This milestne furthers the City's lng-term plan t clse Rute 34, recnnect city streets and neighbrhds thrugh new develpment between Dwntwn and the Hill. The City is adjusting traffic patterns in rder t enable develpment f the 425,000 s.f. medical/lab ffice building and future hme f Alexin Pharmaceuticals. A grundbreaking ceremny was held fr the new develpment n June 17, The Dwntwn Crssing prject is funded by the United States Department f Transprtatin, the City f New Haven and the State f Cnnecticut. Phase 1 cnstructin is being perfrmed by CJ Fucci Cnstructin Inc, f New Haven, CT and is scheduled t be cmpleted in Fall This wrk will prvide infrastructure imprvements necessary t prceed n the 100 Cllege Street develpment, which is expected t create up t 2,000 cnstructin jbs and, when cmpleted and pen in 2015, an estimated 900 permanent jbs.
