5 Hw TAAM Wrks TAAM simulatin relies upn cmparing a knwn and existing system in rder t analyse the impact f the prpsed change(s). Once the need fr the prject has been identified and the scpe defined, data is entered t create a baseline that reflects the current peratins. Alternatives are then created within the simulatin, using the baseline as a starting template and cmparative tl. TAAM s flexibility enables the user t mve easily between simulatins, and return t earlier simulatins run. The simulatin is run in fast-time n a desktp r laptp cmputer. The user can bserve the traffic mvements n the screen, interact with the mdel, vary the utcmes and arrive at best-pssible slutins. Simulatin run time depends upn the available cmputer hardware and the cmplexity f the mdel. Data such as flight schedules, waypints & airprt lcatin crdinates, and airfield & sectr maps are managed by TIE. Mdel setup files are accessible via a data tree structure in the Study Explrer windw, while editing and cnfiguratin may be dne in the wrk area. Files may be easily manipulated and inserted int simulatin scenaris by means f navigating the data tree and perfrming simple right-click actins, including cpying, deleting, and lading/unlading files. File editing is easily accmplished within the wrk area, which includes individual tabbed windws which may be dcked in a user-cnfigurable manner r pulled ut f the TIE applicatin t take full advantage f multiple mnitr envirnments. Cntrl f the cmprehensive SIM mdel is achieved thrugh three generalised means: Static files: Included in TAAM are static files cntaining ATC system data tables such as wake turbulence separatin standards and aircraft perfrmance tables. Jeppesen supplies examples f these s users can quickly establish their initial mdels then mdify the cntents f these files t suit their lcal mdelling needs. Fr example, users can reduce the wake turbulence separatin requirements t reflect a change in standards, r increase aircraft perfrmance attributes t reflect peratr preference. Parameter settings: Many bjects in the simulatin have a number f cntrl parameters. The rle f these parameters range frm setting ATC requirements such as in-trail requirements ver fixes, t methds fr emulating ATC prcedures such as clsing taxiways in ne directin t generate racetrack taxiing patterns. Setting parameters n individual items is as simple as clicking n the item and mdifying its characteristics in the resultant dialg windw. Rules: While the static files and parameters are defined at simulatin start-up and remain unchanged, the rule base prvides cntext sensitive cntrl f the simulatin behaviur. The TAAM user can emulate cmplex peratinal behaviur, such as lad switching between runways depending n traffic demand. Gate-t-Gate Simulatin TAAM is a gate-t-gate simulatin tl, allwing fr simulatin at multiple levels f detail. As a gate-t-gate tl, TAAM may be used t shw aircraft departing frm an airprt (including pushback, taxi, takeff rll and SID), transiting airspace (utilizing apprpriate climb rates, flight levels, speeds, and separatin criteria), and landing at a destinatin airprt (including STAR, landing, taxi, and arrival at gate).
