If a prtin f a trail has been previusly cleared, but needs t be wrked again, that sectin shuld be cunted each time it is wrked. Vlunteering at a hmeless shelter, etc. Time spent publicly representing the BCHA in a prductive manner. Fund raisers: as lng as the public benefits example: Pker ride, Tack Sale. What Desn't Cunt: BCH chapter meetings. State and natinal bard meetings. Parade prep time - unless yur chapter is preparing an elabrate display. Only the driver recrds the persnal vehicle miles (thers recrd as travel time) If yur are hauling stck, hauling heavy equipment, r a trailer f sme srt, recrd yur miles under stck hauling. Yu shuld nly recrd yur miles under ne r the ther, nt bth. If yu drive ten miles t the barn and pick up yur trailer and hrses then drive 20 miles t the site yu wuld then recrd 20 miles persnal, and 40 miles stck hauling (rund trip). If yu are using yur vehicle as a means t take crews t and frm wrk pints, cunt the miles that yu drive t get yur crew t their lcatins and back. Stck Hauling: Actual miles using a truck and/r trailer rig t haul animals AND/OR Heavy equipment etc. t prjects and back. Only Driver reprts miles. (Claim either stck hauling r persnal miles but nt bth) Equipment Lg the hurs that small pwer tls r heavy equipment are used. Hwever, the time carrying equipment t the lcatin cunts as unskilled wrk. If yu are packing them n stck cunt them as carg and nly cunt the time that yu use them but remember t cunt yur entire stck time (packing is skilled labr). Pwer Equipment: Chain Saws, Weed Whackers, Trimmers. Mechanical wheel barrels, quads, Lawn mwers etc. Chainsaw fuel, il and blades shuld be cunted as cash dnatins. Heavy Equipment: Trailers, dump trucks, saw mills etc. Tractrs, dzers, graders etc. Prepping heavy equipment and lading it befre yu use it cunts as skilled labr. Rental fees and fuel fr heavy equipment shuld be cunted under cash dnatins. Stck Use Cunt hw many stck are used fr hwever many days; any part f a day cunts as ne whle day. Yu can keep track f the carg packed and als track the miles. Of all the stck infrmatin that yu can recrd abut stck use, the Stck Days are the mst imprtant. Stck Used Number f saddle and pack stck used t cmplete a prject. Stck Days The number f saddle and pack stck used times the number f days used n the prject. Fr Example: 1 animal used fr 1 day is reprted as 1 stck days. 2 animals used fr 1 day is reprted as 2 stck days. 2 animals used fr 3 days are reprted as 6 stck days. If an animal is used fr part f a day, reprt as 1 stck day regardless hw lng it was actually used. When wrking with pack animals, hurs are cnsidered skilled. Page 7
