1 ASIA-PACIFIC BUSINESS FORUM 2015 Tentative Prgramme Driving Grwth and Sustainability thrugh Business TWELFTH SESSION 1-3 Nvember 2015 Bangkk Thailand Overview: The Asia-Pacific Business Frum (APBF) is the flagship reginal business frum rganized by the United Natins Ecnmic and Scial Cmmissin fr Asia and the Pacific (ESCAP). With its 53 Member States plus nine Assciate Members, ranging frm least develped and Pacific Island cuntries, t cuntries with emerging markets, t majr develped ecnmies, ESCAP secretariat as well as ESCAP Business Advisry Cuncil (EBAC) and Sustainable Business Netwrk (ESBN) are the driving frces behind APBF. APBF s missin is t prvide an effective platfrm fr reginal public-private sectr dialgue n the rle and needs f business in achieving inclusive, resilient and sustainable develpment. APBF was first launched in 2004 in Shanghai, where it attracted ver 2,000 participants frm business, gvernment, academia and civil sciety frm acrss the regin. Over the curse f ne decade, it has helped frm a pan-asian multi-stakehlder netwrk, and has been hsted in varius lcatins, such as Almaty, Bangkk, Clmb, Jakarta, Kuala Lumpur and Kunming. This year, APBF 2015 will hld its twelfth sessin in its hmetwn f Bangkk, Thailand, under the theme Driving Grwth and Sustainability thrugh Business. Organized by ESCAP, in cllabratin with EBAC, ESBN, the Organisatin fr Ecnmic Cperatin and Develpment (OECD), the Internatinal Labur Organizatin (ILO), the Jint Standing Cmmittee n Cmmerce, Industry and Banking (JSCCIB) f Thailand, the Trade and Industry Assciatin f Singapre (TIAS), the Internatinal Chamber f Cmmerce Bangladesh (ICCB), the Pacific Islands Trade and Invest, the Pacific Basin Ecnmic Cuncil (PBEC), the Jint Freign Chambers f Cmmerce in Thailand (JFCCT), the Greater Mekng Subregin Business Frum (GMS-BF), the Mekng Institute, The Asia Fundatin and the Internatinal Business Cuncil f Sri Lanka, it will nce again prvide a space fr meaningful public-private dialgue. APBF 2015 Objectives: T identify the challenges and discver the mst prmising pprtunities fr enhancing reginal business cnnectivity, investment and partnerships in the Asia-Pacific regin, in particular within the cntext f achieving inclusive, resilient and sustainable develpment in the regin, the prgramme is designed t: Examine regin-wide business cnditins and perspectives in a dynamic and ever-changing envirnment. Discuss new and innvative ways t enhance access t financing in the regin. Examine the challenges and pprtunities t prmte reginal trade and transprt facilitatin. Strengthen the reginal business cmmunity t meet the challenges f increased cmpetitin, the need fr crprate sustainability, the cmplexities f the regulatry envirnment and the pst-2015 develpment agenda. Prmte the develpment f small and medium-sized enterprises (SMEs) thrugh technlgy and innvatin develpment. Encurage cperatin between gvernments and business t achieve a better sustainable business and investment climate at the natinal, subreginal and reginal levels. Discuss the relevant internatinal tls, instruments and facilities aimed at increasing the adptin f internatinal principles f respnsible business cnduct and the rle f business in disaster risk reductin.
