1 Camp BUCKO 2018 Vlunteer Applicatin Thank yu fr yur interest in vlunteering at Camp BUCKO. We hpe yu will be able t jin us as we celebrate ur 23rd year!!! Camp week cmmences Sunday August 12, 2018 and ends n Saturday August 18, Orientatin is mandatry fr all vlunteers and will be held n June 9 and 10, Please nte: Are yu 21 years f age r lder? If nt, please d nt cmplete this applicatin. All applicants must be a minimum f 21 years f age and immediate family members f ur campers are unable t apply t ur vlunteer prgram. Applicants wh attended Camp BUCKO 2016 r Camp BUCKO 2017 are t cmplete a Returning Vlunteer Applicatin. All ther applicants are t apply as a New Vlunteer. We are appreciative f ur vlunteers and the time they give. It is imprtant fr yu t understand the Camp BUCKO philsphy and appreciate the envirnment that we are striving t create. Since 1995, Camp BUCKO has prvided a camp week fr children wh have varius kinds f burn injuries. We are a registered charity with a strng vlunteer base and we accept a diverse grup f vlunteers based n the number f children attending camp each year. Camp BUCKO is a unique experience that blends fun, scial and recreatinal activities with pprtunities fr campers t talk abut their burn experience. Camp BUCKO Missin Statement Camp BUCKO is a fun, safe, and caring camp prgram free t kids ages 7 t 17 with burn injuries. Our residential setting encurages campers t participate in a variety f scial, recreatinal and therapeutic activities that prmte self-esteem, the develpment f leadership skills and persnal grwth. At Camp BUCKO, kids have a place where they can be themselves withut feeling different r alne. Camp Aims and Gals t have a fun filled utdr adventure t create a sense f cmmunity by prviding a place where campers can learn abut themselves and thers with similar experiences t intrduce campers t dynamic rle mdels by including adult burn survivrs as Camp BUCKO vlunteers t prmte each child s unique abilities and strengths as steps in enhancing selfacceptance t prmte pprtunities fr campers t learn abut wrking in grups as well as in ne-n-ne interactins amng peers f the same and ppsite sex.

2 Expectatins f Vlunteers Vlunteers are the key t a successful Camp BUCKO prgram. Applicatin Prcess Anyne interested in vlunteering at Camp BUCKO will be required t: Cmplete an applicatin frm Prvide Camp BUCKO with 2 references (new applicants nly) Please nte, a current Bard Member may nt act as a Referee. Submit a recent passprt pht (Please refer t pht instructins) Obtain a 2018 Vulnerable Sectr Screening Plice Check. Selectin Prcess All candidates must have a current and clean Vulnerable Sectr Screening Plice Check. Tw psitive reference checks must be received fr all new applicants. New candidates will be interviewed by phne r in persn by a Vlunteer Crdinatr(s) The Vlunteer C-rdinatr(s) will then select camp vlunteers based n the needs f the camper registratins. Vlunteers will be asked t sign a cntract with Camp BUCKO. In the best interest f Camp BUCKO and the safety f ur campers, if fr any reasn the infrmatin yu prvide us changes r has been falsified, yur applicatin will be subject t yur dismissal Training Vlunteers are required t attend a mandatry rientatin prgram n June 9 and 10, Further details will be prvided by Camp BUCKO. At Camp Vlunteers will have a clearly defined rle at camp and will be expected t cmmit t that rle fr the entire camp week. Vlunteers can expect t bunk in with their assigned cabin grup, lead and participate in all activities with their cabin grup. The Vlunteer Crdinatr(s) are available at camp t discuss any issues that may cme up such as discipline, cncerns abut a camper r persnal cncerns. Debriefing sessins will be held each evening t review the day and t penly discuss the experience f wrking with children with burn injuries. Vlunteers are t respect and fllw the rules f Camp BUCKO and Cedar Ridge Camp. Evaluatins After camp, the vlunteers are expected t cmplete the camp evaluatin.
