4 Situation Caberfeidh is set in a peaceful countryside location about 11/2 miles south of the popular village of Auldearn. The country lane rises slowly as it heads inland into the gentle hills beyond and Caberfeidh lies just before the crest with magnificent views back over the Moray Firth. This is prime commuter country. Inverness is only 19 miles away on the ever improving A96 and has a full range of shops and services. The International Airport is only 9 miles away with regular flights to most other UK airports. There is also a train station in Nairn (3 miles) providing commuter links to Inverness and Aberdeen from where there are regular connections to London and the south. Nairn is the nearest town. It is a vibrant Victorian town of 11,000 people and is a popular holiday destination enjoying a prime location on the Moray Firth. The climate is surprisingly dry and sunny which makes the miles of sandy beaches even more of a pleasure. The harbour is home to a small fishing fleet, marina and sailing club. It has excellent restaurants, museums, galleries and antique shops as well as sports centre, swimming pool, riding centre and even a cricket pitch. But Nairn is most famous as a centre of golfing excellence with two 18 hole championship courses in the Nairn Golf Club and Nairn Dunbar Golf Club which between them have hosted the Walker Cup, both the Scottish Ladies and Men s Professional and Amateur Championships and the Northern Open. This reputation has been further advanced by the recent completion (2008) of the Castle Stuart Golf Links which in 2011 will host the Scottish Open Golf Championship. Everything you will need locally is available in Auldearn from a pint of milk to a pint of beer. Caberfeidh This distinctive house was completed in 1999 to the design of a local architect, Martin Archibald, and constructed by Elgin Builders. It is built to the very highest standards and has made the most of its outstanding location. The house is set at the south end of the lovely gardens making the most of the spectacular views and ensuring it is set well back from the road. It is approached through electric gates over a gently winding drive to the garage at the rear of the house. Accommodation The house is laid out to take full advantage of light and space. It has a welcoming vestibule and hexagonal inner hall with voluminous and impressive main reception hall. One of the interesting aspects of the house is varying floor levels to define the space and steps up to the drawing room really give it a grand feeling as the most important room in the house. Drive up the hill, past the War Memorial and turn first left sign posted to Moyness. Continue on this pretty country lane for about 2km and the gates to Caberfeidh are on the right hand side.
