1 42. Commando Association. News Letter 2017 Dear Members May I take this opportunity to thank all members for supporting 42 Commando Associations 19 th annual reunion on the weekend of Friday 4 th August to Monday 7 th August 2017, at the Village Hotel Blackpool. The weather on arrival for members on Friday 4th August was nice with the sun shining and it remained like this for the whole of the weekend. Some members went to the Blackpool branch of the RMA and were made really welcome, the branch laid on a buffet and held a raffle, 42 Commando Association would like to thank them for their hospitality a great night was had by all who attended. The 19 th reunion and AGM were both well attended, the committee would like to thank all members, wives, partners and guests who attended for their support Saturday night and Sunday night, The gala dinner and gala buffet both with wine reception were well attended, entertainment was provided on both nights, Saturday nights entertainment was provided by The Angels this was a great all girl act. Sunday night we were entertained by the Country and Western Band, Knoxville, they really were both top class bands. The committee would like to thank the ladies who once again gave up their time to run the raffle on both Saturday and Sunday nights, and on behalf of the association we are truly grateful. Also members of the committee would like to thank everyone, who donated raffle prizes and money donations, for the purchase of raffle prizes on both nights. Without our member s support and generosity we would not be able to raise funding, once again thank you all for your tremendous support for the association. The committee would also like to thank all member s for the support you give to our serving Royal Marines who we invite to our reunions funded, through your kind donations and this year only one serving Royal Marine attended RQMS. WO2 Mark Newey was allowed to attend by 42 Commando RM, as other members were on leave and the association would like to say thank you Mark for your support. I have booked the entertainment for 2018 at the Village Hotel and look forward to your support as requested by members I have re-booked Country and Western Band Knoxville for the Sunday night so the dress will be much more casual as it was this year, I have also booked The Revolver- Beatles Tribute Band for the Saturday night. At the moment the Association is spending between 500 and 600 a year on stamps, can I ask that if anyone has an address could you please let me have it so we can reduce the cost to the association. I am sorry to bring to your attention that the following persons have retired from the 42 Commando Association Committee, they are Secretary Ray Welsby, Treasure Arthur O Neill, Welfare/Liaison Brian Downey and Committee member Don Reid. I would like to take this opportunity of thanking them for all the work they have done on behalf of the association and also, let us not forget Mrs. Anne O Neill for her support in selling raffle tickets over the years in support of the association at our functions Thank you Anne we will miss you and we wish you well.
