This graph shows the variation in average daily traffic for the last 12-month period relative to the previous 12-months. The average daily traffic from July 216 to June 217 was 3.7% higher than the average from July 215 to June 216. Spain (excl. Canary Islands) was the top contributor with 36 extra daily flights mainly due to increased flows to/from North-West Europe (UK, Germany, the Netherlands, Sweden). UK came next with 247 extra daily flights mainly due to increased flows to/from South- West Europe (Spain, Italy, Portugal, Canary Islands, France). Ex-aequo with UK, Turkey benefited from a bounce back (Russian ban on charter flights in 216) and was among the top three contributors for the first time in 15 months adding 246 daily flights to the network; its international departures/arrivals increased by 15%. Italy added 221 daily flights owing partly to its dynamic internal flow which was up 6.3%. Three states (Germany, Greece, Portugal) added a combined 381 daily flights to the network. The following states: the Netherlands, Ukraine, Sweden, Romania and Poland added together 395 daily flights. Croatia entered the top contributors for the first time in 217 with the addition of 56 daily flights to the network in June. Charter was the strongest market segment with a growth rate of 7.9% mainly due to flows between the Russian Federation and Turkey which added 132 flights/day compared to June last year when Russian charter flights to Turkey were banned. The allcargo segment maintained a dynamic growth and was up 7.7%. The low-cost, business aviation and traditional scheduled segments grew 7.3%, 5.3% and 3.8% respectively. The top three extra-european partners in average daily flights in both directions were the United States (1,174 flights, up 6%), the Russian Federation (1,15 flights, +32.3%) and the United Arab Emirates (34 flights, up 1%). Traffic flows between Europe and North Africa showed a robust progression and increased by 41% to 174 flights per day for Egypt and by 18% to 128 flights per day for Tunisia. The aircraft operators that added the most flights to the network on a daily basis were Ryanair (+199 flights/day), easyjet plc (+125 flights/day), Wizz Air (+71 flights/day) and Turkish Airlines (+7 flights/day). 4 Nine of the top ten airports had positive traffic growth. Overall, the largest traffic increases in June 217 were at Antalya, Tel Aviv/Ben Gurion, Birmingham, Milano/Malpensa and Lisbon airports. The largest traffic decreases were at Istanbul/Sabiha Gökcen, Rome/Fiumicino, Copenhagen, Berlin/Tegel and Lyon airports. Antalya traffic increase is due to the comparison with June 216 when there was a clear drop in tourism due to the unstable political situation. Tel Aviv/Ben Gurion traffic increase was due to increase in tourism. The increase of traffic in Birmingham airport is due to the opening of new routes. The traffic growth at Milano/Malpensa is in line with passenger traffic growth forecast. Nine of the top ten aircraft operators had more traffic compared to June 216. The operators with the highest traffic growth were Eurowings, FlyNiki, Norwegian Air International, Olympic and SunExpress airlines. Air Berlin, Germanwings, Aegean, Norwegian Air Shuttle and HOP airlines recorded the highest traffic decrease. Norwegian Air International traffic variation comes from a change in fleet size following new aircraft deliveries, as well as aircraft moving from using NAX to the IBK callsign. The traffic variation of Olympic and Aegean is due to Aegean flights operated with Olympic callsign. Airberlin has transferred its 16 European holiday destinations to FlyNiki which will operate from Dusseldorf to destinations in Spain, the Canary Islands, Portugal and the Greek islands from the start of the summer schedule. The traffic variation of Eurowings follows the continued integration of Germanwings and some Lufthansa routes into the Eurowings operation. 5 The Lisbon, Santa Maria, Madrid, Casablanca, Canarias and Bordeaux ACCs variation is due to increased traffic in the South/West axis. However, the highest relative traffic increases in June 217 were in Yerevan, Chisinau, Kiev, Odessa and Skopje ACCs. Traffic increase between Europe and Egypt/UAE explained the variation of Cairo ACC. Reykjavik ACC traffic variation is due to an increase usage of northern routes between US and Europe. Traffic increase in French ACCs is due partly to the comparison with June 216 during which several French industrial actions took place. Tel Aviv ACC variation is due to increase in tourism and increase of domestic flights. NM Monthly Network Operations Report - Analysis June 217 Page 5

13 6. ALL AIR TRANSPORT DELAYS (SOURCE: CODA) This section presents the all air transport delay situation as seen from the airlines by using the data collected by Central Office for Delay Analysis (CODA) from airlines. Data coverage is 62% of the commercial flights in the ECAC region for May 217. ATFM delays reported by airlines may be lower than the NM calculated ATFM delays due to difference in methods: ATFM delays of NM are the (flight) planned delays ; the airlines report the actual experienced ATFM delay on departure. For instance, a flight with an ATFM delay may also have a handling delay absorbed within the ATFM delay. For the airline, a part of this delay is the ATFM delay and the remaining amount is the handling delay.
