1 THE WHALER ULYSSES CLUB INC. - FLEURIEU BRANCH NEWSLETTER May 2016 President s Report Hi Everyone A big thank you to the members who came along to our last committee meeting at the Alma, and those who submitted nomination forms for the Fleurieu Branch Committee. We will be thrilled to have new people on the committee! Nominations for FB Committee close on 19 May, 2016 if you are thinking about putting a nomination in, this is the cut-off date. We will have forms available on the night. Also thank you to Trevor and Gary for assisting one of our new members after a recent ride. Brian had a mishap at the Aldinga Service Station. Trevor and Gary stayed with Brian until an ambulance arrived, then organised a bike trailer and transported his bike safely back to his home garage. Brian s bike did not fare well but I spoke to Brian in hospital and after his discharge. Brian was a bit sore and battered by the experience but he asked me to make sure I thanked everyone who helped him, especially Trevor and Gary. Well done guys, true Ulysses spirit. A few members have contacted me seeking updates on our Odyssey planned for the October Long Weekend Fri 30 Sept Mon 3 rd Oct Hobbit, as Chair of the Odyssey working party will provide you all with a full update at the next branch social meeting. There are lots of important updates, including one from Mark from NATCOM, so please attend on 19 May if you can. Take care everyone, ride safely and see you on Thurs 19 th. Julie # President Fleurieu Branch.

After leaving the Alma Hotel we did a half circle of the Willunga area which included a little bit of dirt track, as usual! Onto Norman Rd, Justs Rd, Main South Rd and onto Yankalilla for a wee stop. What fabulous scenery we have so close to home, the changing colours of the autumn leaves and the rolling hills with new greenery coming through. After food & drinks we continued to Normanville and over the Myponga Dam. We had to hold on tight as the wind was getting fairly strong. It was great going along Pages Flat Rd were we could blow a few cobwebs out of our helmets. Cruising through Brookman Rd to Meadows was a pleasure. Turning left we made our way to enjoy a lovely lunch and great company at the McLaren Vale Hotel. The sun shining, beaut roads, what else does a rider need? Cheers Trevor & Helen
