1 1 MALENY Maleny is a very pretty town in the Sunshine Coast Hinterland with beautiful views to the coast and surrounding rural country. The area is very green with beautiful big trees and lush vegetation. The township has plenty of eateries and many art and craft shops to cater to the continual flow of tourists in the area. Maleny has a history of 100+ years and has grown from a farming community to what it is to-day and many buildings have been maintained to a very high standard. Maleny is still famous for its dairy products. A large attraction is the different walks and scenery that changes continually from one outlook to another. There is a beautiful rainforest walk alongside Obi Obi Creek from the showground to Maleny. The showground amenities are of a very high standard and the meeting hall catered for us in every way. It was very roomy and we had some very entertaining activities especially the horse racing and the dress up Melbourne Cup scene.
2 2 PRESIDENT S REPORT - MALENY RALLY Maleny was a great venue for our November Rally. By Wednesday afternoon 10 vans had arrived - a great start to the weekend. By Friday afternoon we had 19 vans - a good roll up. Thursday was pretty much a set up day then Friday Morning we went on a fun run drive via Kenilworth, Mapleton, Montville & return to Maleny with morning tea / ice creams at Kenilworth then on to Montville for lunch - what a lovely scenic drive it was. Friday afternoon the BBQ S where fired up for the evening meal in the hall, followed up with various games. Saturday morning we had our Quarterly General Meeting then after lunch it was free time till 4.00 pm. I noticed some of the ladies doing some sewing. It was nice to see them sharing their skills. Saturday 4.00 pm saw the start of the evenings activities. Happy hour with nibbles followed by the Melbourne Cup horse races organised by Sarah & assisted by Winton & Dennis, many thanks to all three. The racing was followed with toasted sandwiches for the evening meal followed by more board games. Sadly during the storm Sep & Marianne lost their awning & in true club spirit a lot of members gave assistance to secure it to travel home. Don t forget our December Christmas Rally is early 5 th to 10 th December at Kilcoy. Hope to see you all there.
