3 Intrductin This manual is fr Air Traffic Cntrllers briefing, regarding all special prcedures that they need t be familiar with regarding their respective Cntrlled Airspace f Heraklin t achieve a mre realistic and smth traffic flw during Real Flights Event Heraklin. This Event will take place at 27 f January 2019 frm 12.00z t 15.00z at LGIR (HER Niks Kazantzakis). The event will cnsist f civil aviatin, general aviatin and military flights. General Rules: Discrd Briefing will take place n Thursday 24th f January at 18.00z with estimated duratin ranging frm 30 t 45 In case yu are nt able t attend this briefing please let us knw by t gr-ac@iva.aer and carbn cpy t gr-eac@iva.aer nt later than 30 minutes prir t the scheduled briefing (17.30z) Nt ntifying us f yur absence will result t an ATC psitin re-distributin Event Day, Sunday 27th f January, we expect yur arrival at IVAO Greek Discrd nt later than 30 minutes prir t yur scheduled cnnectin time accrding t the daily cntrllers schedule We wn t ask f yu t d smething that yu shuldn t be able t d already, if yu are having secnd thughts let smene f the Greek administratin team knw Have yur charts at the ready at all times n whichever frmatting fits yur needs and all yur ATC assisting sftware updated Expect the ATC file regarding all flights and parking psitins at Friday 25 th f January Due t the fact this is a Real Flights Event there will be use f NOTAM s which yu will be able t find at the end f this dcument r via their respective links During the entire Event we will be able t cmmunicate and rganize via the AOD channel lcated at Discrd. T simply chat with anther member please use a different Channel r via text! Try t remain well hydrated and keep yur bellies full thught the entire time yu remain cnnected T sum up, the unexpected happens always, by this manual and briefing we try t annihilate any chances there are f this being caused by us, as Air Traffic Cntrllers. 4 Departures Every departure slt can be fund within the bking system. Fr specific Cntrller needs there will be a separate excel dcument released at Friday s briefing. Our Primary target is t have pushback r engine startup +- 5 minutes frm the scheduled departure time f each flight. Pay ATTENTION the times are Zulu frmat!! Cnnectin f aircraft can be even 15 minutes earlier than the departure time at their predesignated parking psitin accrding t the bking system. Even thugh clearance cannt be issued earlier than 10 minutes prir t scheduled departure time. Early Flight: If an Aircraft is scheduled t depart at 13.00z and the pilt is requesting clearance at 12.45, ATC can give the clearance. Delayed Flight: If an Aircraft is scheduled t depart at 13.00z and the time currently is 13.05z but the pilt has nt yet requested t start up, his flight is flagged as a delayed ne. Pilt shuld be then ntified f this and assign him a new departure time Issuing a new departure time: T d this yu will have t check yur excel file and find ut when there is a +- 3 minute gap. Try t give pririty t the n-time flights If an aircraft is cnnected withut his flight being fund within the system yu will have t d the prcedure described abve and let the pilt knw f his departure time In case there is a traffic in the taxiways frm arriving r departing aircraft ntify the ther cntrllers t make space t take-ff the aircrafts n the hlding pint. Als, the grund cntrller must ntify the aircraft which request a start-up, the time that will btain the startup clearance ATC: Greek Divisin 001, yur readback is crrect; expect start up at 25 f this hur (r next hur) Arrivals After pilts park their aircraft, they must discnnect 10 minutes after the landing withut prir ntice. If applicable ntify the pilt plitely if they are cnnected and vanished the parking psitin. 3

5 Cntrlling at Niks Kazantzakis The internatinal Airprt f Heraklein N. Kazantzakis is the main airprt in the island f Crete and the secnd mre visited airprt in Greece after the Intl. Airprt f Athens. It is lcated 5km east frm the twn center f Heraklein. This is a cmbined airprt, meaning that is used bth as civilian and military and it tk its name frm the Greek writer and philspher Nik Kazantzaki. The airprt cvers an area f hectares and features a terminal f m² and a departure lunge f m². 6 Cmmunicatins Navigatin Aids Hlding Depending n the traffic, there is a chance the cntrller t ask yu t enter t a hlding. Bellw yu can find the infrmatin abut the published hldings in the Terminal Area f Heraklein. 5

7 Prcedures During the entire time f this Event standard prcedures will be fllwed frm arriving and departing traffic t the Aerdrme. Make use f Vectr nly t increase smth ut traffic flw r t priritize a flight. Dn t make it a habit f vectring all flights withut any apparent reasn. In case f a missed apprach ask the pilt t cntinue n the published missed apprach while evaluating the need t jin the hlding r nt. At Heraklin Airprt there is n need t push back unless traffic is lcated in parking T ranging frm T1 t T7. Prcedure in that case is, pilt requests engine startup and nly after it has been cmpleted he may request pushback. (see mark S1 belw) Taxiway C is unserviceable fr wide bdy aircraft. (see mark S2 belw) 6

8 Use f Runway The chice f the standard prcedures was made by the fact that EPALO 1B, NAVUS 1B, XAVIS 1A, LABUX 1B, SIT2B utilize the GONSO hlding. Standard prcedures EPALO 1B, NAVUS 1B use a 19 DME ARC frm IRA VOR The standard departure prcedures were chsen by the fact that EPALO 1C, NAVUS 1C d nt crss 19 DME frm IRA VOR and if nt dne s EPALO and NAVUS may becme verladed.
