6 Frequently Asked Questins Is El Salvadr a safe place t g n a missin trip? In an effrt t understand the safety cncerns, culture, and the missin rganizatin we are partnering with called, Christ Fr the City Internatinal (CFCI) in El Salvadr, Pastr JD and a team visited the cuntry n a scuting trip befre ur first missin trip. At n time during their visit, nr during the missin trip with the students did anyne feel unsafe. CFCI is a well-recgnized and respected rganizatin in the cuntry and has a strng reputatin fr bringing effective ministries that help the cmmunities they impact. While gang activity is present in the cuntry, vilence is almst always gang vs. gang. In additin, ur husing lcatin is in a safe area and is gated, and we will have multiple CFCI staff with us at all times n the missin field. Wh is the missin rganizatin Crnerstne Student Ministries is partnering with in El Salvadr and what are they abut? The rganizatin is called Christ Fr the City Internatinal (CFCI), which has ver 20 years f experience in prviding churches, teams and individuals with the greatest f all adventures; custmized Missin Trips and Child Spnsrship pprtunities that transfrm lives and cities fr the Glry f Gd. The headquarters f CFCI is lcated in Omaha, Nebraska and nw has bases and ministries in ver 15 cuntries (including El Salvadr) with ver 500 staff; bringing the transfrming lve f Jesus Christ thrugh a huge variety f ministries. They prvide a wide variety f experiences and pprtunities t explre each participant s ptential calling. D we persnally knw the missinaries in El Salvadr? Yes! Jake Hjemvick, his wife Becky, and their kids, wh are riginally frm the Pittsburgh area (Becky s parents are members f Crnerstne), are the base directrs f CFCI El Salvadr. They have a wnderful yung family and have devted their lives t Gd s wrk in El Salvadr. In an effrt t psitively influence the cmmunities they serve fr Jesus, Jake and his team lead daily yuth sccer prgrams, English as a Secnd Language classes, fd and clthing prgrams and hst shrt term missin teams t minister t peple in these impverished areas. Will there be any meetings prir t the missin trip r after we return? Yes! We will have several team meetings leading up t the trip t prepare the team fr ur time in El Salvadr, as well as a team fundraiser. These meetings are REQUIRED fr participants t attend. Please review the Team Dates sectin fr dates. There, will als be a team celebratin party nce we return frm El Salvadr, which is nt required, but students are strngly encuraged t attend. Can students bring their cell phne? Yes, althugh internatinal rates apply. We cannt be respnsible fr any lst, stlen, brken, r damaged electrnic persnal equipment. Is there financial aid available fr the Missin Trip? N. Unlike ther student ministry camps, retreats, and events where schlarship funds are typically available, students are respnsible t raise supprt t cver the entire $1,300 cst f their trip. In an effrt t help students raise supprt, we will prvide a team fundraising pprtunity. Ultimately, the cst f the trip is the sle respnsibility f the student and their family.

7 Frequently Asked Questins Will the students need extra spending mney? Yes, students will need mney fr any fd, snacks, drinks, etc. during travel times t and frm El Salvadr. Students are als welcme t bring mney fr suvenirs while in San Salvadr. We suggest n mre than $200 cash. We suggest $50 minimum. We cannt be respnsible fr any lst r stlen cash/valuables. What type f currency is used in El Salvadr? Cnveniently, the American dllar is used in El Salvadr, s students will nt need t cnvert their spending mney int a different currency. What is the payment schedule? The ttal missin trip cst is $1,300. The payment schedule is as fllws: Sunday, March 3 Payment #1: $200 Dwn Payment Sunday, April 14 Payment #2: $550 Sunday, June 2 Payment #3: $550 *All payments are nn-refundable D yu have any suggestins n healthy ways t prepare fr the trip? Yes. We recmmend yu start a regimen f Surce Naturals Wellness frmula 2 weeks prir t departure. Als, take a prbitic and cntinue taking these during the trip. Where d the students sleep? All students will be gruped by gender in a missin guesthuse. The guesthuse is very clean and there are multiple shwers n-site. The entire husing cmplex is gated and secure. D I need t bring a sleeping bag and/r pillw? N, all bedding is prvided. What is the student t leader rati? We anticipate the rati will be apprximately 6:1 plus the n-site staff missinaries. Hw will the students be supervised? All staff and vlunteer adults leading the missin trip have been trained by ur Student Ministry Staff, and have been thrugh backgrund screening. What if a student has fd allergies r dietary restrictins? If a student has dietary needs such as gluten intlerance, allergies t dyes, r is vegan, CFCI will d their best t accmmdate. Please write ut any dietary requests and give them t Pastr JD as early as pssible befre departure, and he will cmmunicate thse requests t CFCI. What if I have medicatins I need t bring? Please bring all medicatins in their riginal cntainer. Any medicatin nt in its riginal cntainer culd pssibly be cnfiscated at custms.

Yes - yu must have a passprt t enter anther cuntry! Yur passprt must be valid 6 mnths after the trip. Passprts currently cst $115 t purchase.
