1 PÁTIO Hrse & Ldge: Wrk & Travel 2017/18 Wrking n a Trail-Hrse Farm n Azrean Faial Island N previus riding experience required Enjy riding n an Atlantic Island in an evergreen nature Ideal lcated fr free time activities and travel n the Azres (Trail with PÁTIO Hrse & Ldge) With mre then 20 Lusitan and Cruzad Prtuguese hrses, PÁTIO is ne f the larger hrse farms n the Azrean Archipelag. We are wrking n a high level f sustainability. Wrk & Travel Participants help with all hrse farm related tpics and supprt the staff. They are a vital wrkfrce n the farm and as a cnsequence f their supprt the farm is able t ffer great trails with well-trained Trail-Hrses. Lcatin: Faial Island, Azres, Prtugal Start dates: flexible, any date thrughut the year Duratin: 4-12 weeks Age requirement: 18+

Regular riding is part f the prgram accrding t the capability f rider and ability f hrses.

2 Wrk & Travel Participant rle: What will I be ding? Wrk & Travel Participants help t care fr and give attentin t ur hrses and are invlved in all hrse farm related wrks. Yu will wrk clsely with the hrses every day and might be invlved in: Fd preparatin and feeding hrses Wrk n the hrse training Riding n trails (accrding t skills and reservatins) Assisting with preparatins fr trails Wrking at the Hrse Ldge, in the garden and n the meadws Grming f hrses and maintenance f the equipment Wrking with individually allcated hrses (Wrk n PÁTIO Hrse & Ldge) Yu d nt need t be an experienced rider, but having the basics f walk, trt and canter are a bnus. We accmmdate all levels f riding experience and will tailr yur activities accrdingly. Regular riding is part f the prgram accrding t the capability f rider and ability f hrses. Wrk & Travel Participants wh are staying fr at least 4 weeks and wh have sufficient experience will als be given the pprtunity t guide small trails. Wrk & Travel Participants supprt als in husehld and garden wrk n the farm. Als additinal farm animals like ur dgs and cats have t be lked fr.

Ask fr special arrangements. Where will I be living? Wrk & Travel Participants live in typical Azrean huses clse t the PÁTIO Ldge lcated at the Nrth Cast f Faial. Yu will be living apprx. 2 km frm the sea swimming site and very clse t the village that ffers mst facilities. (In and utside f the PÁTIO Hrse & Ldge)

4 Participants will find in their living huse a small kitchen, living rm and a bedrm. They may be expected t share a bedrm and bathrm. Washing machine and free WLAN yu find at the farm. There is als a barbecue area. There are many activities available in yur free time; riding with ur hrses, visiting the island and its great sightseeing s, climb n the highest muntain f Prtugal r descent int the caldeira, whale watching r swimming with dlphins. Enjy the day and nightlife in the nice harbur twn Hrta. Yu can make the mst f yur lcatin and learn t dive, learn t talk Prtuguese, take a swim in the cean, sunbath r nly relax with a great view t the Atlantic Ocean. What clthing d I need? Take slid bts and wrk clthes with yu. Rain prtectin clthes r rubber bts are utile. Participants must bring their wn riding clthes and riding hat. What s abut Health Insurance? Wrk & Travel Participants have t prvide their wn valid health insurance. Hw t get t Faial? PÁTIO is lcated n the Mid-Atlantic Island f Faial. The island airprt is Hrta. Azres Airlines is flying mst f the weekdays directly frm Lisbn t Hrta. A PÁTIO staff member will be at the airprt t meet yu and transfer yu t the farm. Additinal activities n Faial (fr the participants wn expense): During the prgram, participants will be given the pprtunity t see places f interest in the area. We will assist with arrangements, hwever, additinal activities will be fr the participants wn expense.
