2 Dear Inner Wheel friends, Letter from President Wendy Henderson A big thank you to Beth for organising the Daffodil Day volunteers for our Jeans West corner and also thank you to those ladies who volunteered their time last Friday for this worthy cause. We had 18 or 19 turn up from North, East and our Club for the NZ Walk & Talk Day on Saturday, 1 September and what a lovely morning it was walking through Queens Park with the Spring flowers coming into bloom. At the end of the walk we enjoyed a cuppa at the Cheeky Llama Café where there was plenty of chatter amongst us, some catching up with old friends, some meeting new. Our last Club evening with designer Ainsley Beer was a most pleasant evening hearing Ainsley s story and seeing her latest designs. Dariel went home with a fabulous creation from the collection. Myself and Josie recently attended a meeting with North, South & East Club Presidents and Membership persons held to discuss some ideas we can work on to generate membership and publicise the ideals our organisation. We are meeting again in November to work through some of these ideas. We will be arranging a movies night ( Ladies in Black ) which will be screening at Reading Cinema later in September. Once we have more information on times, dates etc. we will let you know. We have decided to recommence our walk and coffee morning through Queens Park again now that winter has passed so for a bit of exercise followed by morning tea, we will meet in the car park at am outside the Cheeky Llama Café on the last Wednesday of each month with the first one starting on the 26 September. Those not wanting to walk can join us at for coffee. A Heads Up we will hold a Sales Table at our October meeting time to sow some plants; jam/pickle making; look out your old books; bric-a-brac; etc etc. I look forward to catching up with you all at our next Club meeting our Committee thought it a good idea to bring along the polar fleece knee rugs we are making so you all can have a hand in doing some of the knotting. We also have the children s pyjamas to bag up for delivery to the children s ward at Kew. So plenty of time for food, fellowship and knotting!! The polar fleece and the pyjamas have been purchased with funds received from the donation the Rotary Club gave us for providing the luncheon at the Book Sale. Don t forget we start at 5.30 pm with our finger tea. In friendship Wendy IWNZ CONFERENCE 2019 TO BE HELD IN AUCKLAND 2-5 MAY 2019 CHECK OUT THE WEB SITE
