3 1. TOTAL TRAFFIC 32 Last 13 months average daily traffic 31 Average daily traffic for last 5 Years In August 213 the traffic increased by.4% compared to August 212, the first growth in 18 months. Traffic in 213 continues to follow 21 and 212 levels Average daily traffic in August for last 5 Years Intermediate Forecast dated % % % -1.2% -1.7% -1.9% 12 months rolling traffic trend -2.1% -2.6% -2.8% -2.6% -2.8% -2.6% -2.4% -2.4% -2.3% -2.2% BASELINE FORECAST HIGH FORECAST % August traffic was slightly below the high forecast of May 213. Turkey remained the biggest contributor to the network growth, adding more than 2 daily flights; followed by the Scandinavian states bringing as many flights as Turkey between them. UK maintained its position of weak growth. Greece entered the top 5 (adding circa 5 flights per day), although a part of this growth is recovery from the low traffic levels during the 212 corresponding period. At the other end of the spectrum, Italy, Germany, Spain and France continue to see fewer flights (excluding overflights). Continuing strong growth from Russia into Europe has added more than 12 extra daily flights to the network. This graph shows the variation in average daily traffic for the last 12-month period relative to that for the 12-month period before. The average daily traffic from September 212 to August 213 decreased by 2.2% relative to that from September 211 to August 212. Up until August, only the low-cost market segment was showing consistent growth, and even this was only around 2%; far slower than historical rates of low-cost growth. The main other market segments have been in moderate decline (around -3% to -5%), but both business aviation and the traditional scheduled carriers shifted back into growth in August. The most recent forecast, published in May, was for a 1% decline in average daily flights in 213 for Europe as a whole. Cumulative actual traffic since the start of May is just.19% above the forecast, so we would expect the September update of the forecast to be around a.8% decline for the year as a whole. 4 In August 213, 6 of the top 1 airports had less traffic compared to August 212. The largest traffic increases were recorded at Istanbul Sabiha (+26.8%), Warsaw (+13.2%), Heraklion (Nikos/Kazantzakis) (+12%) and Istanbul Ataturk (+11.9%) airports. The largest decreases in traffic were at Madrid Barajas (-1.8%), Milano Malpensa (-7.8%) and Milano Linate (-7.5%) airports. Five of the top 1 air operators had less traffic compared to August 212: Ryanair (-.1%), Lufthansa (-6.4%), Air France (-3.8%), Air Berlin (-5.2%) and Alitalia (-11.1%). The highest traffic growth was observed at Travel Servis (+43.6%), Turkish Airlines (+23.1%), Pegasus Airlines (+23.), Air Europa (+19.6%), Monarch Airlines Ltd (+17.7%) and SAS (+17%). Ukraine International (AUI) flights increased by 74.4% due to changes in fleet size and route network following the cessation of operations of Aerosvit. Airline consolidation and restructuring explains most of the significant traffic decreases and increases: Finnair (-26%), Olympic (-21.1%), Air Nostrum (-17%), Lufthansa (-6.4%) and Finnish Commuter Airlines (+5). NM Network Operations Report Analysis August 213 3

5 Traffic increases in August were observed in Chisinau, Simferopol, Istanbul, Odessa and Oslo ACCs and the traffic decreased in Tampere, Milano and Yerevan ACCs. The decrease in Munich and the increase in Karlsruhe ACC is mainly a consequence of the airspace transfer between these ACCs (VOLMUK project). NM Network Operations Report Analysis August 213 4

13 6. ALL AIR TRANSPORT DELAYS (Source: CODA) This section presents the all air transport delay situation as seen from the airlines by using the data collected by Central Office for Delay Analysis (CODA) from the airlines. Data coverage is 52% of the commercial flights in the ECAC region for July 213. ATFM delays reported by airlines may be lower than the NM calculated ATFM delays due to difference in methods: ATFM delays of NM are the (flight) planned delays ; the airlines report the actual experienced ATFM delay on departure. For instance, a flight with an ATFM delay may also have a handling delay absorbed within the ATFM delay. For the airline, a part of this delay is the ATFM delay and the rest is the handling delay. Average departure delay/flight (min) Breakdow n average delay per flight July 213,8 Average En- Route Delay/Flight,4 Average En- Route Delay/Flight 5,9 Average primary delay 1,3 Passenger experience Based on airline data, the average departure delay per flight from All Causes was 1.3 minutes per flight, this was a decrease of 5% in comparison to 1.8 minutes per flight in July 212. Thunderstorms caused high delays in Frankfurt, London Heathrow and Zurich airport. London Heathrow also suffered from an aircraft incident on Friday July 12th. Within all air transport delays, en-route ATFM delays were.4 minutes/flight in July 213. Primary delays counted for 57% (or 5.9 min/flt ) of which.4 min/flt was attributed to en-route ATFM delays, with reactionary delays representing a 43% share (4.4 min/flt). NM reported En-Route ATFM delay Primary Delay (excl En-Route) Airline Reported En-Route ATFM Delay Reactionary delay Avg departure delay/flight (min) Average departure delay per flight 212/ Further analysis of airline data shows that the average en-route ATFM delay was.4 minutes per flight. According to airline reports primary delays counted for 57% (or 5.9 min/flt ) of which.4 min/flt was attributed to en-route ATFM delays, with reactionary delays representing a 43% share (4.4 min/flt). SIGNIFICANT EVENTS AND ISSUES 8.1. PLANNED EVENTS Brussels airport had reduced capacity between 1-24/8/213 and Prague airport has reduced capacity from 13/7/213 until 3/9/213, both due to works in progress on runways. While the delay impact in Prague airport was negligible (average 3 minutes per day), some medium delay impact occurred at Brussels airport with an average of 4 minutes of delay occurring due to runway work throughout the month. There were no planned ACC events during the month of August DISRUPTIONS Warsaw ACC - Ongoing capacity reductions due to FDPS failure on 1 July. Analysis of the problem revealed that the EPWW FDP system is unable to process more than 5 flight plans in any rolling 3 hour period. NM mitigation was put for 45 flights in any rolling 3 hour period to allow a buffer. Several rerouting scenarios were developed and the situation is monitored by EPWW and NMOC to reroute traffic outside of Polish airspace when needed. Saturday 17 August Stockholm Arlanda - 6:5-8:37UTC, zero rate due frequency failure initially generated 1,686 mins delay, reduced arrival rate thereafter until 11:44UTC. Final delay 4,399 mins. Wednesday 2, 21, 25 August Brest ACC Several technical issues related to frequency, data link and radar caused 3,161 mins of delay on 3 days. NM Network Operations Report Analysis August

NM ADDED VALUE 9.1 RRP DIRECT DELAY SAVINGS Average daily executed rerouting proposals In August 213, NM proposed alternative routes to an average of 44 flights per day of which 27 were accepted.
