Definitins: UAS: A UAS is an unanned aircraft and the equipent necessary fr the safe and efficient peratin f that aircraft. Per Public Law , Sectin 331(8), a UAS is defined as an aircraft that is perated withut the pssibility f direct huan interventin fr within r n the aircraft. Mdel Aircraft: A del aircraft is a UAS that is capable f sustained flight in the atsphere, is flwn within visual line-f-sight f the persn perating it, and is flwn fr hbby r recreatinal purpses. Recreatinal r Hbbyist Use: Flying a UAS fr recreatinal r hbbyist use eans d s fr enjyent and nt fr wrk, business purpses, r fr cpensatin r hire. Exaples f such use include the purchase by a departent using cllege funds and perated by eplyees fr class instructin and denstratin r Athletics filing teas n the playing field fr instructinal purpses. Cercial use (nn-hbbyist/recreatinal use): Operating a UAS fr cercial use eans ding s fr wrk r business, r nn-recreatinal reasns. Exaples f such use include the cllege perating a UAV t survey rf/building cnditins, the Athletic Departent using ftage f the playing field t recruit prspective players, r the cllege cntracting with an utside vendr t create prtinal vides and advertiseents. Required Prcedures and Apprvals: Purchase f an UAS with Cllege Funds: Any eber f the Cllege cunity, including faculty, staff and students, ust, prir t purchase f a UAS with cllege funds, subit a written request fr apprval fr the Vice President fr Acadeic Affairs (fr faculty), the Vice President fr Student Affairs (fr students) r the Vice President fr Finance and Adinistratin (fr staff and ther nn-faculty eplyees), r their respective designees. Use f an UAS n Cllege Prperty: Prir Perissin t Operate an UAS: All ebers f the Cllege cunity, including faculty, staff and students, as well as visitrs t, ust, prir t peratin f an UAS fr any purpse, (1) btain written perissin fr the Vice President fr Finance and Adinistratin r General Cunsel and {2) prvide written ntificatin t Capus Safety. Cplete and subit the "UAS Applicatin fr Institutinal Use" {Appendix A) t the VP fr Finance and Adinistratin. Designated Areas fr Operatin f an UAS: Operatin f an UAS beynd the apprved designated areas is strictly prhibited. The UAS apprved designated areas are specified in the attached ap {Appendix B) and include the Practice Field Suth {#17), Wilkes field {#24), and the Practice Field Nrth {#23). These three designated areas are fr general use at any tie ther than during cllege scheduled events with apprved perissin as utlined abve. Use f drnes n ther Athletic fields by specific sprt teas ay be peritted. Cercial Operatin f an UAS: Prir t any cercial use f an UAS n the Cllege's capus, the eber f the Cllege cunity prpsing such cercial use ust, in additin t the requireents set frth elsewhere in this Plicy, establish and dcuent the fllwing: (1) the peratr f the UAS ust be fully registered with and licensed by the FAA; (2) the peratr f the UAS ust prvide a cpy f the UAS certificatin f registratin f the UAS and peratr's license (if applicable); and {3) the peratr f the UAS eet the Cllege's insurance requireents. Guidelines fr Operatin f an UAS: FAA regulatins require UAS peratrs t: Fly belw 400 feet and reain clear f surrunding bstacles Keep the aircraft within visual line f sight at all ties Reain well clear f and d nt interfere with anned aircraft peratins Nt fly within 5 iles f an airprt unless yu cntact the airprt and cntrl twer befre flying. Nte that Perkien Valley airprt is an uncntrlled airprt and des nt require ntificatin. Nt fly near peple r stadius 2
