2 INVITATION The 2018 Joint ISES-ISEE Meeting will bring together international scientific experts and practitioners from academia, government, industry, and non-governmental organizations dedicated to the protection of health and environment. Exposure science and environmental epidemiology are dynamic fields that: Develop and apply traditional and innovative methods for assessing exposures to environmental stressors and their health effects. Address exposures to a broad array of environmental stressors as well as factors that contribute to or mitigate exposure. Elucidate potential health effects from environmental stressors during the life cycle including outcomes from in utero development to death. Promote interdisciplinary approaches to solving complex environmental public health problems. The Joint ISES-ISEE 2018 meeting theme is Addressing Complex Local and Global Issues in Environmental Exposure and Health. The capital city of Canada, Ottawa is home to a diverse and active community of scientists and policy makers engaged in local and global environmental exposure and health research. The ISES-ISEE 2018 Meeting will be inclusive to delegates from around the world, and will leverage this expertise to address complex local and global topics relevant to exposure science and environmental epidemiology. 5 location and venue City of Ottawa As the capital city of Canada, Ottawa acts as a hub for government exposure science and health research led by agencies such as Health Canada and Environment and Climate Change Canada. Ottawa is also home to an abundance of local universities who are leaders in environmental exposure and health research. Located on the boundary between Ontario and Quebec, Ottawa is shaped by anglophone and francophone influences, as well as growing immigrant communities, epitomizing cultural diversity. The city is easily accessible by plane, and nearly equidistant between Toronto (a 4.5 hour drive to the west) and Montreal (a 2 hour drive to the east), making Ottawa a convenient meeting place for local and international attendees. Ottawa is also an easy 1 hour drive from the U.S. border to the south. As the capital city, Ottawa is home to a rich array of monuments, museums, and landmarks, and cultural activities. Ottawa is home to the Rideau Canal, the only UNESCO World Heritage Site in Ontario, located across the street from the conference centre, and scenic cruises on the canal are particularly lovely in fall. Parliament Hill and the nearby Major s Hill Park boast amazing views of government buildings, monuments, and the canal locks. Other nearby attractions include the outdoor markets and breweries in the Byward Market, the many restaurants and pubs on Elgin Street, both within walking distance of the conference venue. Further afield, Nordic baths at Le Nordic Spa, and hiking trails in Gatineau Park are both a 20 minute drive from downtown Ottawa. Venue The 2018 meeting will be held in the Shaw Centre, located in the heart of downtown Ottawa, in walking distance of 6,000 hotel rooms. The centre is also within easy walking distance of most of the major landmarks and tourist attractions in Ottawa including the Rideau Canal, Parliament Hill, the Byward Market, and many parks, shopping centres and museums. The centre is connected via walkway to The Westin Hotel and the Rideau Shopping Centre, which has over 180 shops and a food court. Ottawa is also home to a variety of museums, including the stand out War Museum, National Galleries, and Canadian Museum of History. The National Arts Centre, across the canal from the conference venue, hosts theater, dance, and musical performances. 8 booking and policies Terms of payment 60% upon receipt of agreement and first invoice. 40% by February 2018 (6 months before the conference) All payments must be received before the start of ISES-ISEE Should the Supporter fail to complete payments prior the commencement of ISES-ISEE 2018, the Organizer will be entitled to cancel the reservation while cancellation will be subject to cancellation fees as determined below. Reservations made less than 6 months before the Meeting will be subject to 100% payment upon reservations. Payment methods After receipt of the sponsorship you will receive an invoice, payable within 30 days after receipt. If the invoice has not been fully paid before the conference, you will not have access to the meeting. Cancellation/Modification Policy Cancellation/modification of items must be made via to isesisee@congressbydesign.com. In case of cancellation of the sponsorship agreement by the sponsor a cancellation fee of 25% of the agreed sponsorship contribution applies if the cancellation is received before or on April 1, After April 1, 2018 a cancellation fee of 100% of the agreed contribution applies AUGUST Sponsorship and Exhibition Prospectus 8
