3 We've seen quite a few changes to the branch over the last 4 years from an explosion of new membership and circumstances forcing us to abandon our clubhouse of 15 odd years and now to pushing us to move away from the ISP (Internet Service Provider) that has been hosting our web site for many years and onto the Nation domain. (glasshouse.ulyssesclub.org) Change is a natural part of the challenge of life and you need to rise up to meet those challenges if you are to build the character needed to prosper and move forward to the next stage of life. As they say, when one door closes, another one opens. The secret is to take everything one step at a time and try not to get to far ahead of yourself and trip over your own feet. We have had a lot of wet weather lately which has put a dampener on the rides put forward but hopefully it will rain itself out soon so we can get back to going on some of the great rides Ziggy has put together for us. Help a club-mate out if you can and let Ziggy know of any top rides you think other members would also like to go on so we can all enjoy an experience you've already had. See you all at the next meeting night. Disgracefully yours, Terry Sheppard (Dartss #53697) Dartss recently announced a plan to see if our aging brain is still working by putting up a Brain Teaser. The idea is if you have worked it out and have purchased your weekly meat raffle tickets then let Dartss know your answer. Do not wait until the raffles are drawn as you may miss out. Remember the old saying First in Best Dressed The winner receives a Mystery prize There is 1 Brain Teaser a month and will be open for that month until the answer is received. Brain Teaser for March is There are three light switches downstairs. Each switch corresponds to one of three light bulbs in the attic. You are allowed to turn the switches on and off as many times as you like and leave them in any position. How would you identify which switch belongs to which light bulb, if you are only allowed one trip to the attic? Drums: Is still in Hospital and doing as well as can be expected, he was taken to ICU on Friday night not doing so well, Give his family a bit of a fright, but alas he is a fighter and hopefully he will be back in the ward by the time you all read this report. He has been through a lot in the past several Months and has managed to prove everyone wrong and held his own. He has that fighting Spirit obviously. Shamrock is coping as best she can as is the whole family!! Kermit: Tiena has had a bit of a set back with her hip and is struggling a bit with an infection, I m sure like myself everyone wishes her a speedy recovery. Hacker: Is doing well but has to take things easy for awhile, he looks great and is doing everything the Doctors have told him, he ll be back up and helping lead those rides before we know it. The position of Welfare Officer is still available, should any Branch Member like to help to keep a check on our Members please let us know. 5 Sunday 3rd February Ride by Ike & Kat Ziggy, Basa & Nettie, Wayne & Michelle, Brian & Lea, Dave & Fran, Martin & Annie, Ike & Kat plus June Jo & Peta in their car as Tail end Charlies. June has to be a little more patient before she can ride her trike. Beautiful summer's day, perfect for riding. Ziggy, was and a very good one too. What the hell happened to Cliffe and all the other MEMBERS? Left BP North. Headed down the highway, looking for adventure and whatever comes our way. (Hey wait a minute that remindes me of a song.) First stop Woodford for a coffee and a wee wee break. Then back on our iron horses heading to Maleny on our way to Kenilworth. Cruising along we were overtaken by half a dozen or more café racers. Next minute DRAMA One of the speed demons lost it on a sharp bend. Ziggy stopped we followed to see if we could be of some help. Fortunately the rider (woman) only suffered minor lacerations VERY LUCKY. Her bike had gone down an embankment and her friends asked for a few of our guys to help pull the bike up on to the road. Kat started walking towards the group and somebody yelled 'Kat your not a man.' HAAAA Fran & Jo decided to become nurses. Fran had the first aid kit & Jo got the Panadol. All cool headed off to Kenilworth, passed the Bellbird Café apparently too expensive. Arrived in Kenilworth and Ziggy demanded we all go to the pub for a counter lunch and a couple of ales. We had no choice, Ziggy said he would evoke all our memberships if we didn t follow him. While enjoying our 5 course meal, we were suddenly engulfed in the roar of motorcycles. 50 bikes. Fran & Dave feared for their lives and took off to the café for lunch Annie & Martin & Michelle & Wayne knew trouble was looming so jumped on their bikes and took off. Fortunately enough Ike who could speak fluent bikie, defused a potentially nasty incident. (DON T LET THE TRUTH GET IN THE WAY OF A GOOD STORY)) Once calm was restored we hopped our steeds and headed to Lake Baroon. We had a bit of a walk around (a tour of duty you might say) then back on our beasts again heading to the Patriots Clubhouse for some light refreshments. Calling it a day. We said our goodbyes. Another good ride. Thanks Ziggy & too the others for their company. Snake Mike Jones received his 60 year badge from Dartss during February and now he is with his wife Sandi cruising the Pacific Ocean celebrating his birthday SENIOR DRIVER My neighbour was working in his yard when he was startled by a late model car that came crashing through his hedge and ended up in his front lawn. He rushed to help an elderly lady driver out of the car and sat her down on a lawn chair. He said with excitement, "you appear quite elderly to be driving." "Well, yes, I am," she replied proudly. "I'll be 97 next month, and I am now old enough that I don't even need a driver's licence. "The last time I went to my doctor, he examined me and asked if I had a driver's licence. I told him, yes, and handed it to him. He took scissors out of the drawer, cut the licence into pieces, and threw them in the waste basket, saying, 'You won't need this anymore,' so I thanked him and left!" 5
