It was a glorious day with a wonderful attendance from all the clubs. The gardens are looking great a credit to Ray and his band of workers. Doc unveiled the new Ridden on Board that has been erected at the Gardens. Thanks to all who attended it was great to see you all there!! UPCOMING EVENTS 2016 For more info on Rides. 3 Hi everyone PRESIDENT S REPORT Another month closer to Christmas. Our Christmas party will be at Delaneys Creek pony Club this year. More info later on in the month. Our gymkhana is on the 8th October, should be a fun day, remember it is free entry. Happening at Archer Falls Neurum via Woodford. 10 am. The weather is picking up nicely with warmer nights and sunny days. A group of us went to Blackbutt and joined in the fun at Redcliffes Odyssey. Unfortunately we were not quite good enough to keep our name on the board this year, maybe we will next year. I enjoyed myself and I am pretty sure everyone else did as well. Sunshine Coast took the honours this year. Congratulations to them. I came home with a lovely dose of sunburn, 2 raffle prizes, and a 3rd place for the rowing game. Thanks to Redcliffe for putting this event on. Also thanks to my club mates who played all the games with me. Well enough of my ramblings, will see you all at the club on Wednesday nights. Feel free to bring your friends who might enjoy a fun time, and maybe win a raffle. 7 Memorial Ride So many members have Ridden On. Yet so many members came to remember them. What a great day. The memorial gardens and the ridden on boards are a special place for us all to visit whenever were on a ride out that way. To all the workers that made the memorial gardens what it is today we say thank-you. CHRISTMAS PARTY IS AT DELANEY S CREEK PONY CLUB THIS YEAR CAMPING ON-SITE FOR THOSE THAT WANT TO SLEEP OVER. 8 Redcliffe Odyssey On Friday 23 rd September, Ron & Sweetpea, Taffy, Deb & Barry, Big Pete & Patcha, Tiena & Hacker & Peta & I headed up to the Redcliffe Odyssey for the weekend. Friday night was a sausage sizzle with a few drinks and a catch-up. It was a chilly night so Deb & I went on the hunt for a fireplace but we couldn t pinch one so we got out the fan heaters and had a few more drinks!!!! Saturday we went for a walk into Blackbutt for a coffee and treat at the Bakery - Yumm!! Storm, Michelle, Possum & Jock arrived to join in for the games at It was a fun afternoon with Glasshouse winning a few medals. The Winners for the day was Sunshine Coast and the wooden spoon went to Northern Gateway. A $1,000 cheque was given to LIFEFLIGHT. It was a great day and thanks must go to Redcliffe for organising a 8

9 PIZZA NIGHT AT WOODFORD HOTEL Saturday 17th September Hacker and Tiena were the ride leaders leaving from BP North. Great ride around through Mt Mee. Storm, Cobba, Ron and Niecey were at the Woodford Pub waiting. Ordered our Pizza s but could not eat them as they were so big. Best pizza s. Great night had by all with some great friends. 12 Celtic Cruisers Ulysses Club Inc. - Glen Innes Branch 2016 Meet and Greet Information Sheet Dates Friday 4 to Sunday 6 November 2015 Registration Registration Forms need to be received by 28 October 2016 to allow for the finalisation of catering. Numbers this year will be limited to 125 persons. Location This year the Meet N Greet Meals and Entertainment will again be held at the Glen Innes Show Ground. Camping is also available at the Show Ground for those who wish to set up for a one stop shop. Information on camping availability and costs at the Grounds are detailed below in this information sheet. For those members wishing to use other accommodation in town, our usual courtesy bus will operate between your accommodation and the Show Ground. For entry to the Glen Innes Show Ground please use the Torrington Street Entrance. Check In Registration Check In will be at the Show Ground on Friday from pm and Saturday between 4.30 to 6.30 pm. Please visit our Marquee at the entrance of the Show Ground during these times to collect your registration badges, Show n Shine Rego Sticker and for any information about the weekend s activities. Camping Check In on arrival please visit the Caretakers Cottage on the right hand side of the entry gates and you will be allocated a camping site dependant on your booking request (powered or unpowered) Friday Night Welcome Dinner held at the Show Ground Tea Rooms and Outdoor Entertainment area commencing with pre dinner drinks at 6.30, Dinner commences at 7.00pm. Two course meal with Bar Facilities and entertainment. Saturday Activities Saturday Morning breakfast will be available at the Show Ground commencing at 7.00 am until 8.00 am. Bacon & Egg or Sausage & Egg sangas with juice, tea, coffee etc. Pay as you go. Mystery Ride At 0830 there will be a Mystery Ride Brief for those participating which will be held at our information Marquee at the entrance to the Show Ground. Departure for the ride will be 0900 and return to the Show Ground at approx Page 16 for registration form. 12

16 Helga Petersen # Born 1/11/1935 Died 25/09/2016 Helga Petersen Dutchess joined the Ulysses Club back in October 1999 along with her husband Bob The Flying Dutchman or Woofa, Saski Ski & sons Bob Jnr & Frank. Bob & Helga & Co. visited the different branches in the south east and finally settled on Glasshouse Mtns Branch a place where they were warmly accepted into the fold. They thought nothing of travelling from Fernvale to Caboolture each Wednesday evening and all the rides & social events on weekends. Helga, one of the senior ladies, will be remembered for her cheery smiles and willingness to join in on everything going on. Helga & Bob & family came out from Holland years earlier. They would go everywhere together on their bike and later their trike. Bob encouraged Helga to learn to ride and get her licence and go solo before Bob died on Ma s bikes included a Yamaha Majestic & Yamaha Burgman. She loved them and would think nothing of getting out on her own. Her longest ride was the Townsville Odyssey back in She loved everybody and everyone loved her. A Duchess in the true form but better known as Ma to all who knew her. Back in 2010 the branch visited her at Ski s place at Coominya to present her with her much rewarded 10 year badge. Mother s Day ride to Kilcoy in 2011 was the last ride she came on.. You are missed Ma but we know you will be up there riding the wild blue yonder with Woofa again. 18 pie run to Blackbutt On Saturday 7 th Toppy, Harley, Possum, Eric, Ron, Peta & I along with Bitch & Desiree in the car headed up to Blackbutt for a pie. At Kilcoy, we picked up Kelly and had a coffee. On the way to Blackbutt, Little John joined us for the ride. It was a lovely day for a ride even though the fog was a bit thick. The pies at the Bakehouse were delicious and the company was pretty 18
