1 Volume 76 Issue 14 Tuesday 5 October 2010 Next week, Barbra Wyatt will be presenting, come and enjoy a great presentation. I am sure there will be good information on Barbra s experience within Rotary. This week Frank Forgione presented his world of Electronics, innovation, family and our distributor of contact in hard copy; E Letter. Frank was born in Australia and brought up in a true Italian culture. Loved hearing about the wine and the tomato sauce, don t forget the salami. Grew up in the earlier years in Coburg and later Glenroy. Frank started his career in Electronics with the Baker institute near the Alfred Hospital and moved into X- Ray Imaging, Biomedical, where he assisted in major innovative ideas to the industry. Frank s Education background expanded into a Post Graduate in Medical Science and Post Graduate in Business Management. His last educational achievement has assisted him in his current role as the General Manager of E Letter a subsidiary of Australia Post. Frank has donated his service to send Contact out to members via mail. Many Thanks Frank. Things to remember: Essendon Rotary Club in conjunction with Kangan Institute is in the process of planning a cocktail party/art show on Friday 12 November. Attendance at today s meeting 35Members & 1 guest Upcoming Committee Meetings International Tuesday 12 th Home of Simon and Roma Cookson, 20 Grandview Road Niddrie Community Wednesday 13 th Venue to be advised Fellowship Tuesday 19 th Venue to be advised If you are not able to attend a Committee meeting, please apologise to your Committee Chair and meeting host, prior to the date of the meeting.

2 Christmas Trailer Raffle The Community Committee is once again organising the Christmas Trailer Raffle. The raffle is a significant event on our calendar as it raises funds for community projects (mostly from the general community), allows other community groups to raise funds by selling tickets, provides great fellowship for ticket sellers and promotes our club in the community. Following many successful years of co-ordinating the raffle, Roger Priestley has handed over this role to his brother, Roger Leask. To maximise the success of the raffle, Roger is seeking suitable goods to be placed in the trailer or to be used as consolation prizes. These goods may be obtained from a contact that you have or by a generous donation of goods or cash from you. If other commitments have not allowed you to fully participate in Club activities, this is a good way to contribute. Examples of items contributed in past years are shown below. If you are able to contribute a particular item, please advise Roger ( ) ASAP, to ensure that we don t have a trailer filled with 79 outdoor umbrellas. Television Childs Bike BBQ Children's toys (large and inexpensive) Small travel luggage Tarpaulin with ties Coffee Machine Hand Trolley - light weight Sound Equipment- portable Trestle Tables Outdoor Umbrella Outdoor setting for 2 Electric Extension Cord long Power Tools of any kind Ladders -- 3,4 or 5 step

4 The Four Way Test Rotary s Four Way Test was written by Chicago Rotarian Herbert J Taylor (RI President ) in The test contains the following four questions to apply to things we think, say or do: Will it be BENEFICIAL to all concerned? Will it build GOODWILL and BETTER FRIENDSHIPS? Is it the TRUTH? Is it FAIR to all concerned? History in the Making Community committee have organised a display entitled "The First 75 Years of Rotary Club of Essendon". It will open for public viewing at the Sam Merrifield Library, Mt Alexander Rd, Moonee Ponds on Tuesday 12th October and continue until Friday 29th October It will then be moved to Moonee Ponds Central Shopping Centre, in the Mall between Hall St and Homer St, and be on display there on Sunday 31 October, in conjunction with the Centre's "Sunday Funday". Admission is free and the objective is to promote Rotary within our community. We have been greatly assisted in our endeavours by Sam Merrifield Library and Moonee Valley Racing Club who are lending us the Art Display Panels, upon which our memorabilia will be displayed, for the duration of our event.
