Sixty-tw airlines serve YVR, cnnecting peple and businesses t 99 destinatins in Canada, the U.S. and arund the wrld. The demand fr air travel in China is grwing by 7% annually, ne f the fastest grwing markets in the wrld. At this rate demand will duble in 10 years. A new, daily, internatinal flight at YVR: Generates between 150 and 200 jbs at the airprt servicing the plane, its passengers and carg; Brings mre visitrs t B.C., supprting apprximately 400 additinal jbs fr tur cmpanies, htels, restaurants and attractins. Fr example, prir t Air New Zealand s nn-stp service t Vancuver frm Auckland in 2007, abut 20,000 New Zealanders visited B.C. every year. That increased t apprximately 35,000 annually with the advent f nn-stp service; Generates abut $12.3 millin in incremental tax revenue fr the federal and B.C. gvernments. British Clumbia is already well cnnected t the wrld thrugh YVR, which makes apprximately 47% f the wrld s ecnmy accessible thrugh daily, nn-stp scheduled service. This cmpares with 35% frm Seattle-Tacma Internatinal Airprt and 22% frm Calgary Internatinal Airprt. The additinal flights we expect t attract t YVR by 2020 will add a further estimated $200 millin t B.C. s ecnmy thrugh increased prductivity f lcal businesses. The Airprt Authrity will upgrade terminals, imprve baggage systems and enhance safety and security. 3 High-Speed Baggage System A new high-speed baggage system will ensure passenger luggage can transit frm ne end f the terminal t the ther in half the time it takes tday. Majr Cnstructin Prjects Internatinal Terminal Building The newly cnstructed Internatinal Terminal building with 16 aircraft gates featured a bright, pen-plan design with glass walls, verhead walkways and the distinct land, sea, sky architectural theme. Nrth Runway A new 3,030-metre parallel runway with Canada s first Categry III instrument landing system went int peratin in This prvided YVR with three runways. Internatinal Terminal Building US Gates Due t grwth in passenger traffic, imprved passenger facilities and a seven-gate expansin f the Internatinal Terminal was needed. 2

4 Dmestic Terminal Building Upgrades An pen flr plan, natural lighting, state f the art baggage srtatin system, flight infrmatin displays and self-serve check-in kisks were all part f the Dmestic Terminal upgrades. Freign Object Debris Radar The Airprt Authrity is cnstantly upgrading safety n the airfield. Tw majr recent prjects were the runway lighting upgrade and the installatin f a freign bject debris (FOD) radar detectin system; a day and night camera was added t the system in Internatinal Terminal Building Expansin The Internatinal Terminal expansin added fur new aircraft gates, a water-themed retail, fd and beverage area, dual lading bridges and expanded passenger seating. Dmestic Terminal Upgrades Upgrades t the Dmestic Terminal building included an expanded retail area with new dining and shpping ptins and a Public Observatin Area. 3

5 Link Building The Link Building cnnected the Dmestic and Internatinal Terminals, and prvided check-in capacity t supprt the Internatinal Terminal expansin, and a new baggage transfer facility fr internatinal t dmestic cnnecting baggage. Dmestic Terminal Upgrades The Dmestic Terminal s Pier C received a five-gate expansin and a new retail and fd and beverage area. Canada Line The Airprt Authrity funded cnstructin f the Sea Island prtin f the Canada Line rapid transit prject and designed and built the three n-island statins.
