33 SSN, ITIN & Taxes Scial Security Number The Scial Security Number's primary purpse is t track emplyees in the payrll systems f their emplyer t make prper tax and ther deductins t reprt t the Internal Revenue Service (IRS), the tax authrity f the United States.

35 SSN, ITIN & Taxes Individual Taxpayer Identificatin Number (ITIN) An ITIN is required fr students wh receive taxable incme but are ineligible fr a SSN, such as stipend recipients. If yu will receive a stipend and will nt have a jb, yu will need an ITIN. Detailed infrmatin abut the applicatin prcess is available n ur website.

36 SSN, ITIN & Taxes Taxes All F-1 r J-1 students and their F-2/J-2 dependents MUST file IRS tax frms every year, regardless f emplyment r incme. Tax frms are due April 15 fr thse with incme, June 15 fr thse with n incme. OIA will prvide sftware and hst tax wrkshps in March. Yu will receive reminders in winter quarter.
