Try new things. Make new friends. And be a part f smething great. The Y is giving kids their best summer ever thrugh a day camp experience with mre activities t help them learn, master skills, make friends and feel welcme. Thrugh the Y s day camp prgram, kids participate in fun and educatinal activities that help them: Learn and master skills that help them realize their passins, talents and ptential; Build friendships with new friends and staff rle mdels adding t their well-being; Help them feel like they belng s they feel safe, welcme and free t express their individuality. Children s lives are changed n a daily basis and ur staff is exceptinal! The summer staff is a grup f experienced, talented and dedicated peple wh enjy wrking with children. They understand that every child is unique and will strive t help each child develp at their wn pace. Every staff member cmpletes a tw week-lng staff training and ges thrugh extensive reference and criminal backgrund checks as well as a persnal interview. Our staff are als BLS certified. 3 Registratin Plicies A nn-refundable depsit f $50 per week is required fr all sessins. This depsit is applied t the ttal camp tuitin. If registering with less than 2 weeks t start f sessin, then balance is due in full upn registratin (see balance due deadlines belw). We cntinue accepting registratins until camp is full. Sessins are filled by strict camper t cunselr ratis. Availability is cntingent n gender and age. Specialty camps are available t add n t make the camp experience even mre persnalized. These camps include Equestrian, High Adventure, Swim Lessns, Ceramics, Bwling, and Cking camps. Specialty camps will be available fr sign up at camp check in n a first cme, first serve basis until filled. Fees fr specialty camp ptins must be paid in full at the time f sign up. Balance Due Deadlines (all balances due 14 days befre camp sessin starts): Sessin 1 Due by May 21 st Sessin 2 Due by May 28 th Sessin 3 Due by June 4th Sessin 4 Due by June 11 th Sessin 5 Due by June 18 th Sessin 6 Due by June 25 th Sessin 7 Due by July 2 nd Sessin 8 Due by July 9 th Sessin 9 Due by July 16 th Sessin 10 Due by July 23 th Sessin 11- Due by July 30 th A $30 charge is made fr all returned checks. Funds t cver check and NSF charges will be accepted in cash, cashier check, mney rder, r credit card nly. Sessin transfers will be granted based n availability. Any sessin change must be requested in writing in advance f the sessin start. Admissin as a camper at YMCA Camp Carter carries many privileges and respnsibilities. Campers fund with tbacc, alchl, illegal drugs r weapns will immediately be dismissed withut a refund. In additin, shuld a behavir r discipline prblem affect ur wrk with ther campers r their enjyment f Camp Carter, we reserve the right t dismiss thse camper s respnsible withut a refund. 3

4 A high quality prgram can nly take place in an rderly, mutually respectful, and caring envirnment. Child guidance is a prcess where children take increasing respnsibility fr their wn actins. At the YMCA, we take the happiness and safety f ur participants seriusly. Therefre, we wrk very hard at creating a safe and fun envirnment. Alng with ur effrts, we need the children t help us by fllwing sme simple rules. Belw is ur behavir agreement. Please read ur behavir cntract with yur child and ensure they understand all the behavir plicies. Thank yu fr assisting us t help yur child have a great Overnight Camp experience! I will listen t the staff and fllw directins. I will respect ther peple s belngings by nt tuching/ using their stuff withut permissin. I will respect all prperty and help clean persnal messes and assist in leaving areas better than I fund it. I will respect ther peple s persnal space by keeping my hands and feet t myself. I will respect ther peple s feelings by having a psitive attitude when talking t them. I will act in a caring way, and I will nt hit, fight, bite, tease, harass r bully thers. I will use my indr vice when speaking inside. I will use apprpriate language, which des nt include swear wrds r negative remarks (i.e. shut up, stupid, dumb ). Befre leaving the rm r prgram space, I will ask a staff member fr permissin. I will never leave an area withut adult acknwledgement. Nt abiding by these rules may result in suspensin and/r terminatin frm the prgram. YMCA staff and management reserve the right t dismiss/dis-enrll a child frm the prgram if the child s behavir is disruptive t the prgram and/r cmprmises the safety f themselves, ther children and/r staff. Children suspended/terminated frm the prgram will nt qualify fr a refund. NO REFUNDS will be issued if a camper leaves camp fr any reasn ther than a medical emergency. Medical emergencies apply nly t campers and their immediate family. Prf f medical emergency will be required befre any type f refund will be prcessed. Refunds are made n a pr-rated basis and less the $50 nn-refundable depsit. 4

5 Illness and Exclusin Criteria All immunizatins must be current. Children must be healthy enugh t participate in the prgram s daily rutine. We d nt have the facilities t care fr sick children and therefre d nt allw them t attend the prgram. Fr the safety and cmfrt f yur child, please keep them hme until they feel better and n lnger present the danger f passing n their illness. If yu are keeping yur child hme due t illness, please cntact the camp by 9:30am and let the staff knw f yur child's absence. When yur child has a fever (fever f 101) r vmiting/diarrhea, please make sure they remain at hme 24 hurs after their temperature and symptms returns t nrmal. We may require a physician s release fr any medical r health cnditin. If yur child becmes ill while at camp, yu will be asked t pick up yur child as sn as pssible. Exclusin frm camp may include, but nt limited t the fllwing illness/cmmunicable health prblems: Cnjunctivitis (pink eye) A chrnic runny nse with clred discharge A chrnic cugh A fever Vmiting r upset stmach Signs f general fatigue r discmfrt An pen rash Head lice Knwledge that the child has had a fever within the past 24 hurs Please ntify the YMCA if yur child r any member f yur immediate husehld develps a cmmunicable cnditin (as defined by the lcal health department), such as pink eye, chicken px r lice. Parents are respnsible t ntify the YMCA within 24 hurs r the next business day. In the case f a life-threatening illness, please ntify the YMCA immediately. It is imprtant fr us t pst a ntice t ther parents as sn as pssible. In the case that yur child becmes ill during the prgram, yu will be cntacted as sn as pssible. If the parent r guardian is unable t be reached, the child s emergency cntact will be ntified. It is the respnsibility f the parents t arrange fr the child t be picked up frm camp as sn as pssible. 5

6 Overnight Camp s Cancellatin Plicy There is a $50 nn-refundable depsit due upn registratin. A medical emergency t the camper r immediate family member OR a cntagius illness f a camper (dctr s nte required fr bth) are the exceptins. Summer schl is nt an exceptin. Hwever, we will wrk with yu t change sessins if space is available. Daily Phts Camp has a phtgrapher wh takes daily phts f campers, and uplads them t Facebk. TAP HERE r text CARTER18 t Will I get t see all the camp phts in additin t the nes f my camper? Yes yu will. When yu dwnlad the free Wald app, yu can tggle between My Phts and All Phts. T see all the camp phts, just click n All Phts and scrll t yur heart s desire. Can I easily share all the phts with my family? Great news fr yu. The Wald app allws yu t invite up t 5 family members t yur camper s pht stream. That means they can get the same pht alerts and see all yur camper s phts, t. I m nt signing up fr the pht delivery service but I still want t see the camp phts. Pssible? Yu betcha. While Wald lves t find and send yu phts, he als prvides a free web gallery fr yu t view the phts nline. Yu can view, dwnlad, and share phts frm the web gallery. I signed up fr the service but I m nt getting any matches yet. What s Wald ding? 6

N phts can mean a cuple things: 1) There are n phts f yur camper yet in the album r 2) Yur camper s pht is blurry, dark, r unclear and Wald is having a hard time matching it. campsupprt@waldphts.cm fr quick help r submit anther pht. Yur phts will nly be accessible by yu. (And yu had t enter yur camp album cde and a pin cde verificatin t even access the phts.) It s up t yu whether yu want t share yur phts with the wrld. Can I rder prints? Yep! Yu can rder prints frm the Wald app r the web gallery. We d ur best t get pictures f every child, but sme children avid the camera and sme activities cannt be phtgraphed safely. Cnsent and Health Frms YMCA Camp Carter has gne green with the ability fr parents t fill ut and electrnically sign their campers cnsent and health histry frms nline. The Camp Health Frm can be fund at app.campdc.cm If yu d nt have access t the internet, yu may stp by Camp Carter during regular business hurs and cmplete the frms there. Camp Carter will als have a limited number f tablets at check-in fr frm cmpletin. Please allw 15 minutes t cmplete frms fr each camper. Each child MUST have their wn paperwrk. New frms are required EACH YEAR. Check-In All ther sessins -- Camper check-in is n Sunday afternn frm 2:30-3:30 pm. Registrants will NOT be admitted befre this time. The camp staff is busy getting camp ready fr a week f fun! Please call by 5:00 p.m. n Friday prir t check-in t infrm us if yur child needs t arrive later than the scheduled check-in time. What Happens At Check-In 1. Leave camper s luggage in the car! 2. Parents must fill ut any frms that have nt been received by the ffice prir t camp. 3. Yu will receive yur child s cabin and cunselr assignment. 4. Yu may turn in mney fr yur child s accunt at the camp stre. (see camp stre n page 6) 5. Yu will meet with the camp health care prvider t: a. Make sure all health frms are signed and n file b. Turn in any medicatin (yu will need t have all meds n hand-please keep them separate frm yur child s luggage); we can nly accept medicatin in its riginal 7

8 bttle (including ver-the-cunter meds) with the dctr s current prescriptin printed clearly n the bttle 6. Yur child will receive a head check fr lice. 7. Yur child will receive the 2017 YMCA Camp Carter t-shirt (nly 1 t-shirt per camper per summer as a special gift frm Camp Carter!) Check-Out (NOTE: Tween Camp will check ut during week 1 n Tuesday evening starting at 5:00 pm). All ther sessins -- Camper check-ut is n Friday evening starting at 5:00 pm and will last thrugh 6:00 pm. New last year: Check-ut will happen at their cabin with their cunselr! Any adult (18 years f age and up), including parents, picking up a camper must have their name listed n the camper s Pick-Up Authrizatin List. Any authrized adult that is signing ut a camper will be asked fr a picture ID even parents and the license number will be recrded per state guidelines. Please have yur ID ready, this is fr the prtectin f yur child. If yu need t pick a camper up at an earlier time, please cntact the camp ffice well in advance t make arrangements with the directrs. Early pick-up will be at the camp ffice. DO NOT g t yur child s cabin befre 5:00 pm n Friday. Camp Stre Each day, campers will have the pprtunity t visit the camp stre. The camp stre carries items such as beverages and snacks, t-shirts, hats, water bttles, suvenirs, etc. Items in the stre range in prices frm $1.00 t $ A gd rule f thumb is $4 per day (this will allw yur child t get 1 drink and 1 snack item) plus any additinal fr suvenirs. At check-in parents may depsit mney int a persnal accunt fr their camper. When campers make purchases at the stre, their accunt is debited fr that amunt. Cash is nt accepted frm campers at the camp stre. Campers shuld nt keep mney with them at camp. Refunds will be prcessed at the end f Camp in August. Parents will be given ptins n hw t receive their refund (YMCA Credit, check, refund t credit card) If a camper has less than $5 in their stre accunt at the end f all sessins, the remainder will be dnated t ur annual schlarship campaign. If yu have any questins abut this, r hw these funds are used d nt hesitate t cntact us! Activities Activities at Camp Carter take place during clinic times each mrning and afternn. These clinic times are designed t intrduce campers t new activities, as well as increase their knwledge and skill in familiar activities. Our daily activities are then designed arund the theme f the week t help keep them fun and interesting, t all campers. The best way t take advantage f camp s hrseback riding facilities is t register fr this summer s Ready T Ride (ages 8-16 & under 180 lbs) prgram. Fishing Campers will have the pprtunity t fish at varius times thrughut the camp sessin. Fishing time is supervised by a Camp Carter staff member. Staff is present slely t versee the wellbeing f all campers at this waterfrnt activity. Campers must supply their wn fishing equipment. Meals Cked meals including breakfast, lunch, and dinner are prvided every day at camp s dining hall. This is included in the price f camp. 12 Mail We encurage parents t send s, write letters, and mail care packages t yur camper during his/her sessin. Send a message t camper@ymcafw.rg at any time during yur campers stay. This service is FREE! messages will be delivered at a meal time with all f the ther mail and packages. *Letters: Keep yur child up t date n what is happening at hme, but be careful t keep yur letters psitive! Be creative and send phts, have a pet write a letter, etc. Make sure t send letters a few days befre camp starts, s that they have a better chance f arriving in time fr yur campers stay! Yu can als drp ff letters t the staff at Check-in and we will deliver them n the date yu request. *Care Packages: Nn-Fd care packages are welcme at camp. We d nt allw fd in an effrt t keep cabins clean and bug-free. Camp Carter s wn Warm Fuzzy packages can be purchased in advance r at Check-in and make a great gift fr any camper. Each Warm Fuzzy cntains items that n ther camper can buy, unless they have a Warm Fuzzy t! Make sure t send packages a few days befre camp starts, s that they have a better chance f arriving in time fr yur campers stay! 13 Phne Calls Camp is a time fr children t develp independence and escape frm distractins such as TV, the internet, and phne calls. Guidelines cncerning camper phne use are as fllws: Cell phnes are NOT allwed! If a camper brings a cell phne t camp, it will be taken up and kept in the ffice until the child is picked up at check-ut. Campers will NOT have access t camp phnes except in the event f an emergency. If persistent hmesickness r illness ccurs, camp staff will cntact parent/guardian(s) t discuss the situatin. Our camp ffice is pen Mndays frm 7:00 am t 6:00 pm and Tuesday Friday frm 8:30 am 6:00 pm. We strive t recruit respnsible, caring, quality staff members t serve as rle mdels fr campers. Each cabin is supervised by a Senir Cunselr wh is at least 18 years ld. Overnight camp leadership staff is cmprised f upper level cllege students and graduates. All staff members underg extensive screening and training (including CPR/First Aid certificatin and criminal backgrund checks) prir t being placed n the jb. Certified lifeguards supervise all pl and waterfrnt activities. Equestrian instructrs are CHA certified. Camp health care prviders hld certificatins that meet standards set by the Texas Department f Health. Camp has an n call dctr and is just minutes frm Ck s Children s Hspital. Our prgram and staff/camper ratis cmply with Texas Department f Health standards, and are licensed and inspected by the State f Texas 13

14 Christian Emphasis Develping spiritually thrugh Christian prgrams is an imprtant part f life at YMCA Camp Carter. Each sessin, campers have the pprtunity t share in nn-denminatinal fellwship thrugh daily devtinals, weekly chapel services, and singing graces at mealtimes. These gatherings are attended by everyne at camp and emphasize mrals, values and friendship. YMCA Camp Carter welcmes all persns withut regard t religin, race, clr, natinal rigin, r plitical belief. Raggers and Leathers The YMCA Ragger and Leather prgrams, fr campers 12 and up and 9 and up respectively, fcus n persnal grwth. They are designed t encurage campers t take an in-depth lk at their beliefs, their strengths and weaknesses, and invite them t accept the challenge t grw in spirit, mind and bdy.
