Meeting Reprt This week s meeting was a rather special and extended affair, featuring the annual District Gvernr s visit, accmpanied by his wife and als Assistant DG Dn Will.

It was gd t see her ut and abut. Past President Damian gave us a brief Rtary Infrmatin presentatin regarding the status f the Pli Eradicatin prgramme.

The majr prblems affecting the prgramme are the very dangerus perating cnditins in Pakistan and Afghanistan where smething like 80 peple invlved in the prgramme have lst their lives since 2012.

It was a partner s night and we had arund 85 members, partner s and guests in attendance. Perhaps the mst ntable guests (apart frm DG Sam) were Kevin Parken s wife Wendy and her carers. It was gd t see her ut and abut. Past President Damian gave us a brief Rtary Infrmatin presentatin regarding the status f the Pli Eradicatin prgramme. In summary, numbers f reprted cases this year are well dwn n 2015 (27 cmpared t 51 same time last year). The enrmus financial supprt and cmmitment f the Bill and Melinda Gates Fundatin was acknwledged. We had a remarkable Sergeant s sessin. He arrived very casually dressed, having spent the day and previus evening lking after grandchildren and striking every bstacle imaginable in the curse f delivering them hme t Henley Beach and then getting back t the meeting. It was reminiscent f the 5P rule f my business days. Hwever, there was certainly a well planned extractin f hefty fines frm all members and visitrs, $103 in ttal. His new dnger r persuader may have assisted in this task!. Sergeant s Persuader CROE Spnsrs, Organisers and Supprters with RFDS Rep << Mal n Val with Charlie Patersn & Cheques Mal and Val Hansen tk the pprtunity t summarise the recently cmpleted CROE trip in which there were 31 participants. Fllwing an utline f the day by day activities, Charlie Patersn (GM Marketing & PR fr RFDS) made a brief presentatin abut the Flying Dctr s presence and peratins in this state, with a fcus n the newly pened peratins base at Adelaide Airprt and their new Pilatus PC24 jet that cst arund $10 millin. In cnclusin, cheques ttalling $30,000 were presented t Charlie t be used t assist funding f the new jet aircraft that is cnsidered a gamechanger in terms f the peratinal capabilities. District Gvernr Sam Campreale was intrduced by President Bryan and gave us an infrmative and

3 entertaining utline f his year t date and sme f the key bservatins he has made. It was interesting that he has visited 34 clubs in the district t date and a significant cncern was that sme clubs seem t have lst sight f the fact that Rtary is primarily a service rganizatin. Assistant Gvernr Dn Will, President Bryan and DG Sam with his Wife Apart frm utlining the many rganisatins within Rtary, Sam spent cnsiderable time emphasizing the significance f the Rtary Fundatin, which celebrates it s 100 th anniversary next year. In fact, Atlanta was chsen as the lcatin f the 2017 wrld cnventin in recgnitin f it being the birthplace f the Rtary Fundatin. It is expected that there will be arund 25 district members attending the cnventin next year. Club Annuncements Next week s meeting will be the club Melburne Cup event. Again, partners are invited and very welcme, but please ensure that yu advise attendance details t the Attendance fficer (in this case Lee Aldenhven phne in David Munr s absence,). As usual, this shuld be a fun night! Members are invited t dress up r dress dwn as suits their individual preferences. Please cnfirm attendance numbers t Lee Aldenhven by Sunday 30 th LATEST. Bill Allen advised that last Saturday s Garage Sale event netted $1,100. We have als achieved $600 in presales during the mnth and $900 frm auctin items, s with the nrmal sale scheduled fr this cming Saturday, Octber shuld be a quite gd turnver mnth. As usual, all available assistance will be appreciated at the cming sale. Jeff Blanc had a wide range f club clthing available fr cllectin r purchase. Prices are: RCC Jackets - $55 each. Frank Augell advised details f the club fellwship evening at the Garden Island yacht club n Friday 4 th Nvember. Time 5:30 fr 5:45pm, cst $25pp. A bus is being rganized fr thse interested, departing frm the Campbelltwn Functin Centre, cst $12-15pp depending n numbers. Final details t be advised next week. 4 Elizabeth Gagliardi updated members n the 2017 District Cnference arrangements and cntinues t urge members t cnsider attending. Mal and Val Hansen and their team have decided t run anther CROE next year, scheduled start date Friday Octber 13 th. Expressins f interest were invited. Fr infrmatin f members, we had an instance last week f a persn dumping a substantial pile f rubbish at the shed gates n a Saturday afternn. As the incident was recrded n vide and the persn(s) invlved clearly identifiable, the Campbelltwn Cuncil is prsecuting n ur behalf. Cuncil supprt is much appreciated, alng with Jeff Blanc and thers wh have helped prvide the necessary equipment t catch ffenders. I m sure a pay review will be cnsidered in due curse!!
