At the present time, schlarships are awarded in $500 increments depending upn number f qualifying applicants and availability f funds. Eligibility The schlarship is named in memry f Dallas Ward. Dallas was an exceptinally ptimistic, talented, and caring yung man. He cmpeted in a variety f sprts frm age six thrugh cllege, played the saxphne and be, and excelled as a student. Dallas was active in church and civic activities and demnstrated heart-felt cmpassin fr all living things. His gal in life was t becme a veterinarian. Dallas was actively pursuing at the time f his death. While a junir majring in animal science at NC State University, Dallas was killed in a tragic autmbile accident. Dallas was the sn f Grady & Barbara Ward, wh raise cattle in upper Cleveland Cunty. Grady served as Assciatin president during Graduating senirs frm any f the high schls in Cleveland Cunty pursuing a baccalaureate r assciate degree wh have demnstrated a strng interest in beef cattle prductin. Pririty will be given t applicants wh are assciate members f CCCA r whse parents r grandparents are active CCCA members. Pririty will be given t applicants wh are pursuing a degree in agriculture with an emphasis in beef prductin. Previus winners may reapply and will be cnsidered n the basis f academic merit and financial need. Three (3) letters f recmmendatin frm teachers, civic, and/r faith cmmunity leaders(ne letter must be written by a member f the Cleveland Cunty Cattlemen's Assciatin).
