1 The Episcpal Dicese f Idah 2016 HORSE CAMP Yuth Hrse Camp (June 19-25: 6 nights), Teen Hrse Camp (July 31-August 5: 5 nights) ARRIVAL & DEPARTURE Hrse Camp (bth Yuth & Teen) begins and ends the week at Paradise Pint, with campers spending three days f their week at Seven Devils Ldge & Guest Ranch. This gives campers the pprtunity t enjy ur typical camp prgramming, as well as learn all abut hrses! When drpping yur camper ff at camp, please plan t arrive at Paradise Pint n earlier than 3:00 PM n the first day f camp. Yu will be greeted by a staff member wh will direct yu t parking. Check-In at camp is lcated at the Fte Recreatin Hall. At any transprtatin drp-ff lcatin, yu are able t: Drp ff the required frms: Health Packet (Health Frm, Activities Permissin & Medical Authrizatin Frm) Make a depsit int yur accunt fr Brwn Bear (the camp stre) Take care f any accunt balances due Drp ff any medicatins fr yur child with instructins. At camp yu will be able t talk with the n-site health care prvider. All prescriptin drugs must be in riginal labeled cntainers; send nly the exact amunt needed during the stay at camp. If drpping yur camper ff at camp yu are able t receive yur child's cabin assignment and meet their cunselr fr the week. If yur child has any electrnics, (cell phnes, ipds, game systems etc.) please take them with yu as they are nt allwed n camp. Any electrnics nt taken by parents will be labeled and stred fr the week. Paradise Pint is nt respnsible fr lst r damaged electrnic items while stred at camp. When picking yur camper up at camp, please plan t be at camp at 10:00 AM n the last day f camp. N matter which lcatin yu pick up yur camper frm, yu will need t have pht ID with yu in rder t leave with yur child. If yur child will be leaving with smene else, please make sure t list them as an Authrized Pick-up n yur nline accunt. Any persn picking up a camper must shw an ID and be listed as an authrized pick-up. Campers MUST be signed ut with a camp staff member r camp vlunteer befre leaving camp. Prescriptin medicatins must be picked up frm the nurse, wh will be set up in the pick-up area. Any frgtten medicatin will be held until Labr Day and then be discarded. CABIN MATE REQUEST POLICY While at Paradise Pint, Hrse Campers will be in a cabin with ther Hrse Campers (females in ne, males in anther). Since hrse campers are ff camp fr three days f the week they d nt share a cabin with ther Yuth Campers. While at Seven Devils Ldge & Guest Ranch, hrse campers will als be staying with ther hrse campers (females tgether, males tgether).

2 The Episcpal Dicese f Idah HORSE CAMP DETAILS Seven Devils Ldge & Guest Ranch are Licensed, Bnded, and Insured as an Outfitter in the State f Idah. All parents/guardians must initial, sign, and return the Hrseback Riding Waiver frm fr their camper befre arriving at Paradise Pint. All campers are REQUIRED TO WEAR RIDING HELMETS WHILE RIDING, which will be prvided by Paradise Pint. Transprtatin t and frm Seven Devils Ldge & Guest Ranch will be in (1) 15 passenger van that Paradise Pint will rent and a selected Paradise Pint staff will drive. Paradise Pint will verify each driver's license and driving recrd and prvide a driving training specific t these vans. Paradise Pint Staff will be present the entire time at the ranch and will prvide supervisin that meets ACA (American Camping Assciatin) requirements. We get mre lst and fund items when a child des nt knw what their parents packed fr them. D NOT pack medicatins (prescriptins r ver-the-cunter) OR mney fr the Camp Stre in yur luggage. They need t be checked in with Staff n arrival day. Bts with a heel: This is t prevent the ft frm sliding thrugh the stirrup. These can be cwby bts, riding bts, r any sturdy she with a slight heel, such as timberlands. These shes MUST FIT apprpriately. THINGS TO LEAVE AT HOME Any medicatin (except prescriptin which is administered by the nurse), any illegal substances, alchl, cigarettes, lighters, matches, aersl cntainers, weapns, ammunitin, knives, water ballns, any electrnics including; radis, Persnal Gaming Devices, ipds, Cell Phnes. VIOLATION OF ANY OF THESE RULES CAN RESULT IN IMMEDIATE REMOVAL FROM CAMP PROPERTY BY CAMPER PARENTS. DRESS CODE Paradise Pint strives fr a mdest standard f dress. Please help yu camper pack accrdingly. D nt bring clthes that reference drugs r alchl, r have inapprpriate innuends. Make sure shrts, dresses, skirts are an apprpriate length and swimsuits are mdest. CAMPER RULES All campers at Paradise Pint Camp agree t respect camp staff, their fellw campers, wildlife and the camp prperty. Campers agree t fllw camp rules at all times, fr their wn safety, the safety f thers and fr the safekeeping f Paradise Pint. Campers agree t stay in their cabins after lights ut unless their cunselr gives them permissin t leave the cabin. Campers agree t respect ther camper s privacy and nt t take cameras int the bathhuse. Campers will use the buddy system at all times, never ging ff by themselves. Campers and parents understand that any cntact that campers have with their camp cunselr after camp must either be made thrugh their parents r the Camp Directr r Assistant Directr. LOST & FOUND On a daily basis, lst and fund items will be placed n Trust Rck (the rck in the central gathering area) fr campers t claim. 4 The Episcpal Dicese f Idah BALANCE DUES/REFUND/CANCELLATION POLICY Sessin balances are due n r befre the first day f the registered sessin. If there is an utstanding balance, during the check-in prcess f that registered sessin the parent/guardian must either pay in full r set up a payment plan. A $50 cancellatin fee will be charged in additin t the $50 nn-refundable depsit if a registratin is cancelled less than ne week befre the first day f the registered sessin. Due t the challenge f filling spaces, n refunds will be issued n r after the first day f the registered sessin. In cases f hmesickness, dismissal r vluntary withdrawal, n refunds will be issued. All refunds will be prcessed within tw weeks f the last day f the camp sessin. TRANSPORTATION Paradise Pint ffers transprtatin t and frm Pcatell, Twin Falls, Bise, and Hrseshe Bend. All transprtatin will be supervised by Paradise Pint Staff and/r Camp Vlunteers. Arthur Ave. Pcatell, ID CAMPER COMMUNICATION WITH STAFF OUTSIDE OF CAMP Staff members serve as trusted rle mdels fr campers. Because f the strength f the bnds that frm at Camp, we believe that camper/staff cmmunicatin and cnnectins utside f camp have tremendus value. Hwever, it is a Paradise Pint plicy that ur staff members agree t ur Scial Media Use Plicy. Part f this plicy includes nt adding campers as "Friends" n Facebk r adding them t any f their scial media sites. Any utside-f-camp camper/staff cmmunicatin (mail, phne, r face-t-face) must be healthy and apprpriate. PARENT/GUARDIAN COMMUNICATION Phne cntact with parents/guardians is allwed nly when apprved by the Camp Directr. Each persn s accunt cntains cntact infrmatin, as well as designates alternate cntacts if the parents/guardians cannt be reached. The general camp practice is t cntact parents when there is cncern abut a camper s health and well-being r when a situatin (hmesickness) is nt imprving. 5 The Episcpal Dicese f Idah DIETARY NEEDS It is ur desire that all participants be able t experience Paradise Pint withut cncern r anxiety f dietary restrictins. We are able t wrk with a variety f dietary restrictins, including vegetarian, gluten, dairy, egg, and nut allergies. In rder t meet the needs f these participants, it is necessary t btain as much infrmatin as pssible prir t the arrival at camp. On the Camper Health Frm yu are able t list any special dietary needs. Please be as specific as pssible regarding the exact nature and severity f any allergy r intlerance. Please nte that we will make every effrt t accmmdate special requests. Hwever, due t ur pen kitchen that handles the majr allergens (gluten, wheat, dairy, nuts, etc...) we cannt guarantee that items will be cmpletely "free" f any ingredient. While Paradise Pint attempts t prvide meals which meet these special needs as much as pssible, it is the respnsibility f the individual t avid thse fds that they are unable t eat. In sme cases, we allw the participants t bring sme f their wn fd items, which can then be prepared by ur camp kitchen staff. BROWN BEAR STORE POLICY Brwn Bear is the camp stre where campers can purchase snacks and drinks. Campers are allwed t purchase ne snack and ne drink item each afternn and will typically spend $2/day. In additin t snacks, Paradise Pint merchandise is available in Brwn Bear and range in price frm $5-$35 (sweatshirts, water bttles, tumblers, etc.). Balances f less than $15 at the end f each camp sessin will be dnated t the Camper Schlarship Fund. Parents/guardians have the ptin t dnate balances ver $15 t the Camper Schlarship Fund r have balances refunded via the riginal payment methd. Refunds will be prcessed within tw weeks f the last day f the camp sessin. SENDING MAIL & Campers lve t receive mail and care packages when they are away frm hme. Please make sure t send packages early in the week t make sure yur camper receives them while they are at camp. Packages r letters that arrive after yur camper has departed will be returned t sender. Parents may send packages cntaining fd, hwever there is n gum allwed n camp. All fd frm packages is stred in Brwn Bear (Camp Stre) and campers are allwed t get their packages during waterfrnt each day. Many times the camper knws the address, but des nt knw hw t prperly address an envelpe. Cunseling staff des their best t catch the mistakes befre the envelpes get in the mail, hwever the best way t ensure that yu receive a letter frm yur camper is t send them t camp prepared with paper and pre-addressed/stamped envelpes! It may be that mail frm yur camper is nt s cheerful. Remember that campers smetimes write hme during hmesick mments, r that the act f writing triggers hmesickness. In mst instances, by the time yu receive the letter, yur camper is well-adjusted t camp and having a wnderful time. 6 The Episcpal Dicese f Idah HOMESICKNESS Ging away t camp fr a week r mre can be a challenging experience fr many children. Shrt-term separatin frm parents and learning independence are bth imprtant parts f grwing up even thugh it may nt always be easy. Many children have sme difficulty cping with the changes that cme with spending a week away frm hme. This anxiety is perfectly nrmal and happens n ccasin. While yur child is at camp, we d nt allw campers t call hme directly. Often, when a hmesick child speaks t smene frm hme, their hmesickness is nly made wrse. Instead, we encurage letter-writing bth t and frm the family. We spend a lt f time training camp staff n hw t deal with hmesickness, but parents can help prevent hmesickness by ding sme simple things prir t their camper s stay at camp. Avid statements such as, If yu dn t like camp, yu can cme hme. Children wh are experiencing difficulties adjusting t camp will cmpund the prblem by nt giving it a fair chance. Often they will clse their minds t adapting t camp, and fcus immediately n ging hme. Prcess any recent stressful events: Recent deaths f peple clse t campers r parents wh are divrcing can cause extreme stress n a child at camp. Talk t them abut it and ntify the camp t make the staff aware. Keep letters shrt and psitive: Parents shuld avid statements like, I m ging t miss yu terribly. D nt tell them hw much yu wish they were hme r abut the death f their favrite pet. Camp will be a terrific experience, s be careful nt t make them feel badly abut ging away. Talk abut hmesickness: Hmesickness is natural and certain feelings f missing hme, parents, pets, r friends are nrmal. Once this is understd, yur child may accept hmesick feelings with less anxiety.
