Since 1976 the San Dieg Unified Schl District and ther San Dieg schls have participated in Camp Enterprise, a San Dieg Rtary Club prject funded 100 percent by the Club and its members. Camp Enterprise is an activity-packed, three-day wrkshp and this year s camp is scheduled fr March 15-17, 2018 at Camp Cedar Glen in Julian, Califrnia. Based n a prgram develped by the American Management Assciatin, this all expenses paid experience prvides a select grup f prmising 11th grade students with a series f panels, presentatins, and grup discussins that that teach students abut the free enterprise system by wrking in a team t create their wn businesses frm start t finish. 2 WHAT IS CAMP ENTERPRISE? (CONT D) Rtarians frm this rtary club (Club 33) facilitate the students with the planning and preparatin, but d nt advise the students n the details f their chsen prduct and business plan. In this way the students learn team building, cllabratin and the give and take prcess f business by ding rather than being instructed n creating the best plan. Each team presents their final plan t a team f judges wh are prfessinals in their respected fields. Students have the pprtunity t meet and interact with Rtary Club members and thers wh are business peple frm many different prfessins, including banking, law, medicine, educatin, accunting, retail, marketing design fields and nn-prfits. They develp prfessinal skills, business acumen and career awareness in a fun and educatinal envirnment. Every student is required t present a part f the plan befre the panel and audience. Camp nminees frm varius schls are recmmended by schl cunselrs and are selected by the camp s cmmittee. Typically between students primarily frm San Dieg s public schls attend Camp Enterprise. Please visit ur website at t learn even mre abut camp and hear frm past student participants in a shrt vide clip. A maximum f 90 eleventh grade students are invited. MORE ABOUT CAMP ENTERPRISE Transprtatin must be arranged by the parent r guardian t and frm ur Rtary meeting lcatin in Pt. Lma, San Dieg. The schl district will nt prvide transprtatin t Pt. Lma. But, the San Dieg Rtary will transprt the students by bus frm Pt. Lma up t Camp and back t Pt. Lma. Drp ff and pick up times and the lcatin is prvided belw in the camp schedule. Camp Enterprise des include a Talent Shw as part f ur entertainment; therefre, please encurage yur child t cnsider participatin and t bring necessary items such as a musical instrument. Camp des prvide a pian. Althugh this is an pprtunity fr students t learn abut free enterprise and the idea f business, students will nt be allwed t use the internet nr any f their persnal devices during camp activities. Camp Schedule Thursday, March 15 Time Descriptin Lcatin 11:00 am (n earlier) Student respnsible t get transprtatin t the San Dieg Rtary club meeting lcatin at Liberty Statin Cnference Center, 2600 Laning Rad, San Dieg (Pt. Lma) Liberty Statin Cnference Center 2600 Laning Rad, San Dieg, CA Students Assemble with ther students (n parents/guardians) Lk fr Rtarians and Rtaracts (cllege students) in frnt f the cnference center wh will guide yu with signs t the check-in area which will be in the frnt f the cnference center. Register at Camp Enterprise check-in table. Take camp gear t the bus lading zne lcated behind the cnventin center. Gather with yur assigned team until lunchen begins 11:45 am Lk fr yur assigned team seating at tables as a guest fr lunch at the Rtary meeting This will be a special lunchen devted t Rtary Camp Enterprise and yu ll meet many f the Rtarians wh will be with yu at Camp. 1:30 pm Begin barding buses immediately fllwing lunch prgram t take yu t Camp Cedar Glen in Julian t arrive by 3:00 pm Liberty Statin Cnference Center 2600 Laning Rad, San Dieg, CA Liberty Statin Cnference Center 2600 Laning Rad, San Dieg, CA Camp Cedar Glen, Julian 3:00 pm Arrive Camp Cedar Glen Camp elevatin is apprximately 4,000 feet abve sea level, and in mid-march the weather can be cld with the pssibility f rain r even snw. Dress at Camp is infrmal (jeans, sweaters, t-shirts r sweatshirts). Plan t dress in layers s yu can add and remve warmer clthing as necessary, and expect it t be chilly during the night. Upn arrival, yu will take yur belngings t yur cabins. Bring tennis shes r smething cmparable. 3:15 pm Camp Activities begin. Receive agenda at camp. If yu sing r play a musical instrument, recite a pem r d magic, wnderful! Be creative! Many previus participants have banded tgether fr skits and ther imaginative presentatins. But, remember, persnal sund equipment is nt permitted, i.e. CD players, prtable speakers, etc. (Frtunately, we have excellent sund equipment at Camp.) PLEASE HAVE SOMEONE MEET YOU NO LATER THAN 4:00 P.M. IMPORTANT INFORMATION FOR STUDENTS Mbile Devices: Camp Gear: The use f mbile devices during camp sessins is nt permitted. Internet and mbile cell cverage is almst nn-existent at camp. Using mbile devices during camp sessins will result in devices being held fr yu and returned when yu depart n Saturday. Please pack in ONE suitcase r duffel bag. Yu will have t carry it by yurself t yur cabin, s yu will want t keep it reasnably light. MAKE SURE YOUR LUGGAGE HAS A TAG WITH YOUR NAME, ADDRESS, PHONE NUMBER, AND SCHOOL ON IT. In Case f Emergency In the event f an emergency, and yur parents r relatives need t reach yu while yu re at Camp, the telephne number at Camp Cedar Glen is (760) This number shuld be used nly fr emergencies. Remember, cell phnes will nt be allwed t be used during camp.
