3 1. TOTAL TRAFFIC Traffic increased by 2.1% in July 215 compared to July 214. The traffic increase which started in January continues in July. Average daily traffic in July for last 5 Years Intermediate Forecast dated Last 13 months average daily traffic The traffic increase of 2.1% was in line with the baseline forecast for July Average daily traffic in July was the highest of the last five years. 12 months rolling traffic trend This graph shows the variation in average daily traffic for the last 12-month period relative to previous 12-months. The average daily traffic from August 214 to July 215 was 1.2% higher than the average from August 213 to July 214. The trend shows a continuous modest recovery in traffic that dates back to April 213. Turkey was the top contributor to growth of local traffic 1 in Europe adding 315 daily flights, followed by UK (+157 flights), Spain (+125 flights), Germany (+97 flights) and Greece (+72 flights). Czech Republic and Hungary were the new contributors, each adding circa 3 daily flights. In total 13 states contributed to more than 25 daily flights to the network in July. Norway continued to see a decline in its local traffic since the beginning of the year with 71 fewer daily flights in July 215 (vs. July 214). Low-cost was the strongest market segment with a continuing growth rate around 5% since April 215. The traditional scheduled segment growth accelerated from 1.5% in June to 2.8% in July. The business aviation segment increased by 1.5% in July compared to July 214. This is the highest growth rate since October 214. The all-cargo segment remained positive although with a small increase of.4% in July 215 (vs. July 214). The charter segment continued to decline and was down 13% in July 215 (vs. 214), mainly due to a decrease of traffic to/from Russia and Tunisia (-8%). Additionally, the charter traffic decrease is inflated due to some aircraft operators filing a different flight type in 215 compared with last year, which accounted for almost 4% of the decline. Extra-European traffic to and from the Russian Federation declined by 18% in July 215 (vs. July 214); a decline which has been stable since the beginning of the year. Following the terrorist attack in Tunisia on 26 June, traffic to/from the state was down 33% in July with flights shifting mostly to Spain. The aircraft operators which added the most flights to the network on a daily basis in July 215 (vs. July 214) were Turkish Airlines (+192 flights), Ryanair (+117 flights), easyjet (+8 flights), Wizzair (+72 flights) and Vueling (+65 flights). The aircraft operators which removed the largest number of flights from the network were Monarch (-37 flights) and Air Berlin (-36 flights). Re-routings to avoid the Ukrainian airspace which began end of February 214 continued to result in increases of overflights for Hungary (+1), Bulgaria (+7%) and Turkey (+5%) and decreases of overflights for Moldova (-3). 4 Nine of the top 1 airports had positive traffic growth compared to July 214. The exception was Rome/Fiumicino airport which had a flight reduction between 6-7 May and 18 July after the terminal building fire. Overall, the largest traffic increases in July 215 were at Istanbul/Sabiha Gökcen, Athens, London/Luton, Dublin, Tel Aviv and London/Stansted airports. Expo 215 being held in Milan between 1 May and 31 October 215 accounts for the Milano/Linate traffic increase. The largest traffic decreases were at Oslo/Gardermoen, Marseille/Provence and Birmingham airports. Six of the top 1 aircraft operators had more traffic compared to July 214. Overall, the operators with the highest traffic growth were Finnair, Sunexpress, Volotea, Wizz Air, Emirates, Ukraine International, Pegasus, Turkish Airlines, Qatar Airways and Royal Air Maroc Airlines. Monarch, Lot Polish Airlines, Transaero airlines, Air Berlin and Lufthansa airlines recorded the highest traffic decrease compared to July 214. The traffic variation of AFR and HOP!, Flybe (Finland) and Finnair, and Lufthansa and Germanwings is due to the transferring of flights between the aircraft operators. Pegasus, Travel Servis and Volotea recorded an increase in flights compared to July 214 due to an increase in fleet sizes. NM Monthly Network Operations Report - Analysis - July 215 Page 3

5 Traffic avoiding the Ukraine airspace continues to affect traffic flows in Budapest, Bratislava, Belgrade and Sofia ACCs. There was significant reduction in traffic in Chisinau, Yerevan and Tunis ACCs. Malta ACC continues to be affected by the changes in Libyan airspace availability but to a lesser extent compared to previous months. There was significant traffic increase in Cairo, Beirut, Tbilisi, Ankara and Tel Aviv ACCs. NM Monthly Network Operations Report - Analysis - July 215 Page 4

13 6. ALL AIR TRANSPORT DELAYS (Source: CODA) This section presents the all air transport delay situation as seen from the airlines by using the data collected by Central Office for Delay Analysis (CODA) from the airlines. Data coverage is 6 of the commercial flights in the ECAC region for June 215. ATFM delays reported by airlines may be lower than the NM calculated ATFM delays due to difference in methods: ATFM delays of NM are the (flight) planned delays ; the airlines report the actual experienced ATFM delay on departure. For instance, a flight with an ATFM delay may also have a handling delay absorbed within the ATFM delay. For the airline, a part of this delay is the ATFM delay and the remaining amount is the handling delay. Breakdown Average Delay per Flight June 215 Average departure delay/flight (min) Average En-Route Delay/Flight.6 Average En-Route Delay/Flight 6.1 Average primary delay 11.2 Passenger experience Based on airline data, the average departure delay per flight from All Causes was 11.2 minutes per flight, this was a decrease of 5% in comparison to 11.8 minutes per flight in the same month in 214. Within all air transport delays, en-route ATFM delays were.6 minutes/flight in June 215. Primary delays counted for 55% (or 6.1 min/flt ) of which.6 min/flight was attributed to en-route ATFM delays, with reactionary delays representing a smaller remaining share of 45% at (5.1 min/flt).
