8 Location Glandwr Hall is situated within the Snowdonia National Park, on the Mawddach Estuary, with spectacular views over the ever-changing tidal scenery, to the dramatic mountain backdrop and out to Cardigan Bay. The popular seaside and yachting resort of Barmouth is nearby and benefits from a range of shops, restaurants, pubs and attractions. The pretty town of Dolgellau, former County Town and now administrative centre of the district, lies about seven miles to the east and has a further range of shops, restaurants, pubs and attractions. The many sporting and recreational facilities which the area has to offer include sailing, walking, mountain biking, bird watching and golf. The area is renowned as a walker s paradise and the nearby Coed y Brenin is the UK s first and largest dedicated mountain bike trail centre. Barmouth and the coastline north also have some of the best sandy beaches in the British Isles and there are two famous golf clubs, Royal St. Davids at Harlech, and Aberdovey, within easy access. A further range of amenities can be found in Porthmadog and Machynlleth, and there are main line trains from Barmouth to Shrewsbury, Birmingham and London.
