1 April 09 TAMIL NADU Amma Free Wi-Fi znes The Tamil Nadu gvernment has launched Amma Free Wi-Fi znes in five cities f the state. The Wi-Fi facility has been inaugurated at Labur Statue, Marina, Chennai, Central bus stands f Salem and Tiruchirappalli, Gandhipuram bus stand in Cimbatre and Mattuthavani bus stand in Madurai. The facility wuld be free fr first 20 minutes every day and Rs.10 wuld be charged per hur thereafter. The facility has been prvided by state-run Tamil Nadu Arasu Cable TV Crpratin (TACTV) at a ttal cst f Rs 8.50 crre. Size India NATIONAL Natinal Institute f Fashin Technlgy (NIFT), New Delhi under the Ministry f Textiles is ging t cnduct Natinal Sizing Survey dubbed as Size India. The survey is t develp cmprehensive size chart fr ready-t-wear industry based n bdy measurements f the Indian ppulatin. Size India prject is scientific exercise where anthrpmetric data will be cllected frm 25,000 sample (bth men and wmen) ppulatin in the age grup 15 t 65 years acrss six majr cities. S far, 14 cuntries have successfully cmpleted natinal sizing surveys. The six cities where this survey is ging t be cnducted- Klkata, Mumbai, New Delhi, Bengaluru, Hyderabad, and Shillng. Wrld s secnd largest mbile phne prducer India has replaced Vietnam t becme the secnd-largest prducer f mbile phnes in the wrld, nly after China. This infrmatin has been shared by the gvernment n the basis f data prvided by the Indian Cellular Assciatin (ICA).

2 As per the infrmatin, the annual prductin f mbile phnes in India increased frm 3 millin units in 2014 t 11 millin units in Accrding t data shared by ICA, India accunted fr 11 percent f glbal mbile prductin in 2017 cmpared t 3 percent in The tp three mbile prducing cuntries are China, India, and Vietnam. The gvernment has established a Fast Track Task Frce (FTTF) under Ministry f Electrnics and IT, which has set the target t achieve arund 500 millin mbile phne prductin in India by Sahyg-Hyeblyeg 2018 India, Suth Krea jint anti-piracy, search and rescue exercise Sahyg- Hyeblyeg 2018 was cnducted in the Bay f Bengal ff the Chennai cast in Tamil Nadu. The exercise was cnducted between Indian Cast Guard (ICG) and Krean Cast Guard (KCG) as part f the prpsed establishment f MU between them t imprve maritime security in Indian Ocean Regin (IOR). In this exercise, ICG s Drnier aircraft and ICG Shaurya, Rani Abbakka, C-423, C-431 frm India participated. Frm Krean side KCG s deplyed ship BADARO participated.

The main aim f Desert Tiger 5 is mutually sharing expertise and enhancing jint military actins between these tw cuntries. Internatinal cnference n human rights Nepal will hst an internatinal cnference t address the issues relating t human rights and impunity in Suth Asia. Over 50 representatives frm 20 cuntries will be participating in this event. The Natinal Human Rights Cmmissin (NHRC) f Nepal is hsting the threeday internatinal cnference with the theme 'Identifying challenges and assessing prgress: addressing impunity and human rights in Suth Asia'. The cnference will issue a 'Kathmandu Declaratin' at the cnclusin thrugh hlding intensive discussins n varius issues relating t human rights and impunity. Tiangng-1 China s ut-f-cntrl Tiangng-1 space lab has re-entered Earth s atmsphere, landing in the middle f the Suth Pacific Ocean near wrld s spacecraft cemetery r graveyard. Tiangng-1 (Heavenly Palace r Celestial Palace-1) was China s first prttype space statin r space labratry. 5 The12 identified Champin Services Sectrs (CSS) are Infrmatin Technlgy & Infrmatin Technlgy Enabled Services (IT & ITeS), Medical Value Travel, Transprt, and Lgistics Services, Turism and Hspitality Services, Accunting and Finance Services, Audi Visual Services, Cmmunicatin Services, Legal Services, Cnstructin and Related Engineering Services, Envirnmental Services, Financial Services and Educatin Services. Actin Plans is made t develp a visin fr each f these identified Champin Sectrs by the year 2022 and enumerate steps that need t be taken t achieve that visin. The share f India s services sectr in glbal services exprts was 3.3% in 2015 cmpared t 3.1% in Based n this champin sectr initiative, a gal f 4.2 % has been envisaged fr Department f Industrial Plicy and Prmtin (DIPP), the ndal department fr Make in India will spearhead initiative fr Champin Sectrs in manufacturing. The first city t rll-ut BS-VI fuel Delhi became the first city in India t supply ultra-clean Bharat Stage (BS) VI grade fuel (bth petrl and diesel).

6 It has been dne with an aim t cmbat the rising levels f air pllutin in Delhi- NCR regin. Other cities in NCR like Nida, Gurugram, Ghaziabad, and Faridabad as well as ther 13 majr cities, including Mumbai, Chennai, Bengaluru, Hyderabad, and Pune will rll-ut cleaner BS-VI grade fuel frm January 1, By switching t BS-VI, India will jin the league f US, Japan, and Eurpean Unin, which fllw Eur Stage VI emissin nrms. The majr difference in standards between the existing BS-IV and new BS-VI aut fuel nrms is BS-IV fuels cntain 50 parts per millin (ppm) sulfur, while BS-V and BS-VI grade fuel will have 10 ppm sulfur. Thus, newly intrduced BS VI fuel is estimated t reduce the amunt f sulfur released by 80%. Set up in 1997, NPPA has been entrusted with the task f fixatin/revisin f prices f pharma prducts, enfrcement f prvisins f Department f Pharmaceuticals and mnitring f prices f cntrlled and decntrlled drugs. Okla s Speedtest Glbal Index MISCELLANEOUS As per the Okla s Speedtest Glbal Index, India glbally ranked 67th in fixed bradband speeds and 109th in terms f mbile internet speeds. Last year, the cuntry ranked 76th in terms f fixed bradband dwnlad speed. The reprt says that the cuntry's perfrmance in fixed bradband dwnlad speeds has increased frm average speeds f Mbps in Nvember 2017 t Mbps in February India's neighbr China was ranked 26th with an average mbile bradband dwnlad speed f Mbps, Sri Lanka 82nd, Pakistan 92nd, Bangladesh 115th and Nepal 118th. India's neighbring cuntries China was ranked 20th, Sri Lanka 76th, Bangladesh 86th, Nepal 89th and Pakistan 112nd, in terms f fixed-line bradband dwnlad speed. The February Speedtest Glbal Index shws Nrway at ple psitin in the wrld fr mbile internet with an average dwnlad speed f Mbps. Singapre takes the tp spt fr fixed bradband with a Mbps average dwnlad. Okla's Speedtest Glbal Index cmpares Internet speed data frm arund the wrld via 7,021 servers, ut f which 439 are present in India.
