1 ICCI (Qld) NEWSLETTER 13 th July 2018 A few words from the President, Comm. Hon. Santo Santoro Dear Members and friends of ICCI (Qld), We at ICCI (Qld) hope that all is good with you. We would like to remind you of the forthcoming ICCI (Qld) business networking functions which again are not to be missed events. On Monday 23 rd July, the Chamber is hosting Senator the Hon Matt Canavan, the Australian Minister for Resources and Northern Australia for a business networking lunch. Not only does Senator Canavan hale from Queensland but he also proudly boasts strong Italian heritage and will certainly enjoy talking about the strong and growing trade and economic relationship between Italy and Australia at the lunch. As a Senator for Queensland, the Minister represents the Italian communities right throughout Queensland but in particular in many of the iconic cities and towns of Queensland, including the sugar cane growing areas of our State. I am sure that he will have many interesting things to say about the economic contribution of these vibrant Italian communities to the social and economic fabric of Queensland. It s not too late to book your place at what I am sure will be a very happy and stimulating networking lunch. 1

2 Can we also bring to your attention and warmly invite your participation in the Wine and Coffee Appreciation at Merlo Coffee on Monday 6 th August The Chamber is hosting this event at one of the iconic coffee outlets of Brisbane. Dean Merlo is the head of a much renowned and growing coffee empire and is an exemplary manifestation of the wonderful success that hard working Italian families are able to achieve via multiple generations of hard work and commitment to excellence. The Merlo family is one of the iconic Italian families of Brisbane and Queensland and Dean s hard work and success does much to honour the family name. I know I have used the word iconic a lot in this message but it is very applicable in all cases. We will be treated to a very special Italian experience on Monday 6 th August and I would encourage your attendance to another ICCI (Qld) business networking event.
