Cking Limited cking is permitted in designated cking areas (i.e. kitchens). Residents are respnsible fr cleaning the kitchen and their dishes immediately after use. Please see the Area Office fr specifics. Jacksn Curt Service Desk The Jacksn Curt service desk is lcated n the first flr f O Brien Hall. General services include campus infrmatin, equipment sign-ut, and check-in/check-ut assistance. The service desk is clsed during Thanksgiving, winter, and spring breaks. 4 4 O Brien has an indr bike rm n the first flr that is available fr all students t sign up fr. T reserve a space, please stp by the ffice during nrmal business hurs t d s. Yu will be given a space number and card access t the rm. Quiet and Curtesy Hurs Quiet hurs are in effect Sun Thurs, 12am t 8am. Fri and Sat quiet hurs are 2am t 10am. Curtesy hurs are 24 hrs a day. Please nte: A resident s right t study r sleep takes precedence ver anther s right t make nise. Alchl and Drugs The legal drinking age in New Yrk State is 21 years f age. Residents f legal drinking age may cnsume alchl in the privacy f their rm and/r in their suite with ther f age peers. - Underage drinking is a vilatin f State law and University plicy. Residents wh vilate the law and the plicy will be subject t disciplinary actin. - Funnels, beer-png (Beirut) tables, ther drinking game paraphernalia, kegs, mini-kegs, beer balls, bxed wine, and ther multi-serving cntainers are als PROHIBITED. - Hsts are respnsible fr the behavir f their guests at all time. Please cnsult the Alchl Plicy fr these standards. - All illegal substances (any drug nt prescribed t yu) and all drug paraphernalia are PROHIBITED. Scial Gatherings Parties are NOT PERMITTED in the residence halls. Parties are defined by behavir and atmsphere, as well as excess f rm ccupancy. While we encurage ur residents t be scial, they shuld d s withut breaking any University, State, r Lcal laws (including, but nt limited t underage drinking, drinking games, and/r nise plicies). Scial gatherings will be asked t disband if there are any disturbances t the cmmunity. Bar-be-cues Charcal grills are permitted but MUST be used 30 ft. / 10 meters away frm the buildings. Feel free t use the BBQ grill next t the sand vlleyball curt behind Andersn r t set up a charcal grill away frm the building. Cals shuld be emptied int exterir (metal) trash cntainers. Call facilities/smerset fr charcal remval. Please stre all flammable material ff campus r buy and use immediately. The wner f the grill may be subject t disciplinary actin if nt in cmpliance with UR plicies. Residential Life Plicy Infrmatin The fllwing is a partial listing f the plicies f mst day-t-day cncern fr residents: Fire Safety Candles, incense, prpane, charcal, lighter fluid, firewrks, r any pen-cil and pen-flame devices, taping dr handles and tampering with dr handles are nt allwed in ur halls. Please be aware f everyne s safety. If yu

5 5 cver a smke detectr yu are endangering the lives f everyne else. Vilatins f this kind may lead t remval frm husing. Fire Equipment Every rm/suite/apartment has a smke detectr and every flr is equipped with a pull statin. Tampering with any f this equipment endangers all residents. D nt cver the smke detectr, hang things frm it, r in any way hinder the unit frm wrking. Penalties fr tampering with r fr pulling a false alarm may include remval frm husing and/r criminal charges. This includes failure t evacuate the building during an alarm. Jacksn Curt Fireplace/Grunds The Jacksn Curt Fireplace and Grunds are an exciting new additin t ur area. Please keep this area nice. It may nly be used n Tuesday, Friday and Saturday nights between 6pm-11:30pm. Students/Grups may reserve this space thrugh Wilsn Cmmns reservatins and must cmplete a fire pit training in rder t utilize the fireplace. Cntact the Jacksn Curt Area ffice t sign up fr training. Burning bks, furniture, paper, r nn-sanctined cmbustibles is PROHIBITED. D nt deface r therwise vandalize this space. Be safe and curteus when using it. Pets (Fish Only) N air-breathing pets allwed. The nly pets allwed will be fish in a small aquarium (n larger than a 5 galln tank). Dgs, cats, rabbits, ferrets, insects, spiders, and snakes are strictly prhibited in student husing. Cnsequences fr breaking this plicy culd include remval frm husing. Smking All UR undergraduate husing is smke-free. Yu may NOT smke in yur rm, suite, r bathrm. The campus has changed t tbacc-free. If yu chse t smke tbacc it must be in a designated spt n campus, r ff campus prperty. Vandalism Replacement/repair csts fr damage in cmmunity building areas (hallways, stairwells, fyers, etc.) may be divided amng the residents f the building if the respnsible parties cannt be identified. This billing includes remval f trash left after check-ut, including cinderblcks. Cinderblcks are prhibited frm the residence halls. Vandalism is preventable. Curtesy Phnes Phnes have been installed in several lcatins. Respect them and use them t make lcal calls. Stlen/damage phnes will be charge t the residents f the building.

6 6 Visitatin With the advanced permissin f the rmmate/suitemates residents are allwed t have vernight guest up t 3 cnsecutive nights and NO mre than 4 nights in a calendar mnth.
