5 Description History Maisemore Park was believed to have been constructed originally for Captain Richard Harward RN around 1810 and is Grade II listed due to its historical importance and architectural style. Much of the Estate s excellent reputation stems from one of its early inhabitants, Mr J. J. Cridlan in circa Mr Cridlan became world renowned for his excellent judgement and knowledge of breeding cattle in particular the Aberdeen Angus and where he started his world famous Maisemore herd. He featured in many magazines and publications in the very early 20th Century. Situation Maisemore Park is situated on the cusp of the small village of Maisemore, which his located about 2.5 miles north of the Cathedral City of Gloucester with a range of facilities and the popular school Kings of Gloucester. The village itself has a pub, church and village hall. Approximately 9 miles east of Maisemore Park is the Regency town of Cheltenham renowned for its fine architecture, national hunt racing, quality shopping and excellent schools. Kennel Little Cheltenham Maisemore Park is known for both its architectural charm as well as its longstanding links to Point-to-Point racing. It hosts the Ledbury Point-to-Point (now known as The Gloucester Races and Country Fair) and is highly regarded by the many thousands who attend year on year. The flat course is an oval lap of the fields and is extremely popular with both owners and trainers and uniquely features pre-parade paddock and winner s enclosure. The Point-to-Point is run and managed by the Ledbury Hunt who pay a small annual fee for use of the land. 8
