1 YAMBA PEARLER FREE CALL Orion Drive Yamba NSW 2464 JUNE 2018 A GOLDEN BIRTHDAY The GREAT OCEAN ROAD
2 Hope the fine tuning of the brains in readiness for Trivia is near completion. Don't forget to get your team organized and onto the list at the notice board as cut-off is 11:00 AM on Tuesday 5th June. We need this time to do our catering orders. There are some great prizes for Trivia, Raffles, along with our 100 Club & Lucky House number draw. A two-course meal will be served to help fuel the brain. (Boy, some of us NEED it ). BYO drinks and nibbles. ~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~ Christmas in July will be a two-course hot lunch with some drinks included and will be held on Saturday 15th July - sorry, but we had to change the date. More details coming your way down the track. Looking forward to seeing you there. - Janet Myers The APRIL draw gave the following results:- 1st. - Chris Legg, #22. $100 2nd. - Marilyn Taylor, #84. $30. 3rd. - Kevin Hillman, #52. $20. The Lucky Address was not drawn so next draw will be at the Trivia Night, 9th. June. - John Grant THURSDAY NIGHT DINNERS The dinner-dates in JUNE are on the 14th. and 28th. We hope you enjoyed the Soup & Pizza Night and the good food from the BLOCK CAFE (located at the YHA Backpackers in Coldstream St.) Thank you for your assistance and support 2 - Neville & Kaye Pattrick
3 The GREAT OCEAN ROAD Seven residents from Palm Lake Resort recently travelled with Ab- Fab Tours of Grafton on a Great Ocean Road Tour. Highlights included: the Licorice and Chocolate Factory in Junee, Puffing Billy Steam Train through the Dandenong ranges, Phillip Island, and Sovereign Hill in Ballarat, to name a few. Along the Great Ocean Road was the Memorial Arch, 12 Apostles, the Arch and London Bridge. New friends were made and a great time was had by all. - Bev Bender 3
4 PALM LAKE OYSTER COVE LAWN BOWLS Some of our regulars have headed off on their annual Winter holidays but we continue to enjoy good numbers for Sunday & Thursday Bowls. Beryl and Tom will be organising the State of Origin Bowls for Our Monthly BBQ will be held Sunday, 3rd. June - Come along and enjoy a pleasant social outing - All residents welcome - List on Bowls Notice Board. We have had a lot of DVD s donated to us just lately. It is a problem, in as much as we are limited for shelf space to display them. Some of these DVD s are suitable in our opinion, however others might think otherwise. So we are trialing a system where we put a sticker on the front cover and ask you to give it a tick or a X on what you thought of it. When we go to sort them, anything that hasn t been marked as seen, will go. Please feel free to use all of the goods in the library and also to donate so there is always something new and up-to-date that you think others might like. PLEASE HELP US WITH THIS, AS IT IS YOUR LIBRARY TOO -Beryl McConnell Mother s Day Almost 50 residents who did not have family close by got together for Mother s Day lunch in the BBQ area because the day was so nice after the wind on Saturday. Everyone bought a plate to share, the Mothers all got a few glasses of Bubbly and everyone shared in delicious chocolates. As it was a private function, no raffles were held. Everyone went home very happy. 4
